Paredes de Coura Fan Weekend returns
Posted by Huw,
The Paredes de Coura Fan Weekend returns this year on the second weekend in June.
The recognised AFOL networking event, which attracts participants from around the world, takes place 7-9 June in Paredes de Coura, a small town 100Km north of Porto in Portugal. It's one of the highlights of the AFOL calendar, set in beautiful surroundings, in (hopefully) beautiful weather.
The event coincides with the annual Portugal Day celebrations, so there's a lot going on in the town in addition to the LEGO event.
You can find out more and reserve your place at fanweekend.pt, and if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask in the comments. I've been several times, so I can hopefully answer them. I'll be there again this year, after a 5-year hiatus, and I'm very much looking forward to it.

Porto might just be the most beautiful city I've ever had the privilege of visiting, and that's all I've got. Hope everyone has a great time!
Glad to have you back again @Huw :)

If you don't like hills, you should never visit San Francisco, California, then! One of the hills is so steep, the road zig-zags so you can drive it!

Or Lisbon, (which is twinned city with San Francisco). Lisbon was bild more than 1000 years ago over 7 hills, and you can still experience some of those.

hills are gone? or no access? private owner?
thought i accidentally switched my browser to a different language for a second
Hmm... Never went to one of those... and my gf is from Porto. And she could be easily persuaded to spend the weekend looking at Lego. The stars might be aligned!
How does it work?
Accomodation and food is provided or should we take care of that ourselves?

It's provided, for a very reasonable fee, under €100 for the 4 days, I believe.

Hills are still there. And you have access...on foot.
I mean, you can try to drive there...but many of the streets were built long before America was even created. So barely any parking, very narrow roads and often long extensions blocked to cars entirely or blocked to non-residents.
There is public transportation available, though. American tourists normally take those. Everyone else tends to walk ahahahahah
