Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 12
Posted by CapnRex101,
I have found the last couple of days in the Harry Potter Advent Calendar disappointing, although today's item seems sure to improve, perhaps by visiting another of Hogsmeade's shops.
Find out after the break...
We remain outside on day twelve, receiving an attractive fountain. I expect blending dark tan and white elements representing snow is quite difficult on such a small model, but this combination is successful and I like how the 1x1 bow is angled to appear natural. However, my favourite feature is the trans-light blue crystal, presumably representing frozen water, which provides a bit of colour.
Overall - This fountain looks good on the whole, thanks primarily to the trans-light blue crystal.

Does anybody know anything about plumbing? Frozen piping must be the worst. I wonder how they solve these things in the wizarding world.
Energy crystal! Don't remember if blue ones represent anything specific in Rock Raiders lore, though...
(I know, I know the crystal piece didn't actually originate with Rock Raiders. Still, that was the first time I encountered it, and as such was the context where it made the biggest impression on me.)
Harry: Why are they called death crystals? D-Do they kill you?
Dumbledore: You're thinking of bullets, Harry. Death crystals show you how you're gonna die.
[WHIMPERING, SCREAMING]
Harry: Godric Griffindor! I-I die a million times?
Dumbledore: Your future stems from your [BURPS] present, which, if you're living right, keeps changing. Truth is, anyone that knows how they're definitely gonna die is either boring as hell or about to get ****.
Duck!
Harry: Who are those guys?!
Dumbledore: Crystal poachers. There's no lower form of life. They think the galaxy's their own personal piggy bank.
Harry: Wait, then what are we?
Dumbledore: We're Dumbledore and Harry. You're about to witness the only real use for these crystals. They show you when the other guy's reloading. Certain death, certain death, certain death, uncertain death.
[LASERS ZAPPING]
And certain death, certain death, certain death. Definitely gonna get **** by this guy; this is totally my fate; nothing I could possibly do; okay, now, not so much.
Ah yes, the shrine to the... crystal of... ultimate power?
Is this the Arkenstone? It looks nothing like how it's described, but I guess the snow reminds me of the 3rd Hobbit film a bit. Why it would be sitting there is anyone's guess.
It's just frozen goblin piss. That's what it looks like.

Magic, of course.
I though it was maybe a fire pit with some blue fire, like Hermione conjures in Deathly Hallows. Might be worth revisiting the Hogsmeade scenes in the films to see if I can spot something like that

Same for me here, but in Rock Raiders (gosh i want them back so badly) only the Green and Red ones are used. Blue never appeared, if i recall correctly.

They send in a basilisk every once in a while, give them a good scouring
Perhaps it is a frozen hand, reaching out of the fountain…

You're half right. No blue. No red either. Just trans-neon-green for Rock Raiders. It was Power Miners that got all the colors of the rainbow...except trans-yellow. Trans-yellow rock monster was left eating mismatched crystals, which probably gave it a nasty case of indigestion.
