Vote for minifigures to appear in the LEGO Ideas Minifigure Prize Machine

Posted by ,

The latest LEGO Ideas results were announced earlier this month and the Minifigure Prize Machine by Goosestore was one of the projects selected for production. Of course, the model will need minifigures to go inside.

LEGO has thus launched a poll to determine two of the minifigures included, choosing a new colour for the Classic Space astronaut and a Castle faction, which could be a returning faction from older sets, or a brand new one. Vote on LEGO Ideas here.

Which colour of Classic Space astronaut and Castle faction received your votes? Let us know in the comments.

By in United States,

I voted for gold astronaut, as with a plain gold head added instead it would make a good statue.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Warm gold feels like the most obvious choice for the astronaut, idk. Really nice that they're taking a degree of fan input!

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Really interested in what the chtulhu castle faction could look like

By in United Kingdom,

Gold and Kraken...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Ideas says I can't access that page :(

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I guess the set will be 200€+ for that many mini figures.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Broken!

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Warm Gold and Krakens for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The kraken, griffin, and raven are all appealing to me, but I voted for the raven because my tournament knight is a little lonesome.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Azure and Kraken

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Bright Bluish Green and griffin

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Voted for the gold astronaut and the Krakens!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I went with gold for the spacemen, since it’s a legit different colour rather than a different shade of something we already have.

Went with griffins for the knights, since again it’s something different but had similar vibes to some of the designs we’ve seen before

Gravatar
By in United States,

BRIGHT BLUISH GREEN & GRIFFINS, please.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I voted kraken and lime

I should have voted raven and teal

Regardless I think they’ve got a lock on me for buying the silly little prize machine

I voted the same way!

Gravatar
By in France,

They forgot Bright Light Blue, the only missing color from the original Everyone is Awesome to convert it to Everyspacemen is Awesome. :(

Really, really hard choice.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I went with Dark Azure and the Kraken faction, I can’t wait to see what nautical goodness the knight could end up looking like!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I voted for the bright bluish green astronaut and the Krakens. Would honestly be happy with any of these colors for the classic space astronaut, would be great to get all of them. Wish we could also officially get light bluish grey (including the air tanks and helmet) and green (without having to pick up the helmet and the minifig from the exo suit separately), hopefully some day. But this is encouraging and I will be looking forward to this ideas set!!!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Teal and Krakens! Though the kraken knights look like they'd be at least a bit teal as well...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, really, our only choices are Classic Space and Classic Castle? Nah, just kiddin', love it! Teal and Kraken!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Here me got. 2 of each in the set. And most of us will buy regardless of price within reason. Or sell an extension pack.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I voted for gold. It's the only color that stands out from the existing ones. The other 4 colors are too similar to all the astronauts released so far.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The astronaut is easy, gold.
The Castle fraction is really hard. I'd be happy with any of them, but I voted for the Griffin.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Bright Green and Crow. Or Lime and Raven as they should be named.

Was gonna vote gold, but being a Transformers fan too, the old Gold Plastic Syndrome put me off the idea.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Teal and Azure would fill the curent rainbow the best, with Lime comming in in third.

Although I fully expect the gold to win, because people like shiny things. Personally I would prefer if they saved it for a full commemorative space set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Violet and Kraken.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Bright Bluish Green and Griffins!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Reddish Violet & Griffin for me.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Gold would be the only disappointment for me since it's the colour I would want the least out of these options. Naturally then this colour will win, or so it seems.
Then again it will mean I don't have to buy the set. Money saved.

Since Castle isn't my theme I don't care who wins that category. The best looking for me is the Raven one, but that is guaranteed to lose as well. Don't know why so many favor the Kraken. Something maritime is the last thing that comes to mind when I think about Castle. And we have castles galore around here, real ones I mean.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dark Azure and Crows. The Dark Azure astronaut will go well with the Dark Azure astronauts from City Space 2022 and 2024. I think the Crows emblem looks better than any of the other Castle emblems in the vote.

@AustinPowers: there are plenty of castles built on European coasts. Germany just doesn't have a very long coastline.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

First time seeing this particular Ideas submission somehow, but I've had a gumball machine the exact same colour full of minifigures on my desk for years, so this is an instant buy for me.

Also yes, Gold and Kraken.

Gravatar

Gold and Kraken!

By in United Kingdom,

I was able to vote for the first time ever on Ideas! Woohoohoohoo!!!

I went with Bright Bluish Green and Kraken but I’d be happy with whatever colour and faction wins. I’m just pleased they went with Classic Space and Castle.

I’ll probably be looking to sell the Ideas set, sans minifigures of course. The fan design looks smart enough but the theme doesn’t appeal to me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Azure & Kraken

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Gold astronaut and Crow faction is my pick!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dark Azure and Kraken.

Dark Azure due to the connection with City Space and Galaxy Squad.

And the Kraken... I'm imagining....
-An underwater based kingdom of dark green, teal, and glowing parts. Similar to the colour scheme of 70427 Welcome to Hidden Side.
-Big figs with octopus for heads commanding smaller, similarly tentacled minions.
-A tattered mid-size sailing vessel.
-A large crudely built submarine (they don't care if it leaks).
-A couple of smaller landing craft being gently pushed to the shore by THE KRAKEN!
-A dark and glowy coral reef shaped base with a giant Brain coral at the center.

The shield might as well also represent Illithids and Mind Flayers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

WAIT!!!!! I didn't realize Dark Azure was one of the spaceman colors! PLEASE LET ME TAKE MY VOTE BACK

Gravatar

@iwybs said:
" @AustinPowers: there are plenty of castles built on European coasts. Germany just doesn't have a very long coastline."
Actually the coastline is longer than one might think. But there are very few castles along our coastlines. Especially compared to down here in the southern parts of the country.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Voting against is easier for me than voting for. I would take any of those astronauts, but warm gold is actually the least appealing to me. I voted azure, but every time I go back to look at the options, I find myself wanting them all.

For castle factions, anything other than the bull would be welcome. The bull graphic on this is actually really good, I just wasn't overly attached to Knights' Kindgom I as a subtheme. I voted Kraken as it would be unique among LEGO castle faction liveries.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Teal and Krakens for sure! Hopefully we get all of those colors one day.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The only 'correct' thing to do is to make them all. The minifigs portion is a little bit more resources intensive (but nothing a multi billions dollar company cannot manage). Making an 'every spaceman is awesome' would satiate most Space fans for a very long time. The new Durmstrang Ship 76440-1 has quite a few new shields already - so if Lego can do 4 new shields for just one set, it can easily do 4 more and 'sprinkle' them around throughout the year.

In order of preference: reddish violet (magenta), bright yellowish green (lime), bright blueish green (teal), warm gold and Dark Azure.

While the Logo is quite nice, I don't see the link between castle factions and Krakens - but I 'm willing to be surprised if Lego ever decide to build the theme. Here I chose the Griffins.

Gravatar
By in Bulgaria,

That griffin shield just looks so HoMM.

It is interesting that LEGO has kraken and griffin shield designs. CMF figs maybe?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gold and Bulls (I'm a Taurus, so that was an easy pick for me). Glad to see many others like gold too!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lime/Bright Yellowish Green for Classic Space so that it'd match the aliens from the new space sets

Krakens for Castle. Bulls weren't very appealing and neither is the black/yellow combo of the 71027-4 Tournament Knight. Griffins would be the safe bet for a "normal" knight, but I'd rather get some wilder "spooky" colors, if not new undersea-themed helm/armor molds (or just Vidiyo reuses...)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I voted teal and crows as: they've teased the light blue before, so I'm of 'the mindset' that it's 'in the hopper', and we have but one crow (a CMF at that)...so,,,yeah:)

Also, if we were in 'the best world', we wouldn't have to chose: ALL those SPACE-folk would be in a "SPACE Squad 2.0" set...same with the knights (but in 'Castle' of course:))

Oh @shedjed (and others), vote then refresh your page; it should put it through/take the vote part down.

Gravatar

Like many here, I went for Gold and Kraken. Even if they don't end up doing the Kraken, I hope that the Castle figure at least ends up being a new one, as. We've gotten several new colors of Spaceman (and will be getting a new one with this), let Castle get in on the fun!

GPS doesn't worry me, as I've never encountered it with Lego. As for for Lego fans who are also into Transformer, I know @Andrusi is, and there's also the fact that 9,283 people own 10302, one of whom is me.

That, in kind, got a genuine chuckle out of me. Look, it's really simple: print the logo on every color torso ever produced. Release "Benny's Space Squad" with new colors every year forever. Done! So simple! I'm good until I think of the next thing...oh, and bricks with the CS logo! Oh, and computers! So many computers! Oh, and...an "undamaged" Benny for goodness sake...and...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Bull (for the KK1 **and** KK2 vibes) and turquise/teal for me--but variety is nice, and I like all of them, on both sides. What I'd really like is a modern set with the black Futuron: such a basic, cool colour and the only OG with no modern representation.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Let's go, Krakens and teal classic spaceman!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Going with azure spaceman, to fill in that missing light blue spaceman spot in Everyone is Awesome, and for callbacks to Alien Conquest and Galaxy Squad. Gold is absolutely hideous and I don’t know why everyone’s voting for it

And Bulls, because Knights Kingdom is cool

Gravatar

By in Hungary,

I'd like to campaign a bit for "119 - BRIGHT YELLOWISH GREEN", a.k.a. "Lime" on Bricklink.

Many moons ago, LEGO released two board games, 3842 Lunar Command and 3850 Meteor Strike. They had five microfigures adorned with Classic Space logos: Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange and Lime. The first four already exist in minifigure form, but Lime is missing. Please, help me complete my collection of minifig/microfig pairs!

Gravatar

Kraken and Dark Azure, sounds like a new theme :)
I like these anyway, vote ‘em!

BTW, thank you TLG for doing this. It’s about time! The recent CMF space I was not interested in, because it did not include one new color variant of the classic space MAN. Too bad you didn’t get my money there. Come get my money, let’s go. Do the right thing.

Basically, Lego does 'battle packs' for Star Wars fans so they can build their 'armies'. For Classic Space this is easier, there are no new parts - it's all the same parts but in different colours.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Kraken is really cool but if they incorporate it into the castle theme I hope they don't go too hard into the supernatural.

Castle is kinda classic fantasy so something like a cult-like faction, maybe with their own wizard, and a sea monster would be great. Going to hard into the Cthulhu stuff wouldn't feel quite in place with the standard Lego castle theme to me.

Star Wars is also a multi-billion dollar franchise, and Classic Space is….not that.

And no, it would still take new parts. At least with SW, they typically re-use the same figure multiple times, so a pack with 4 minifigs could only need 3-6 new minifig parts. For CS, each minifig would need a helmet, torso, and unprinted legs. Automatically 3 new elements for any color, which isn’t crazy for one minifig but when y’all are asking for every color TLG makes, I think we can see how that’s unrealistic, especially since CS is not that big of a draw for their actual market.

Agreed, gold looks disgusting, the two blue ones are definitely best

Gravatar
By in United States,

My sense is that gold will win, simply because most of the other colors are closer to already existing ones. The only exception to that is dark azure, which is my personal favorite of these.

Bright bluish-green and Griffins for me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Gold for Space and Kraken for Castle seem to be the more popular choices here.

I’m fairly ambivalent about the new spaceman colour; gold is certainly the most *different* of the choices.

I guessed that they may consider reviving the Raven of the CMF Tournament Knight — that’s a solid choice as it was very popular and I’m actually a little surprised that they haven’t opted to include one somewhere within the revived Castle sets.

Of the new designs, I like the Griffin design but I definitely think it would look clearer and more distinctive if the griffin itself was all white rather than half-grey.

What kind of nonsense are you talking about? For CS: the helmet exists already, the oxygen tank exists already, the torso exists already, the legs exist already, the head exists already. Done. Have you ever heard of 6701-1 , 6711-1 , 6702-1 ? If Lego could do that in the 1980s, I don't see how it would be so difficult to do it now. For SW (while I will concede to you that the demand is most likely orders of magnitude greater) new parts (mostly helmets) have to be made for each variant of 'something' (Storm, sand, snow, 501, 212, etc) troopers. You do realize that already 11 colours have been made for CS (red, white, yellow, black, blue, green, orange, grey(minus the helmet), pink, purple and brown)? As mentioned above the light blue is basically the only one missing to get all the colours represented in 'everyone is awesome'. Finally, we don't need to have ALL the colour that Lego produces as this is now a ridiculously large number - all we need is 'access' to a few colours. As of now, only white torsos are available on PaB (maybe two or three colours would be fine and maybe changing them every year to keep customers buying). Anyway, I suppose we can just agree to disagree.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dark Azure for classic space. For castle faction, Crows of course! That CMF minifig from 2020 needs more members added to his faction.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@HOBBES:
I think what he was getting at is that, unless you can point to a minifig that uses the unprinted legs or torso assembly in a given color, those would count against their allotment of recolors. When the Exo-Suit was produced, white turned out to be too costly of a color because it would have used up too many of these recolors. The three colors that have been noted as more feasible were blue (because of Benny), black (because of Vader), and green (because of Leonardo/Raphael). Technically, they should have also had the option of bright-green (Donatello/Michelangelo). If you can't get both of those from another theme, you've got to allocate recolors for four elements per minifig, plus you still have to account for the torso print.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I voted for gold astronaut and The Krakens.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@HOBBES A recolored part is still a new element, even if the mold already exists. You’re still taking up an entirely new bin, a whole new step of the process. But you’re right, I forgot about the airtanks! So that’s 4 new *elements* for each CS recolor, again for very little gain. Afols are a very smal portion of TLG’s bottom line, and CS fans are a portion of Afols. CS recolors aren’t a goldmine, they’re a gimmick

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lime 'n Kraken.

But, really want them all. Typical AFOL.

Gravatar
By in United States,

IMHO, warm gold was interesting before all the Harry Potter anniversary figures and Ninjago usage. It would be my least favorite of the 5.

For the castle faction, I was surprised that I had never previously seen the Bull. Looking back, I guess I was hyper focused on Star Wars at that time and still closing out a dark age. It’s interesting to see what options were provided. It makes me wonder if other previous factions might already be in the pipeline. I quite like the Bull but would be happy with most other than House Gryffindor.

I went with Kraken as what is dead may never die.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm sure that AFOLs will have level-headed reactions to whatever color space astronaut and castle faction are announced as the winners and be happy to be receiving anything for such niche markets, right?

Imagine your favorite theme. Now, imagine it has a really killer, thematically appropriate logo. Now, imagine you are a kid and you're lucky enough to have sets with that logo on your minifigs' toros. Now, imagine over several years (as a kid, so...eons) that they release this same fig several times over in different colors. Bright, primary, poppin' colors.

Now imagine you're old and you are collecting LEGO again...maybe coming out of a dark age. You pop into your local LEGO retailer to see what the latest [favorite theme] sets are like, but alas...the sets that you knew as a staple of childhood are no longer around. And won't be. For years. And years. And then, out of nowhere, LEGO releases a few "classic minfig" box sets with your little guys in there. And then, a few years later, a thing called Cuusoo comes along and out of nowhere, drops a couple of these same figs in a nifty little set in a color they've never been available in before. Same basic design (with a single modern substitution due to production limitations at the time). And then, years after that, a LEGO movie appears and includes a fairly significant character from your favorite theme in the classic style! And then a bit of resurgence occurs and you start seeing more and more of the thing you were looking for when you came out of your dark age all those years ago! And you get a bit excited!

But why? That's an honest question to everyone who voted for gold.
It looks like vomit in the picture. Totally nondescript. At least any of the other choices has some presence.
I absolutely don't get why so many favor the gold version. I would have thought it would come absolutely rock-bottom last since it's so disgustingly ugly. Couldn't imagine that anyone could even consider it, going by the other available choices. "

I can't speak for anyone else (although I think others in this thread have expressed the same sentiment), but I chose it because the others were too close to colors we already have."

But gold is just as close to yellow as some of the others are to existing colours. Evident by the face, which is showing very little contrast to the helmet.

But I hope lego just revealed the next 5 space fig colors xD with the most voted one going into that set and the other 4 in upcoming sets next year.

Well, yellow was always my favorite color for those guys (due to the fact that 6780 was my first Space set), so that similarity (which I don't really see, anyway) doesn't bother me.

Brickset should post a poll to see what the readers want most. It would be interesting to see if Lego's decision aligns with us, who I would assume are the majority of Lego fans bothering to actually vote.

I picked dark azure and kraken.

This is speculation on my part, but if I'm picking up on context clues correctly, they already did and thought better of it and removed it so as not to detract and/or confuse folks to the point that they didn't cast a vote on the LEGO Ideas site.

Both wrong. I know for a fact it’s the Mind Flayer/Illithid faction. I can be so certain because my tentacle-faced overlords told me so. All hail the Elder Brain!

Removing the poll is the right move. Brickset is one of the largest fansites in the community. While it would be nice to see what the site wants, it would very quickly be used for nefarious claims if the Ideas vote doesn't match the vote here. Like any hobby some of the hardcore fans are the worst fans

So, put the most popular one in an expensive set that’s hard to obtain, and the other four in a cheap battle pack?

By in Norway,

Since BS chickened out of their poll, I tried to count what people said they voted here in the comments (including my own vote for azure and Kraken):

Gold 26
Teal 21
Azure 18
Lime 6
Magenta 4

Kraken 45
Griffin 16
Crow 9
Bull 5

Gold (despite looking rubbish), teal and azure are pretty even, while very few has voted for lime and magenta. Kraken has a strong lead among Castle factions, maybe due to the Cthulhu theme or the possibility of nice ships.

By in United Kingdom,

@axeleng , Thanks for totting up the straw poll. Very cool. I suspect that some may have ‘liked’ to indicate they agreed with both choices mentioned in that post. What happens if you include the ‘likes’, splitting a ‘like’ for a particular colour and shield combo 0.5 votes to each?

Gravatar
By in Norway,

@Zander said: "What happens if you include the ‘likes’..."

I'd think the uncertainty (not to mention hassle!) would be too high, as I can't see which "likes" comes from the same or different people. Let's say five people said "Teal and Kraken" and they all upvoted each others' posts (while no-one else did) so they each had 4 "likes", that would leave an impression teal and Kraken got 15 votes each instead of just 5.

This is also why I'm sceptical to the initial qualification process for the "set of the year" votes. I hope the admins has better tools for weeding out duplicate votes, but the process still feels rather random.

Didn't vote for it, but I like gold. Gold in person looks better than the gold in the picture. It has a nice shine effect to it that other colours don't. The fact it would be the first metallic spaceman colour is plenty of reason for people to want it.

Except it isn't metallic. If it was LEGO's metallic gold colour I would have immediately voted for it, since that would have been awesome, but this is just the normal "warm gold", which isn't metallic at all, only that slightly off yellow-brownish mix, which compared to true metallic gold looks just as sad in reality as it does in the picture.

I was feeling the same way! I just reassembled my Everyone Is Awesome set yesterday and was lamenting the missing light blue space man. (Okay and Bright Green, but I might just swap out the tiles and bricks to match the exosuit Green Spacefolks.)

Gold figure, he's the man
The fig with the Midas touch
A spider's touch
Such a cold finger
Beckons you to enter his web of sin
But don't go in

Golden words he will pour in your ear
But his lies can't disguise what you fear
For a golden girl knows when he's kissed her
It's the kiss of death from Mister gold figure
Pretty girl, beware of his heart of gold
This heart is cold

Golden words he will pour in your ear
But his lies can't disguise what you fear
For a golden girl knows when he's kissed her
It's the kiss of death from Mister gold figure
Pretty girl, beware of his heart of gold
This heart is cold

He loves only gold
Only gold
He loves gold
He loves only gold
Only gold
He loves gold

(This parody was too golden an opportunity, so I took it. Also, if you sang this when you read it good for you! VOTE GOLD!)

Took me a while to figure out which thread you were referring to, and then I had to dig down through the comments to find an explanation. In compliance with some law somewhere, TLG updated their TOS on the Ideas site, and now the minimum age is 16. Those who are younger, but were previously able to participate under the old TOS, are basically being kicked off until they turn 16. At that point, provided no further changes are made, they should regain access.

I'm assuming this is an EU thing, as the US has COPPA, which sets the age limit at 13. Any younger and you can't collect personal information, but there's currently a bill before Congress attempting to raise the age to 16.
