Jay's Brick Blog refreshed with new logo and features

Posted by ,

Jay's Brick Blog, the news and reviews site run by my good friend Jay Ong in Melbourne, has just received a design refresh and a brand-new logo.

Perhaps more importantly, Jay has introduced a minifig identification feature which will help you identify series 25 and later minifigs by scanning the dot matrix code on the boxes without the need for an app, which is sure to be useful once the Space series 26 drops next month.

So, be sure to add the blog to your daily reading list and bookmark the minifig scanner ready for the 1st May.

Loving the classic space reference in the logo!

By in United Kingdom,

I wonder if it works for UK codes, as I believe they were different to the US ones for series 25

By in Australia,

I don't think Australia ever got the large QR code CMFs beyond the ones that were shipped early to Australian LAN members from LEGO themselves or were imported in by independent retailers (from the US), I doubt that will change for s26.

There's an app for that.

That's great! Well done Jay'sBrickBlock. In case they see this:

The image and description on the minifig code scanner don't quite make sense right now. The red X appears to be crossing out the standard UPC bar code when really it's talking about the dot matrix code on the right. And the text description above it says it doesn't work for the smaller codes "on the left" but the image actually shows it on the right. And really, it would be best if the page explained more clearly that there are just some boxes, even in newer series, that have the smaller codes and just can't be scanned.

EU codes for series 25 were different from the US/Canada
I was unawere and used the list of US numbers for my first pull.
But the order of numbering the 12 figs is the same so after to 2 wrong figs I could figure out the EU numbers.

@xoddam:
If the EU S26 codes have been verified, they should work with every minifig code scanner. If they haven't, just be patient.

@konbinifriedchicken:
Marvel 2 was only produced with small codes. S25 was produced with small codes before switching to large codes. S26 forward should only have large codes, in theory.

@vinternet:
Mm, yeah, that should say "small on the right". It's not referring to the UPC at all, but the image on the left (large code) vs the image on the right (small code).

@PurpleDave Australia never got large QR code boxes for cmf25 except for independently imported boxes

But what I’m saying is, in theory, S25 should be the transitional wave between strictly small codes (Marvel 2) and strictly large codes (S26). If I’m right, you should never see small codes going forward.

I tried it in the US and couldn’t even get it to recognize a code.
