By in United States,

Temple City looks great, and the line-up is amazing. The dragon emerging from the bridge totally gives me the creeps.

Would still like to see a big baddie build, though!

By in United Kingdom,

Temple city, Cole mech and source dragon are the obvious stand outs, the arena battle is a little too expensive IMO, and I know the combo vehicle is pretty controversial/decisive. I’m not liking the zane bike.

Cannot wait to see some reviews of these sets!

By in United States,

This is the most Ninjago-looking wave ever, which isn't a bad thing! Most sets here are done rather perfectly

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love the Ultra Agents throwback figs. I know they were in the show previously, but it's nice to see them again.

Also, I NEED that monocle-wearing figure for my 1920's style layout, and the clockwork-looking guard is a must have as well.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Temple city set is very impressive, but I still find the Temple of Airjitzu a bit more visually appealing.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

That Source Dragon of Motion is jaw-drop amazing

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Man, that first set looks like a remake of an early 2000 set...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am glad Ultra Agents managed to survive just a little bit through crossing into Ninjago. Didn't expect two of the characters to show up in these sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Titan mech is a day 1 buy. I wish we still had the original Toxikita hairpiece, but this new one is a bit more fitting for the design (idk if she even has a character/personality)

100%. That set was rare in how perfect it was both to display and as a playset--it's a good comparison point as well, as it provided the whole ninja line-up at the time, had a bridge connecting various smaller buildings, and centered around the temple. This one does have some things going for it, though. Those caverns and rock formations certainly "elevate" its presence. The one thing I didn't like about the Temple of Airjitzu was how flat (and consequently fragile) it was.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The amount of sets I want this summer got to be pushing 15 hundred dollars.

Not complaining, obviously. As a ninjago fan,I'll definitely be buying the dragon, mech, temple, and maybe the tournament.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

I prefer the Dragon Shrine to this temple, but I have Temple of Airjitzu which covers that base. This definitely could work in conjunction with those two, if one was so inclined.

The Titan Mech is awesome, even if you don't care about Ninjago. That sword is freaking epic!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The buildings only have 2 sides. You need to boxes to make it a whole thing. Sorry but I don't get it people are okay with that, bricks aren't that expensive as "other" brick companies show us.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I wasn't expecting Tox and Paleman to show up, super excited to see what role they have in this!!

As much as I like her old hair, the replacement of that is used by Nya and Pixal. Having 3 characters with it would too much, even if we haven't seen Pixal yet.

Yes, this set is definitely much ambitious from a structural level - as you might expect after almost ten years! I just wish the pagoda was a bit more visually enticing; it’s certainly complex, but it would benefit from some stronger colours, I think.

71814 Tournament Temple City: beautiful, but too expensive and not my interest. pass
71816 Zane's Ice Motorcycle: not bad, but nothing interesting except an exclusive minifigure. pass.
71818 Tournament Battle Arena: incredible build, fantastic minifigures, and such a great price, pick up
71820 Ninja Team Combo Vehicle: awful. almost no similarities to the ultra stealth raider it's meant to be based on, is really just a lloyd vehicle with detatchable side-builds rather than a "team" vehicle, and a horrendous price. pass
71821 Cole's Titan Dragon Mech: the fact that it has full articulation only elevates it's great design. pick up.
71822 Source Dragon of Motion: magnificient, but too expensive for me to break my disinterest in dragons. pass.

Must... not... buy... more... mechs.... or.... dragons......Aaaaaaarrgh!!!

I can't do it, Sam.

I needs those. There so big, and cool, and firey, and posable. My Precious. I needs them!!

Oh God!! The playsets are damn good too. Thank goodness that combi-vehicle isn't for me.

Where's all going to go? Can I move into the Brickset Towers? I think we're about to reach Mrs. StyleCounselor's limit.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

3500 pieces in the Temple set ... umm, where?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would love a full lineup of Mechs / Ninjas who all had the same color balance of white + character colors that Cole’s mech has.

"Echo Zane???"

Now THAT would be a crazy character return.

Wonder if the set depiction of Cole facing off with Ras will be reflected in the animated series storyline. It would be an intriguing matchup between two powerhouses.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice use of that Ornithopter blade!

Gravatar
By in United States,

That Dragon has got to be the best lego dragon by far!!! I was recently becoming disappointed with the ninjago line, but this is a great return. I have Stormbringer, which I think is awesome, but this dragon tops it by a mile. I'm just wondering how it compares to the dragon from set 21348.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I need that temple, what a beautiful set..

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm not super into Ninjago (mainly I love the dragons, and the theme music) but I do like Master Wu.

Don't see him here though...

Break it to me gently: is he dead...?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think city is stretching the definition a bit but that’s lovely - good size and play features for the price too.

I expect there’ll be a comparison YouTube video soon enough. But my feeling based purely on images - I have Cinderhowl but haven’t assembled her yet - is that Cinderhowl is beefier and heavier but has smaller dimensions (length and wingspan), is less well articulated, and is not as playable. I reckon that the Motion Dragon’s wings are too narrow for its size though; they don’t look like they could provide the necessary lift.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The combo of the temple and arena looks especially impressive. LEGO has a photo of that possibilty on their website.

By in Australia,

Are we not talking about those AWESOME mini, trans-orange dragon figs in 71822?

Is this a new mould or have I just not spotted it before now?

It *is* a new mould. There’s also a gold version in 71818.

I’m hoping to get my hands on the fiery one and use it as Cinderhowl’s hatchling in 21348.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

If I get that Temple set, I’d probably remove the Temple and put it somewhere else and use the rocky base in my medieval area

In the show he's currently MIA, I doubt that he's dead though. He has appeared in the show this season but it was a scene set in the past

This is the fourth Titan mech to feature the white + ninja color scheme, after Lloyd’s, Zane’s and Jay’s. They look great together, and I look forward to picking up Cole’s.

Oops I seemed to have made a mistake before. I meant to say Griefbringer 71721, not Stormbringer 70652. Sorry about that.
In any case, I do agree with your observation about the small wings, especially comparing it to Griefbringer 71721. However, I still think that the model looks great overall.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@AgentKallus
Thanks for the clarification!

Also, is Wyldfyre a D.J.?

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

That mech has a strong shogun megazord vibe, if you ask me, and that’s very cool

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the Source Dragon, and new designs for Paleman and Tox are sweet!

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Cole's Titan mech looks really good, looks like it has actual working knee joints. Probably the best Titan mech so far

But the temple is a playset. Other Ninjago sets aimed at an older audience do have enclosed structures. But think of location-based Ninjago playsets as dollhouses, how are kids supposed to play with a fully enclosed dollhouse?

This is also the fourth Titan Mech overall. I would like to see one for Kai and Nya (which is surprising that Kai hasn't received one yet, considering he's the most popularly marketed and even Cole and Jay got one before him)

And of course, Nya's always sidelined.

By in Poland,

Im very dissapointed in these sets and I am suprised so many people like them.

The tournament for example is a solid fig pack but the build has NO PLACE FOR FIGS. Even on promo.pics they but punch of figs where you cant put them in real life.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I can already see this dragon will have problems with its own weight. The First bourne was big dragon and she already had problems. Other big dragons always seemed very fragille as well like Zanes Ice creature from recent time.
We will see...

In the unnecesary overdetailed base.

Gravatar
By in United States,

71814 is... wow. Just wow. Incredible base, gorgeous temple. Not much more needs to be said.

71821 also catches my eye because Cole has always been my favorite of the original 4. A bit strange how he's the only minifigure in the set, a departure from the norm, but it's an amazing-looking mech and the Cole figure seems to be an interesting new design.

71822 Ninjago is known for its dragons and this set does not disappoint. All the stuff on its back almost feels unnecessary. The dragon will definitely stand strong by itself :D

Respectfully, as a TFOL myself, I must say I agree with you, but your argument doesn't work here because of the set is rated 14+

HOWEVER, there is another argument to be made...
By leaving the back open, it is much easier to look inside and put minifigures in it! This is pretty much the same reason playsets for kids have, but instead of it being for play, it's for display (you need to imagine the nerd emoji while reading this XD)

It's branded as a regular retail set, and I classify any sets that aren't branded under UCS, Icons or the Ninjago City lineup as playsets. The age rating is probably due to the fact that the set is quite large and has some complicated-looking building techniques

As a soon-to-be AFOL myself (by September woohoo) I must say, even now I love to play with my sets from time to time- er, I mean, have the occasional fun swoosh around the room with my TIE fighters and A-wings.!

I'm really glad that the back of most location-based sets are left open, even with sets like Barad-Dur, it really makes it fun to pose and display figures!
