Swooning over those Jungle sets.

By in Netherlands,

Truck! Truck! Truck! Those 8x16 tiles better not be stickered!!!

Absolutely love the excavator and 18-wheeler crane too. I don't remember the elephant (or mammoth? Secret reference to the real life Mammoet company?) logo though, is that a new construction company in the lego universe?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I want them (almost) all! Never had a horbour set before... 60422 Harbour will be mine! Same for 60421 Robot World... usually not the biggest fan of theme-park based sets... but this one is too good to miss out. What else... yeah, basically all vehicles do it for me! :D ... what a wave of sets!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

City is hitting it out of the park ..

60407 , 60421 , 60440 and 60423 all straight on my want list which is rare for me when city sets come out.

By in Australia,

JOHNNY THUNDER IS BACK!

I mean, yeah, that's an awesome-looking harbour. And I love how the robot-themed roller coaster actually comes with a mecha (and not just any mecha, but on closer inspection, that's straight out of Exo-Force. A modern version of 7700). I still love the new tram set, too, it'll be a really lovely addition to my Lego railway.

But, like, Johnny Thunder is back. I am weirdly excited about it, and I don't even care.

By in United Kingdom,

Absolutely loved the harbour sets as a kid in the 90s. Good to see another one. I'm not into City sets now as an adult, but I am tempted by that Lego delivery truck if just to display my love for LEGO.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That harbour and bus would look good in my Anime-Ninjago City with some modification.

Those animals are fantastic!

The excavator and crane are amazing! But, why is a giant crane neede to lift the Johnny? Did someone drop a load of gold bricks in there?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh my gosh that’s a full on 7700 Stealth Hunter in that roller coaster! That’s awesome!

These look incredible!

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Besides the new animals and the Johnny Thunder figure the jungle sets themselves kinda disappoint me, I was hoping for more ruins and explorable areas like the last jungle theme, maybe even a Baron Von Barron return u_u

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Johnny Thunder! Exo-Force! References!

A great looking wave here. I'm struggling to see how 60408 has nearly a thousand pieces.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

DANG! It’s a strong CITY-line this season! So many instant must-buys - and then a few I would consider before bying (Robo-world and some of the Jungles)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

So many new animals!
And I like the excavator and the LEGO van.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

What an amazing line up! I would have made my parents bankrupt if this came out 32 years ago!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I think these and the Friends sets are the best in the newly announced ones. In my opinion anyway. There's too many I have to add to my Wants List. Hope some aren't too expensive or go on offer somewhere not too long afterwards,

I need those animals...and those construction vehicles...and the bus...and the harbour....and....

I agree. How many helicopters do I have to acquire in order to get the cool Lego animals? Hopefully, they will show up on PaB like the marine animals from the last wave.

Then again, it was cheeper to buy the safari sets (two waves ago) on deep discount than it was to get on all the animals separately from PaB. So, who knows?

"That's gotta be the biggest crane lego ever did and all that...for a porta potti"

At this point porta potty should become a set tag, haha. If I get this this will be my fourth (?) set that has one!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wow, City is absolutely killing it this summer! Some fantastic offerings incoming, and the playful nods to past themes are the icing on the cake. Exo-Force!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’m liking that low rider in the car transporter set.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Thank you Lego for animals and new plants.
That set with Tiger being so cheap is SO GOOD.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

City is clearly turning to be the best theme of 2024! With amazing space subtheme, great fire sets, new jungle animals with Johnny Thunder minifig, crane in this announcement, and many, many more….

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

It's cool how the Jungle explorers use the same colour scheme as the 2nd wave of arctic explorers (substituting medium azure for olive green, which makes sense) but I'm already missing the keetorange theme! Oh well. Which reminds me how long ago that subtheme was in stores... Seems like it just came out yesterday tbh.

I'm blown away by these sets though, what was the last time we saw a city boat *without* a preformed hull? And those construction vehicles (yay for construction!) seem like actual solid builds, definitely not as juniorized as many other City models have been recently. Loving all the big trucks really, the car transporter is awesome (and comes with not one, not two, but THREE cars? Holy heck, sign me up) and YES another LEGO truck! Plus this one actually has good accessibility for hands instead of straight up falling apart when you try to detach the roof... ahh, the memories. Not really a big fan of the cab's shape though, but perhaps it'll grow on me.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

the lego deilvery truck looks realy nice, but with a piececount more than a 1000, it will be in the 100€ range which is far too much for my taste. if all decorated pieces are prints, i'll be tempted. other than that it will be a pass for me..

Gravatar
By in Australia,

A great range of themes and sets - and proof that City isn’t all Police

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I feel sad for people going on that bus expecting to go see 60422 Harbour, but ending up at some other continent ;-)

Most of these seem pretty solid sets, though a heavy focus on the big and expensive ones. A few smaller ones, and very little in between. My favorite bits are those lowriders on the car transporter, those look....fire.

And good to see at least Lego is honest with their own delivery truck showcasing their color issues....

My thoughts exactly. Love the new printed parts with the logo, too.

Gravatar

Now these are my jam! I'll probably pick up the entire jungle line.

If you’re asking about city boats that float you don’t need go that far, either 60368 from the Exploration subtheme of 2023, or the fire boat 60373 from the same year :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So, wait a minute, a truck made of LEGO bricks needs a sticker on the side to make it look like it's made of LEGO bricks? I'll give them that it's a lovely looking truck, and the stack of micro-sets on the palettes are a thing of joy, but seriously LEGO, wagwan?

Gravatar
By in United States,

City is back! I had almost given up on it as a theme with all of the juniorization and this year’s earlier Space sub-theme, which are fine sets but which have no business being a sub-theme if City. I love the construction equipment, that tour bus (probably the least expensive bus we’ve seen), the roller coaster, the LEGO truck (mainly for those 8x16 tiles which I plan on pick-a-bricking and using as billboards) and —wow!—that harbor. I’m half-way through building my jetty on the waterfront section of my city, but may have to scrap it for this. At the very least, I am going to take some inspiration from it.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Very good CITY wave. The Crane, Excavator and Harbor especially are tickling my fancy. As does the rumored LEGO truck, for which pictures are already to be found on the www, but which has not been officially revealed (yet).

The LEGO truck has also been revealed and is in the post above.

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

In my opinion, these look like some of the best City sets in years. I feel the last few years, they have either tried to overly simplify things with larger pieces (even in non-4+ sets), or they have tried to incorporate too many gimmicky play features, and gaudy and garish colours. The last few years have been lack lustre and almost seemingly focused far more on a far younger demographic than a widee range of ages, especially when you compare to the sets that were released in the mid-2000s all the way up to the late 2010s.
A lot of these sets look like super detailed, great builds that will appeal to all ages

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Thank the gods, not a police or fire set in sight!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Best round of City sets I’ve seen in a long time. Not a dud in the bunch.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I love how LEGO made a big deal about 60304 Road Plates three years ago and how they would replace the old vacuum molded plates for the City theme. Fast forward to 2024 and there is only one set released or announced that uses one, and it's a single half-sized plate used as the foundation of 60414 Fire Station with Fire Truck this year. I quite liked these plates and used them as an excuse to build out my niece's City, so their absence this year is really disappointing.

Also, where're the new passenger and freight trains?! The old ones were just retired so it's time for new ones, and no, the streetcar doesn't count.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Dear Santa, I need two Harbour Sets, a Lego Delivery Truck, a Construction Crane and Construction Excavator and I promise to be a good boy for an undisclosed amount of time.
Finally some decent looking City sets.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@whaleyland said:
"Also, where're the new passenger and freight trains?! The old ones were just retired so it's time for new ones, and no, the streetcar doesn't count."

The current ones are just two years old (and retirement date TBA), while these train sets usually have a four year run. So don't expect new ones until 2026...

Gravatar
By in United States,

So if I'm understanding this correctly, Exo-Force is an in-universe video game, and 2148 met a monster planet that has given it a new body and new troops to command (and so 60408 should probably be on its guard).

Gravatar
By in United States,

New tiger? Olive green crocagators? JOHNNY THUNDER?!?! YYYYYAAAAASSSSS

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

60407 look exactly like Ho Chi Minh City & Hanoi city tour bus.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

how does the piece count work!? many sets do not look like they need to be built with that many pieces!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I need some of these for sure, especially that Lego truck for my in progress lego store modular (in progress as in I just got that idea.)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not just 60408, struggle to understand the piece count for 60409, 60420, and 60440...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

That mobile construction crane ??

Gravatar
By in United States,

Between the tram being Airport Monorail and this harbor looking pretty Launch & Load (though less industrial), it's a good time for Town/City!

I wish I'd picked up the Jungle Mobile Lab set a few years back, but didn't want to get fully into that theme. Nice to see JT is back though!

Gravatar
By in United States,

And those animals... awesome.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Lego menagment must be made of idiots. So many overbuilt sets.
That Car Transporter and that Lego Truck should have been 40$ max.

Gravatar
By in United States,

To me, the color scheme of the Jungle sets says 76278 Rocket's Warbird... and I like it! Also, more molded animals!! :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

For me, this is the strongest wave of City sets in quite a long time. There isn't one I will not be getting.

Thanks! Missed that one when scrolling down on my phone. I stand corrected :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Give me all the construction truck! That LEGO truck as well looks awesome! Could care less about the jungle sets and the new space sets but the new trucks and buses I NEED!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Tiny detail, but I love the elephant logo on the construction sets.

My experience in construction tells me that they're playing a prank on the guy inside.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like 60407 and 60423. The yellow building on the harbour looks out of place. I know they're trying to show it has history, but it doesn't work that well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is giving me 2010s vibes when I saw the Lego truck and the cargo ship too! AND FREAKING JOHNNY THUNDER IS BACK!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Robot World looks great! And the LEGO truck. Some fantastic sets it seems!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Great selection. My favorites are the harbour, the car transporter, and the construction excavator.
Some of the others look nice too, but no must haves for me. And since the original Johnny Thunder happened during my dark ages I'm not that interested in those sets. At least not for him anyway. Like the water plane and the new tiger though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I was just making an Exo-Force joke about Mechs, I ….can’t believe it!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Those animals look fantastic.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

The 2017 Jungle line was my favourite of the City Adventure subtheme, and these don't disappoint either. Definitely need the Tiger and Red Panda in my collection and the scenery is very well made. I'll also be picking up the bus and tram for my city (which is lacking in a public transport system at the moment). All in all, this might be one of the best summer waves for City in a while.

How is that LEGO truck 1000 pieces though?

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

The harbor is one of things I need to do my City, while the animals are cool the only thing that calls to me out of interest is that Johnny Thunder look alike.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@RaiderOfTheLostBrick said:
"How is that LEGO truck 1000 pieces though?"
They probably included those pieces printed/stickered on those side panels too!

Be glad they didn't include the piece count of all the sets it is delivering. This could have easliy been the biggest Lego set ever! ;-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

want that tiger

Gravatar
By in United States,

The jungle animals look nice, but I wish the ratio was a little different. Instead of 90% vehicle / 10% habitat, maybe put a few more bricks into the habitat. It's funny when you compare the box art, with its lush setting, trees, rivers, and cliffs ... with the actual set against the white void. You realize how empty the sets really are.

The harbor and the tram are some of the best City sets in years. Those are both really nice looking sets.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The excavator reminds me of my favorite Technic set of all time, 8043, and in a very good way.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh my gosh, I want all of these! A fantastic wave of sets.

Not only do the Jungle sets use the same colour scheme as the Arctic sets from last year, they also use the same minifigure characters (plus Johnny Thunder)! So it seems the Arctic exploration team has gone on a new expedition. Neat bit of continuity!

Lovely to see some subject matter we haven't seen City depict in years, such as the Harbour, Car Transporter, Lego Truck and Construction sets! It's going to be an expensive summer :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

Johnny Thunder!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

8x16 tiles on the truck look like prints! That’s a must-have for the collection.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm really digging that double-decker bus!

And I don't think I have space for it, but that robo-coaster is super cool!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like all of these - my wallet will not be happy!

Maybe I can at least justify a good GWP later in the year?

Gravatar
By in United States,

That harbor looks like a descendant of 6542 from 1991 - it even has a brick-built boat! Swoon!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Minus three sets, I like them all. I will certainly put a big effort to get all the jungle sets (as I try to get all the Lego animals) and many others.

With all those wonderful sets, I am surprised that there are unfortunately no recolours useful for my current moc - that'll to wait another year...

The crane seems to have a few very interesting new parts. The most interesting one being the plates that mesh with the infinite screw. The stabiliser feet also seem to have a new part - but hard to tell for sure.

Lego is on a roll. Good for them, good for us, bad for our finance. It's always nice when everybody on the forum is pleased - does not happen often (and I am guilty as everyone else to bicker about a toy from time to time).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

AHH, in the robot world set! That's the Stealth Hunter from Exo-Force! (7700) Fantastic to see that theme get acknowledged - and in minifigure scale too! Just too bad that none of the minifigures look like Hikaru to match it... they could have had an updated version him walking around the set as if he was one of those theme park meetable costume characters or something!

Nice to see Johnny Thunder again too; and that's definitely one cool-looking minifigure scale tiger with him in that one set. I'm happy with my classic versions of Johnny, honestly, but it's nice to see him making a comeback even so ^^

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is like a "Greatest Hits" wave. Well done Lego!

Gravatar
By in Romania,

Love the 6508 reference in the city harbor. It was my first ever set!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Johnny, is that you?! Gasp!

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

City is one of the top themes of 2024. So many great looking sets. And finally the proper remake of the classic 7249. Really hope I can get this one, 7249 was a dream set of mine when I was a kid.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Finally a new harbor set with a brick built ship(!!). However I think they should just go full industrial without that shop. Maybe a truck.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, I'm floored by this lineup. It will get very expensive. Love the Lego Truck in particular, I have 3221 which was great at the time, but this looks much better. That GORILLA FAMILY(!) looks like a big win as well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Correct me if I’m wrong, but is that also Pippin Reed and Harry Cane alongside Johnny Thunder?

I think those tiles are prints, as you can see the injection mould point in the centre of the left tile. If they were stickers, that would be covered up.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What an awesome wave, loooove the harbor.

Can't believe they're putting an obvious moneymaker like the red panda in such a tiny set!

Gotta do something to distinguish him from that Henry Jones Jr. guy who has his own sets in production.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not usually a City fan, but these are amazing. I love the Jungle sets. But even the construction sets look good, which I'd never otherwise buy.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

These are solid city sets, but pricing will be a killer for sure.

The Jungle ones are very disappointing. Yes, there are great new animal molds, but the sets are very inspiring. Almost no story telling, as they like to say on "Lego Masters". The previous Jungle sub-theme was much better, and had more "scene" in it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm such a sucker for what's now a series of Yellow Lego Semi Trucks. I still love 3221 and this new one will be fantastic next to it. Just need to get 335-2 and 6692. There's just something irrestiable about a Lego truck carrying Lego boxes.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want that 1950's lowrider from the transporter, simply to make it back into a regular car.

Gravatar

Gravatar

Little me would have been pleased with this line-up!
I always enjoyed 6542 and this new harbour has similar vibes.
That excavator is really well done too.

Gravatar

How does this Johnny Thunder compare to the Shadowbox ver...I mean the CMF figure of him that came out recently? (recently being relative)

Not that it really matters to me all that much, I will be getting that set, possibly more than one just for the red panda.

Edit: oh geez, its been 5 years!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These are all great and will sell very well! The only one I will definitely get though is the tour bus, as much as like the others they don’t really fit in my city.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Johnny Thunder!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Please stop, I can't spend that much money!

That mobile crane doesn't hold a candle to the OG 7249 though.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

I got the reference and I claaaaaaaaapped!

but seriously, those sets are pretty good!

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Spectacular City sets!! The excavator, the crane, the port and the tram are amazing!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

YES, IT'S JOHNNY THUNDER! And in a pair of affordable-looking sets, too! This is a good day, mates!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Finally some construction sets!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

With all the new animal molds LEGO needs to do a ZOO theme ;)
And that LEGO truck. It is a 8 wide cab and has large size doors like in all of my truck MOC's.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

That lego delivery truck 60440 would go well with 910009 store.

Will be an expensive June.... :D I mean, the Lego Delivery Truck, the Car Transporter and the double decker bus are really nice and will be perfect for modding... so yeah, gonna be nice :D and as mentioned expensive :D

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I always find it weird how large City is as a theme. Regular city stuff, theme parks, jungle adventures, space sets, ...? I wonder why the decision was made to keep all of this under a single banner.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Johnny Thunder!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Disappointed by the Jungle sets. The orange and blue colour scheme would fit artic or anything else better really. Swap these out with polar bears and penguins and the vehicles could stay the same. Hopefully we get a desert theme next year with a lot more imagination put into it.

Just don't buy first day, wait for discounts. It's City so don't buy it without at least a 30% discount....

Now my fee for this advice is just €500 ;-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The jungle sets depress me. They indicate that again Lego has no interest or confidence in it's historic IP. So we just get a Johnny Thunder skin suit, rather than an independent and fully fleshed out theme.

Love the car transporter and excavator! LEGO truck and harbour are nice, as is the construction crane. Good thing for the crane the road plates don't have curves nowadays.

By in Hong Kong,

I grew up with 3221 so I'll definitely get 60440 to display side by side with my original copy, whenever I decide to dig out the parts and rebuild it.
Also I'm trying to build a Ninjago City, so when I mod 60422 it will go nicely with 60417 in creating the docks where Vengestone is offloaded in Ninjago Crystalized.

"I always find it weird how large City is as a theme. Regular city stuff, theme parks, jungle adventures, space sets, ...? I wonder why the decision was made to keep all of this under a single banner."
That’s a good question. I suspect it boils down what LEGO’s market research has found, that kids - who make up the vast majority of buyers/recipients - will purchase across City sub-themes more if they’re all under a single City brand. To get kids to make the leap under different themes would cost significantly more in marketing. I have no proof of or evidence for any of that. It’s just my guess.

"Will be an expensive June.... :D I mean, the Lego Delivery Truck, the Car Transporter and the double decker bus are really nice and will be perfect for modding... so yeah, gonna be nice :D and as mentioned expensive :D "

Just don't buy first day, wait for discounts. It's City so don't buy it without at least a 30% discount....

Now my fee for this advice is just €500 ;-)"

Maybe for Holland customers. We really can only hope for 20% prior to any later Clearance opportunities.

My fee for this advise is €400 (20% Off) :o)

I'm not really the biggest City fan, but both 60409 and 60420 are very nice pieces of construction equipment with stellar builds.

I was expecting more from new Jungle theme. And that container ship to be in size like 60266

A big excavator, finally! And a big crane, both must have for me.

Excited for the Car Transporter, but wish that they had made it in the same colourscheme as the smaller one from earlier in the year (60406). I think black, cyan, and pink would have made this truck look really awesome!

Also excited for the yellow LEGO truck, but not overly keen on the side panel decals. I think I won't be adding the graphics to the side of the truck, and will instead opt to keep it plain yellow.

"So, wait a minute, a truck made of LEGO bricks needs a sticker on the side to make it look like it's made of LEGO bricks? I'll give them that it's a lovely looking truck, and the stack of micro-sets on the palettes are a thing of joy, but seriously LEGO, wagwan?"

Ahahahahahaha

Great ideas here, even love the red juniorized convertible
