New parts in new sets now in the database
Posted by Huw,To coincide with the release of dozens of sets today, LEGO has published PDFs of 477 instruction manuals and 153 set inventories.
The latter includes over 1,000 new parts and recolours which you will now find in our database.
I suspect New Elementary will be going through the list with a fine tooth comb sometime this week so while we await their detailed article I've listed some that caught my eye after the break and I encourage you to do so in the comments.
3167: BEAM U-FRAME, 2X3, NO. 1
5174: BRICK 2X4, INVERTED, OUTSIDE BOW
5058: LEAF 4X5X1 2/3
5151: LEAF, 3X4X2 2/3, NO. 1
5175: PLATE 2X4, W/ 1.5 PLATE 1X4, DOWNWARDS

Is there a way to filter to those that are new moulds rather than recolours?
Even if not, it's a wonderful list to scroll through!

I second this, would be a brilliant addition!

Sort of,
https://brickset.com/parts/year-2024 and select design view.
Unfortunately the list is cluttered with printed parts which all receive a new design ID.
Isn't this that part from the John Deere (tm) tractor?
The brand new fern leaf didn't cut it? I'm amazed how Lego keeps pumping so many new molds. It becomes an expectation for larger sets or theme waves, and this doesn't seem sustainable.

As someone who experienced lego in the 2000s, I am equally worried and nonplussed. I doubt current-day TLC would be stupid enough to do something so unsustainable as their practices from back then.
Then again... I just hope they don't think they're too big to fail now.
You know what, scratch that. If they supposedly couldn't financially afford to produce a single remake of a bionicle set as a regular release and HAVE to make it a GWP and remove Trans Neon Green and make so many licensed mifigures lack leg printing, then I'm sure their bean counters are not allowing anything remotely risky anymore. They'll be fine.
Record profits ahead. Again.
The more you make a piece look like the real thing, the less abstract it becomes and therefore less able to be implemented more broadly in to designs.
All welcome though, I’m sure.
A lot more printed parts in city sets this year, and I'm glad that we're getting tires that aren't black.
Those are sine interesting new leaf pieces! Hope we get them in more colors!
Something that I noticed while going through the list of new parts and recolors is that some parts that had already been produced in white have received a "recolor" in white with a new element number (not to be confused with design number):

The strangest one I found was https://brickset.com/parts/design-3573, which had only been made in white before and now has a second listing for white.
Has white been changed in some way?
This is interesting. GEAR BLOCK 6X6X5 https://brickset.com/parts/6472889
It's only in one friends set so far. It looks like it works with a worm gear for an elevator.
Oooh, dark-red jump stud! Sadly, the only new color for that part, and none of the "repeat" colors are yellow.
@Binnekamp:
From an excerpt from a book, they spend as much money cutting a new mold as they do archiving it for five years. They aggressively prune the range of existing molds now, so parts that aren't earning their keep aren't kept.

And there are five City criminal wanted posters in five different sets, including a polybag, with only one in each:

There's a seemingly identical part in 10788 Gabby's Dollhouse, in pink and printed, so that's probably why they have different numbers.
