Inside Out 2 will be released later this year and retailer JB Spielwaren has today published images of an upcoming set based on the film, 43248 Mood Cubes.

This 394-piece set shares similarities with 43221 100 Years of Disney Animation Icons produced last year, containing the parts to create two-dimensional versions of some Inside Out characters. In addition, two mini-dolls are included, depicting Joy and a new addition to the cast of emotions, Anxiety!

The price is listed as €34.99, which will likely equate to around £29.99 or $34.99. You can view a box image below...

What do you think of this set and are you hoping for more inspired by Inside Out 2? Let us know in the comments.

Why only two minifigures?

It’s real. Other sites reported it yesterday.

By in Denmark,

It’s a nice set. Really appreciate they do more movies than the Princess franchise and Mickey Mouse and Friends. I wonder if they will release more sets as I would love to see the other characters from the first movie. The model itself is not that interesting. I also wonder why they chose minidolls rather than minifigures - not that I am complaining anyway.

I’m still waiting for the DUPLO: Design sets to launch. They got an official announcement a few years back, but haven’t heard anything recently. Maybe this is a similar thing.

Probably a victim of the Product Cancellation Initiative.

DOTS died so Inside Out could thrive

I mean, it works. Not the Inside Out set we wanted, but it’s the one we got.

Minidolls...

By in United States,

Never thought we'd get Inside Out LEGO sets, yet here we are. Hope we get the rest of them too!

Gravatar
By in Italy,

On this day we usually get news about sets that are april's fools but we wish they were real.
This time around we have a set that's real but we wish it was a joke

Gravatar
By in United States,

As much as I generally prefer minifigures, minidoll proportions work really well for Joy.

This is a cute set! I might end up getting this one for my daughter's birthday this year!

By in United States,

Maybe it's just the lighting, but some of these pieces look almost like Sand Violet or something.... Maybe it's just Lavender, but it doesn't quite look right to me.

Looks like it might be meant to represent one of the mind workers. They're typically just round blobs with faces, hats, and basically stick arms and legs; the limbs would be so thin on this scale that I guess there was no easy way to represent them. Might be that guy is meant to be sitting on his legs so they can't be seen.

Why not? I mean, it's very obviously brick-built, and certainly similar in style to Dots desk accessories like 30557, 41904, and 41906 (or even to other desk accessory sets like 40172). The mosaic character portraits are also reminiscent of 43221 from last year.

The concept of rotating the cubes to show how you're feeling reminds me a lot of those "Today I'm Feeling…" charts that I've seen a lot at schools or offices, and the fact that the cubes can open up to store school supplies or other small objects adds further usefulness. The build also makes interesting use of 1x3 inverted tiles and ice cream cone pieces to reverse the stud direction at the bottom of each cube (as shown in one of the lifestyle photos).

There are some very fun new recolors here too: 6x6 tiles in Lavender, unprinted 1x1 round tiles in Medium Lilac, a Technic ball joint/"voodoo ball" in Cool Yellow, and a 2x2 sphere/unprinted BB-8 torso in Medium Lavender!

It works better for Joy and that's undeniable

Not a fan of this movie at all but still this is really poorly done.

Still I don’t think this is legit Lego would never do something as sloppy as this or maybe they would… but still like whaaaaaat?

By in United Kingdom,

What an odd looking set, I'll pass.
I wonder if Disney are loosing their grip on direction for their films. Certainly true if you look at Marvel and Star Wars.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope this is a joke and a real set will be announced tomorrow.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is a perfectly reasonable set, but it's just unusual enough that I had to hunt down independent confirmation to make sure it wasn't someone's idea of a Wacky Ridiculous Thing That Would Obviously Never Really Happen. I hate April Fools Day. I hate it so much.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They gave Joy boobs, this has to be legit

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally. A yellow-adjacent minidoll! One step below traditional yellow skin, one step above that angry flame yellowish orange minidoll from the Super Hero theme.

Gravatar
By in France,

worst lego set in years. The design of the character is atrocious and so lazy. Wonderful movie why do such an abomination of a s et???

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Nice figs but the rest...
The Disgust figure isn't one of the figs - it is right there in the cubes.

Nice heads to use for Anything Muppets? :-)

Haven't seen the movie, but the set looks nice.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is one I would only buy on deep, deep discount solely as a parts pack. Disney Merchandising never ceases to amaze me with the abominations they agree/demand to license. Not going to blame this atrocity on the LEGO designers.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Vwry weak for first set of the theme.

"Minidolls..."

Agreed, Minifigures would be much better.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

For a minute there I thought they’d used a minifig to represent Anxiety, to better demonstrate her shorter, stockier build next to taller, actually-kinda-minidoll-esque Joy, but on closer look they’re both minidolls. Seems the two shall only mix in TLM2 sets

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

I like the idea of displaying your emotions so family members can tell how you are feeling.

As an autistic male, I think this would have helped growing up, and possibly my autistic sister especially as there is a high probability autistics have alexithymia, where people have trouble identifying, understanding and describing emotions.

Nobody here has, so I’m wondering how many people are getting Inside Out 2 (the sequel that releases this June) mixed up with Inside Out (the original film that didn’t feature that new Anxiety character in any way).

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Not a set I'd be buying, but I do kinda like what they did here. It does seem rather pricey though, even when the PPP is fine it does indeed resemble a DOTS set with lots of tiny pieces.

Gravatar

... because I want more anxiety in my life, apparently.

As others have said, a minidoll's proportions work very well for Joy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like that Joy MiniDoll, the rest of it's pretty meh though

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Pretty good idea, just a bit hard to decipher the emotions no?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

No Sadness in the set??? How dare you.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

the 2nd film might scare that bully peppermint m just like how she came running out of the cinemas crying when watching the first film
