City Advent Calendar - Day 17

Posted by ,

Yesterday's grandfather clock build was definitely a winner! While perhaps not in the festive spirit, it's a nice build that will fit in many LEGO buildings and MOCs. Maybe we'll start seeing festive builds soon.

Yes, this is much better! You can't get much more festive than a Christmas tree. I'm very happy that the Christmas tree from Day 15 wasn't the only festive tree appearance. I also like that ornaments are included in the build, unlike the Friends calendar this year where the tree and ornaments were spread over two days. In all fairness, there aren't that many ornaments in this rendition, but it's enough to set the tone.

Out of all the Christmas trees we've gotten so far (including the Friends and HP calendars), this is my favourite of the batch. Maybe not quite as many decorations as the others, but it's got that iconic Christmas tree shape. And it was much easier to assemble at 6:30 in the morning, lying in bed (yes, I open the day's advent calendar before I get out of bed), still half-asleep, than the grandfather clock.

It's a shame this didn't get left wedge plates to match with the Friends' right ones. But, does the job as a Christmas tree.

Impressive. Yes, Obi-Wan has taught you well.

They could have add some ornaments parts for the bottom of the tree. I guess there are now spare parts enough to get them.

@Ridgeheart: The Doctor who Christmas episode no-one saw coming. Who knew Daleks could get into the holiday spirit?

As long as the Christmas tree doesn't try to kill you first...

The tree design works on its own, but it looks a bit awkward with decorations added, and no cat prowling around the base.

@TheOtherMike:
I’ve got a pair of Christmas Daleks on our layout at Detroit Symphony Orchestra right now. One red, one green, both trimmed in white.

I was going to say the same thing. It always irks me that I end up with wedge plates if one side only! I wish they would always come in pairs!!
