City Advent Calendar - Day 18
Posted by MeganL,The addition of a Christmas tree to the display mat definitely takes things to a more festive turn. As we head into the final week of the calendar, I'm hopeful that we'll have more seasonal builds to take us through the rest of the way.
This is a natural complement to yesterday's Christmas tree - three presents to put under the tree! The presents themselves are almost as large as the tree, but one could argue those would make the best kinds of presents! I like the striking colours of the presents - they definitely add more splashes of colour to the scene.

Friends colour palette has entered chat :p
Some nice presents for under the tree and the different shapes make it interesting.
Hmmm. Cakes
This is one case that clearly shows the limitations of Lego. I have a Nanoblock Santa, which has some tiny gifts which look much more like a package with a ribbon around it, and even the bow on top! These indeed look more like cakes....
The middle one is Sandy from the Monkie Kid series. :P

...or maybe it's Mo!
The 2x2 presents are pretty standard fare, but the one on the left feels like someone wanted to try something wildly different…as long as it didn’t involve any effort. Adding something on the side worked for the HPAC broom a few years back, but here you’ve got an exposed stud at one end, and a gaping chamber at the other.
@PurpleDave: On the other hand, a long, thin present reminds me of the scene in Toy Story where the toys are scoping out the presents being brought to Andy's birthday party. Slinky Dog: "Look, there's a nice little one there!" *Kid turns, revealing that Slink was just seeing the end of a very long present* All: "Aaaaah!!!"

Empty presents are sad.... or, remnants of fun recieved. Perhaps, add some more 1x1 tiles around as scraps of wrapping paper strew about.
