New Star Wars rewards available from tomorrow
Posted by Huw,
In addition to the new Star Wars sets and GWPs that'll be available from tomorrow at the start of the May the Fourth celebration, two new Insiders rewards will be offered as well, including a rather nice 25th anniversary coin.
The coin comes in a black box, mounted snugly in a hole cut in thick cardboard, perhaps a little too snugly because it's very difficult to extract. I had to resort to using a brick separator to prise it out.
The 44mm diameter metal coin is printed in full colour with an image that was used on marketing material when LEGO Star Wars first launched in 1999, showing yellow-headed Han, Leia and Luke on the left, and Vader, a Stormtrooper and Boba Fett on the right. It is very nicely printed, although I suspect it'll scratch easily if not handled with care.
The obverse is embossed with '25 years of LEGO Star Wars'
I think it's better than other, similar, coins that have been offered in recent years and I suspect something that die-hard Star Wars fans will want to get their hands on. It will be available from the Insiders rewards centre from May 1st, in exchange for 1,500 points, ** while stocks last! **
The second Star Wars-related item that will be added to the rewards centre tomorrow is this poster, showing various characters from a galaxy far, far away in minifigure form. It's A3 in size, printed on thick card stock, packed flat, and can be yours for 1,800 Insider rewards points.
Thanks to LEGO for sending these items for this article. All opinions expressed are my own.

I see they've fixed the UK site at last.....
Dang it! I actually like that coin.
The other coin can be tossed into the depths of a Sarlacc pit.
Still on the fence about the poster. Don't really need more Lego posters. Although, I do really appreciate that the artist made Darth Vader look more like Dark Helmet making faces at President Screw.
What is clear, is that someone should have wiped that droid's memory. He's seen it all!!
So, it seems another M4 w/ no 2x points. I'd rather have more points than all the crappy, non-Lego merch (the above coin, notwithstanding, of course).
It's really annoying that the discounts have to be claimed and a code redeemed. I was planning on getting both The Ghost and the Coruscant Gunship while redeeming my code for the micro Ninjago City Docks. Now those will have to be done in three different transactions, none of which will satisfy the highest tier of GWPs.
Anyone know if the physical stores will have the same discounts but without the added hassle and inconvenience of using codes to claim them?

I spoke to Lego about this more than a year ago and they said a number of people had raised this and they were looking at making it possible to add more than one code.
I guess they decided they were benefiting too much from people making multiple orders.

The ability to only claim one code in one transaction should really be complained about to customer service, especially when items are subject to availability and the code seems to be only redeemable within 60 days. I’m afraid of running out of time/forgetting that I have a code to redeem if I don’t buy from the site on a regular basis, especially if I want to redeem a few items that I’d like. It’s a bit of a scam really just to make you buy more at the end of the day.

There will be double points on select SW sets May 1-5.
Anyone know if I can use a discount code tomorrow and still get the GWPs?
I figure that, with a code, my total is 1p under the £145 so I am hoping that I can use the code and still get the 3 GWPs.

Are you referring to the 4x points on select sets, or am I missing something? It does happen... from time to time.
I like that the poster actually has classics like Galen Marek, Jedi Bob, Zam Wessel, the original Grievous and more. :)
Who's the guy with the green suit and black upswept hair with white sides? And the lady with a blue lightsaber and a long ponytail?

There's 4x points on a couple of sets, and 2x for I think most other SW sets (with some exclusions).

Kaz Xiono from Star Wars Resistance and (I'm guessing you mean the one below Maul and not Rey on the left...) Satele Shan from The Old Republic.

Row 3, 4 down is Satele Shan a Jedi from the Old Republic.
Row 7, 7 down is Kaz Xiono, a dorky pilot from the cartoon series Resistance.
Presumably the "coin" is just a flat surface with the characters printed on it, rather than a 3D embossed type surface? I think I'd prefer it if they did an uncoloured one that had maybe Vader and Luke like a real coin rather than a metal disc with a picture printed on it. No doubt it will sell out quickly any way.
Does the poster have a matte or gloss finish?

That's what I was hoping for/expecting. I'm not seeing it here, in the U.S., unfortunately.
There is a statement of "much more to come."
But, those of us who bought the UCS Falcon early, know that is just Lego SW lingo for 'bupkis.'
If only the coin design had been a sticker :-)
The Trademark makes the coin asimetric. What a pitty...
I kind of hope all the rumored discounts will be for Insiders only, otherwise I'm gonna have to buy other stuff to fill the $30 void that the 75357 will fill so I can get my Battle Droid Carrier. And I'm already on shaky budget ground as it is.
The poster is clever because it is ambiguous over whether the figures are yellow or flesh toned.
JEDI BOB ON THE POSTER!

The discounts are, in the UK at least, already live and are indeed insiders rewards you redeem for 0 points and get a code, so you should be fine ignoring that and buying as usual without the discount.

grab the discount and buy a obi wan straighter or battle pack to get the 160 instead its what I'm doing
For the U.S., you can already redeem codes for $ Off the Ghost, Chewbacca, and Throne Room. Are the sets different elsewhere? Maybe there will be others tomorrow?
I like how the poster has Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress next to each other. I think that's just perfect.
I love that the poster shows the classic minifigure versions of some of the characters - e.g. Luke, Vader, Qui-Gon, Han, Lando, Boba, Chewie... - rather than their modern designs; as someone who's main interest i Lego Star Wars is nostalgia-based rather than current, it's a really nice touch. I enjoy the inclusion of more obscure characters too, like some of the video game characters (and, of course, Jedi Bob!).
I'm not an Insider, I don't buy enough Lego for that, so I'm not going to get the poster, but I still like it. The coin is nice, too, because I've always loved those classic logos that included the characters (just wish they'd had matching logos for the first AotC and RotS ranges as well!), but again.
Also, I see that Nien Nunb minifigure on the poster by Artoo's leg, too...

And here I thought that this was the intent all along. Marketing mantra being "buy often".
@SMC @Brainslugged @LukeSkywalker
I got a similar response as @SMC did back in November 2022.
In my limited experience -- two times -- of using set-specific discount vouchers like those available now, I redeemed the code for the physical item and then contacted customer service to ask about applying the discount. They instead awarded VIP points equivalent to the amount off for the set-specific voucher. For example, the Chewbacca discount is $35 here in the United States, so they would add 4,550 VIP points that I could redeem for $35 off any future purchase. Those "Choose Your Discount" vouchers can be redeemed in combination with a physical item.
It's certainly not a perfect solution and I can't guarantee its success -- you might want to use the customer service chat before placing your order -- but it's something and I hope this information helps. You could also go the old fashioned route of ordering over the phone and see if the representative can combine things for you.
Ah yes, the good old brick separator. Separates anything! Even a coin stuck in cardboard.

I'm in the same conundrum, and bought my 2nd and last Clone/Droid mega BP yesterday for 20% off JUST before discovering the VIP discounts *facepalm*

I don't see the problem here, what I did was simply redeem the code and fill the void with a 30 euro battlepack, this way you get the Ghost for basically the same price as it already would be, plus a free battlepack and all of the May the Fourth promotional stuff. Worst case scenario is that you have to resell the battle pack if you own it already.
Basically I would've gotten the Ghost for €170 plus all the free items, but now I got the Ghost for €165 plus all the free items and the battle pack.
@StyleCounselor:
President...Screw? Do you mean Skroob? As for the poster, it's got Darth Tantrum, so problem solved.

Docks problem was taken care of when new PAB parts went live a day earlier than expected. Green retro space helmets have already sold out for the initial batch. Set-specific codes have a dirty fix used in years past. If you want to claim a physical reward and one of these set discounts on the same purchase, what you do is use the physical reward code, and then call customer service to have them credit you for the discount, I believe by way of points equal to the discount (never used one before this year).
@Belboz:
GWPs and such are based on your subtotal before applying any discounts, and in NA, before adding any sales tax. You can discount that sucker down to $0 and still earn the GWPs.

I know where the name comes from. And that the common conception is technically wrong. The worst kind of wrong. Or would that be the best kind?

Of course, you know. It's Brooks backward.
Since I did it on purpose- because most people wouldn't recognize Skroob, and I prefer the profane mispronunciation- it must be the BEST kind.
Purposefully, mischievously, technically incorrect. ;)

Well, after two hours, three trips through the queueing system, and I don't know how many times of having to wait for my cart to remember that it did indeed exist, I got my order placed. Off to bed.
Could we please get a Brickset catalog entry for the coin? 5008899.
In the US, the coin was still available this morning, but the poster was already sold out.

I'm NOT buying that damn book!! Stop implying that I need to. There's nothing really interesting in there. They won't even give you any GWPs for buying the darn thing.
Will this be giving a set number? Will it appear in the Brickset database?

Besides, I don't have to. There's this guy on the interwebs called @Mandrproductions Reads Books. You can watch him read a book to you.
Can't wait till he does War and Peace!
