First images of new Speed Champions sets!
Posted by CapnRex101,
Low resolution images of two upcoming Speed Champions sets have been published by retailer Fnac. 76934 Ferrari F40 and 76935 NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 are expected to be released in August and both revisit past Speed Champions cars from its six-wide era.
75890 Ferrari F40 Competizione and 75891 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Race Car were released in 2019 and it is interesting to see how their designs have changed for the modern eight-wide format, although the Chevrolet depicts a new generation of the ZL1.
View both sets after the break...
76934 Ferrari F40
- 318 pieces
76935 NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
- 328 pieces
We will publish better images and pricing information once they are available.
What do you think of these Speed Champions sets? Let us know in the comments.

The F40 is a must have for owners of the Countach.
No more red Ferrari. They come in different colors in the market don't they?
Can't wait until 500 pieces per car are the standard.... not.
That F40, and I’m trying to be nice, doesn’t look good. The head lights are unfinished, the side Windows are way too small…
I had high hopes for it in 8 wide, and this is just not it.
I have 6 wide F 40 and somewhow it looks better than new one.
Back spoiler doest look like F40 at all. General look of the car doesnt look like F40 like either because top part is too low, and car looks longer than it should be. There is proportions problem. At least from the photos.
That F40 leaves a lot to be desired IMO
Oh well, there's always next year...
The Camaro looks looks butt ugly, but it appears to be accurate at the same time so IDK. And I thought GM stopped making the Camaro anyway?
How long have they been using spoon mirrors?
Sadly the 6 stud wide F40 looks better than this one in my opinion. The front is too long and the extension on the sides at the back look strange.

They do come in other colors, but red is by far the most iconic color. During the period when the F40 was made something like 85 percent of Ferraris that left the factory were red. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari
EDIT: Apparently pound signs in URLs don't work on here, so I couldn't link the specific section, but there's a whole section on color under Brand Identity
Maybe it's having grown up in America as the son of a NASCAR fan, but I love the NASCAR set! I'm not sure whether the paint scheme is authentic to any specific car (and the lack of gratuitous real-world sponsors certainly isn't), but the bright, bold colors definitely have the right feel for American motor racing.
Damn! These are cool.
Ugh oh! More bad news for the wallet...
As an AFOL, I can happily say that I'm one of the very few who can buy a new Ferrari every year.
I own 75891, and that one was great, but this new one is still certainly a step up!
A 4-colour colour scheme is a brave move for the Camaro ZL1 at this scale and, for me, I think they have done a great job.
A Ferrari other than red would have been a nice change - it's been a decade since Lego made a Ferrari that wasn't predominantly red.
F40 and circuit model ZL1 again? I really don't see much benefit to pay 3x the price as for the 6 stud versions, especially with such an ugly color and design for the Camaro. They could have at least made the Ferrari yellow or a different color too. Sick and tired of red Ferrari's. You can count on one hand how many were not red in LEGO's history and most were polybags.
Is it just me or does it feel we've had non-stop announcements for months now? These, like so many other things lately, look fantastic--love the paint scheme on the Camaro.
The Camaro looks beautiful in those colours
as an owner of every single 8-stud wide Speed Champions car, I am disappointed on how basic these look and for $27!??!
Pretty sure I don't need another Ferrari, especially in red. I'm still loving @76895 and that's enough. That's probably why I'm liking the Camaro – something new and in a totally unique color way.
LOB
I'll look for both of these eventually. But not terribly impressed especially with the F40. The 6-wide looks much more like the F40 than this 8-wide does IMHO. The Camaro is not bad but I would have preferred another muscle car (Hello? Trans Am anyone?) or a classic 1960s euro.
That F40 is beautiful. That's one I'll pick up for myself as well as my daughter (who has become a very avid Speed Champions collector).
Love that Nascar one. Was hesitant about the colors when the rumors dropped, but I love the assembly of that whole front part.
Clearly I'm the only user here who doesn't give a $÷!+ about Speed Champions

Red is the characteristic color of Ferraris. As well as for Alfa Romeo and Maserati. The reason is that in the first car races the color of the cars represented the country of origin. For Italy it was red
I'm irrationally annoyed by exposed studs on the underside of the car (looking at you Camaro).
Anyone else?
Likely gonna get that F40, though I'm not quite sold on the looks. It seems a bit too wide and low, while the iconic rear wing looks rather crude. And I can only hope the printed roof looks anything as good as on these pictures, hope they learned from the 512 M.
As for the NASCAR, not that familiar with the source material, but the proportions look weird. At first glance it looks more like a 6-wide era SC car. The greenhouse looks way too big, too much glass around. And this one will obviously be plastered with stickers....

I'm a guy.
I just use Windra as my PFP because she's my favorite Chima character (and maybe to do a little gender-assumption trolling)
Am I the only one who thinks both are incredibly cool and the best of each model lego makes?

The previous poster you are referring to appears to be referencing Star Wars, as in Leia is Luke's sister. It has nothing to do with you or your gender.
I am totally confused now. To avoid further confusion and to avoid any doubt, I couldn't give a monkey's t*ss about any objects related to the infernal combustion engine.
Infernal regions of the earth - maybe
The front is too long. The back is somehow not right, proportionally. Can't tell exactly where, if rear wheels are too far back or behind rear wheels is too big. Fin is...just no. Hood vents too close together.
Rare miss for the SC team. Somehow I prefer my 6-wide, and this car is WIDE.
Wonder if it might be fun to try to make an NSX out of it.
The old Camaro is much better, in my opinion. For the most part it looks like they just made it two studs wider, gave it an ugly AF paintjob, added a clear spoiler (which looks weird to me) and the bonnet is... awful. It barely looks more car-like than a Cybertruck.
It is a very interesting colour scheme for the Camaro. I do feel the front looks a bit out of proportion, a bit short perhaps?
The Ferrari looks stunning. Would go well with the other Ferraris released in recent years.

Eh, the mullet of real Ferraris isn’t really a looker, either.
Are those new printed tires?
I think these both look superb. Definitely steps up from the 6 wide versions, and early buys for me.
I can't help thinking that people in search of absolute pinpoint accuracy might be happier with die-cast or scale models rather than a building toy!
Ferrari is THE SHIT. Nascar... too small (seems a throwback to the first sets of the series)
That F40 just looks off, as if someone smashes the headlights and there are 2 big holes left.

Probably not but maybe the only one who felt the need to make a post about it rather than just ignoring the thread.
I’m curious to see how the American flag on the hood of the Camaro will be received. I assume it’s accurate to the source vehicle. But living in the southern US, I’m immediately suspicious of any driver with a desaturated American flag on their vehicle.
Aren’t politics fun!?!
I actually really like the F40, except that we have to actively imagine that the headlights are there, in that void. Not sure it entirely works.
I already have 75890 and 75891, and I'm definitely planning to get 76934, but I'm not sure about 76935, what with the price increases since 75891 was released. Side note: This article is well-timed for me, as my Lego order that included, among other things, 76919 and 76920, just arrived earlier today.

Yes, I may be disabled, but at least I have my Ferrari collection to comfort me.
76935 has an absolutely atrocious color scheme. I love it
I don't like either of them and will happily keep my 6-wide Camaro and F40, both of which to me look way better than these new ones.
The best LEGO F40 imho is the Creator Expert one anyway.
The wheels on this new Camaro look so tiny, almost like a go-cart. Cartoonishly tiny almost, especially compared to the fat wide wheels on a real NASCAR vehicle.
The proportions on the F40 are off in so many ways that the wheels, which are also too small, are the least of its problems. What an ugly rendition of a beautiful supercar.

It did. I wish we lived in a world where we could all spend so little on national defense.
I have build some Speed Champions in the past, 6 and 8 studs wide and i was greatly enjoying the building techniques but in the long run i am realy disapointed by its lack of functions!
So if the speed champions design team keeps the sets without functions i have no interest in this theme anymore. I am also not a big car person for that matter.
I have build cars just 6 studs wide which are able to open the bonnet, 2 doors, the trunk and the roof for better access. I bet its possible to translate those functions into even licensed models.
Mine look a lot like speed champions by the way. Id like to know a way to show my mocs without creating instructions for it since i have no experience in creating such and i probably never will.
Does anyone know a lego comunity based homepage where i can show my mocs without adding instructions? Or is it possible on rebrickable.com?

Flickr, Instagram, Reddit, Brickshelf, Bricksafe. Heck, some people even use Ideas as a MOC repository.
Really wish they stuck with the 6-wide series...these 8-wides would not fit well in my layout...
I don't particularly like 76935. It doesn't look accurate at all.
The splitter on the front should be raised in the middle. The hood louvers are also missing. Both of those were a key component of the 'Next Gen' NASCAR Cup Series car. Of course, neither of these are present on 42153 either.
I actually think 75891, which was only 6 studs wide, does a much better job of recreating a NASCAR Cup Series car, and that was based on the previous generation model as well.
Man, that F40 went from a must buy from rumor alone to a hard pass really fast:(. Just doesn’t pass the visual recognition test for me:/
She looks kind of derpy tbh

I watched a show where a main character was completely blind, but still owned a convertible G2 Stingray Corvette, which he kept in a parking garage, and would occasionally go fire up and just sit there with the engine running. And then he gave it to the main character to drive. Besides the likelihood that it would have simply been stolen, there’s the issue of how he dealt with the PM. Gas is easy enough to haul in with a plastic gas tank, but oil changes are a problem. Brake lines and tires would deteriorate with disuse. I can’t help but wonder, realistically, how much money she would have had to sink into that car to make it safe to drive.

Hey! Nobody needs to know that!
First, a surprising amount of comments here about the 6-wide F40 having better proportions than this 8-wide! I mean yes, the 6-wide is a brilliant design and is instantly recognizable as a F40. But if you compare it to the real car (go on, you are on the internet right now) the 6-wide is comically short and stubby with huge wheels. It's a caricature of of the real thing. The 8-wide is a much closer replica.
With that said, I too had higher hopes for an 8-wide version. There are three main flaws that I see right away.
- The printing of the side windows make them too small, on the real car their lower edge actually seem to drop lower than the front window.
- Headlights being brick-built is great, but without the smooth glass cover they look like something is simply missing there.
- Rear wing is too chunky, it's just so thin and almost fragile-looking on the real car. I really thought they could get it slimmer than this at the 8-wide scale.
It's also interesting that they went for transparent clear for the windows. I think that exaggerates the flaw of the window shapes, as well as the contrast of the missing headlight covers. I hope the rear makes up for it.
But, I am nit-picking. I will absolutely buy this at some point since I am a car-person and collect all the SpeedChampions that depict cars that I like. The F40 is one of those. One of very few Ferrari's actually.
The Camaro suffers from a pet peeve of mine - that hideous windscreen piece. None of the SpeedChampions using it looks good to me. It's just so boxy, making the roof too wide. And the top of the A-pillar get that little sharp triangle where it should just be a smooth flowing gentle curve on most cars. It bugs me to no end, as you can probably tell. Sorry for the repetitive wining about it.

After the Barad-ur incident, I'm dramatically scaling back my Lego spending. I have given them too much.
It's time for more travel and spending time with people.
I had high hopes for the F40 but something about it just looks weird.. Almost as if its too flat and long.. I would love to see a side profile view.. Also that minifig is weak.
are the nostrils on the F40 down a bit too low and large relative to the car size or is that just me? I'd like to get it nonetheless to pair it with the Countach

I don't understand why one would want to pair an F40 with a Countach.
The Countach is a car from the Seventies that has been upgraded over time, but when the F40 was launched it was more than ten years old.
The natural companion (and main rival at the time) of the F40 was the Porsche 959.
If you were a boy back in the day you may have had a poster of the F40 and/or of the 959, while your older brother next door will have had a poster of a Countach.
If you wanted a Lambo to pair with the F40 you would pick a Diablo.
Red spoons for wing mirrors!
The roof top of the F40 deserved a trans clear 1x2 tile instead of a plate IMO. Otherwise, it's a very good looking set. I will get it for sure. So iconic car.
Sorry for asking, but what is the "Barad Dur incident"? Thank you.
Completely out of proportions. Wheels are too small.

Though Moff Style was a super early morning purchaser, LEGO somehow ran out of Fell Beasts and simply canceled that portion of his order, no rhyme, no reason, no discussion.

Not quite. Two were delivered in black from the factory and less than ten in yellow. The Sultan of Brunei bought a white one, but it's not clear whether this one was white from the factory or repainted afterwards.
They bit look like some sort of car. It would be more interesting to me if they did more everyday sorts of cars that you see on the streets all the time rather sports cars and racing cars.

At Rebrickable, you can post images and commentary to your workbench, which other users can see and comment on.
I like the F40 very much. It is not perfect, but still has better proportions, than any 8 wide MOCs on rebrickable. The designers had two real options to create the front part: stickers or this brick build version. This one uses some new idea. Bravo.
Ok, I miss the brick build black "waterline" around the car. But it was impossible to do here. The rear spoiler and the side grill is strange, but we haven't seen the back yet.
The Camaro is a good 8 wide counterpart of the 6 wide model. It is hard to do more realistic at this scale. The same situation, like with the Dark Horse, and many loves that Mustang. The color scheme is good too
I instantly recognised the F40 from the image on the homepage, so that's a good thing I guess.
The problem with the quest for more detail is that Lego are painting themselves into a corner somewhat. The more detail they strive for, the more detailed the set needs to be for wrong details to not stick out too much.
Older Lego sets are more of a representation of something, newer sets try to be that something, which is easy to fail at. Nonetheless, I quite like most of the Speed Champion sets and I'm usually not bothered with out of whack details.
I do sort of dislike the Camaro though. A bit of a clown car with all the colours and the way too tall windshield. I don't know anything about Nascar, so had to look up a picture.

In the late 80s, I did have 2 huge posters in my room: Countach and F40. The two ultimate cars of the time, at least to look at. For all of its tech, the 959 looked like just a gloriefied 911....
And while the Countach is indeed a 70s car and a pretty outlandish one at that time (and still, half a century later...), I'd say it only became truly iconic with the later versions during the 80s. Together with the Testarossa probably the ultimate poster cars of the 80s.

@AustinPowers , true, but luckily with the Diablo they pulverized the F40. I mean, 325km/h versus 324km/h, that makes all the difference!

I knew he had a couple in black - they were both in RHD as a special order from the factory and one of these was for sale in the UK a few years ago. UK DJ Chris Evans also had one in white (with a blue interior) as part of his 'white collection' which I think consisted of 7 Ferraris but all since sold.

The F40 only came in red. Fun fact, the paint on it was originally so thin, you could see the carbon fiber weave through it. This was done for weight savings. The F40 was also the last car Enzo ever approved, and so it was appropriate to make it red. To quote "if you ask a little boy to draw a car, he will make it red" - Enzo Ferrari.

And the F40 looks like a shipping crate is giving birth to a Ferrari. Or consuming one.
Wow, I wish shipping crates over here looked anything that good.....most are just boring square wooden boxes...

I'm remind of the WWII joke that the B-24 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consolidated_B-24_Liberator) was the box the B-17 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_B-17_Flying_Fortress) came in.
Sorry but thats not a F40. Looks like a F40 knock of made in China

I mean, it’s still a Ferrari-branded shipping crate that you’d have to take out two mortgages to afford, but if you cover the front half, it’s just a squared off box with a spoiler.
That's functional design....which I consider a pretty big improvement over the rather garish Testarossa.
And besides...were talking the 80s. Most cars where a squared off box, and you didn't even have to cover the nose. Only most cars didn't have such a grab handle on the back.
(except for the Mercedes 190 Evo 2 of course...)
I'm good with my 6 stud F40. Don't need a larger one.

"No more red Ferrari. They come in different colors in the market don't they?"
Of the 1315 produced, almost all of them are red (one is white, two are black, less than 10 are yellow). And there is a gunmetal grey one too that was owned by the Sultan of Brunei

"I have 6 wide F 40 and somewhow it looks better than new one.
Back spoiler doest look like F40 at all. General look of the car doesnt look like F40 like either because top part is too low, and car looks longer than it should be. There is proportions problem. At least from the photos. "
In real life the F40 has a lot more curves than people think. The rear wing is slightly curved. I agree it doesn’t translate well here and could have been done better with straight angles and thinner builds than now. Should be easy enough to fix though. The rest looks quite good imo

It’s a very easy fix, sure. Use a chain hoist to lift the air freshener, and roll a different Ferrari underneath.

It’s only bad news because LEGO has increased the prices of these individual cars by a significant percentage…..

That's because they shifted from six to eight stud wide. They are still really good value though, in my opinion.
Not just because of that ... the 6w SC cars were $15 from 2015 through 2019 and then the 8w SC cars started at $20 in 2020. They bumped them to $25 in 2023 and $27 in 2024. Yikes!
Think I skip both
There are better MOCs of the F40, Chevy is too colorful for me
I already had my doubts on the current new Speed Champions sets
76923 Lamborghini is a horrible ugly car
76924 Mercedes set might be worth buying, although I don't like the G-model
76925 is yet another Aston Martin set
Seems the Lego designers of Speed Champions lack a bit of inspirement
Why not a few classic oldtimers, or some new models in retro look
Would love to see a new R5 Electric, or the Alpine 290 version of that which is announced

Talking about yikes, here they have bumped them up to 370 SEK (which at current exchange rate is 35 USD or 32 EUR). That is just ridiculous. Yes, that's including tax, and we can get them cheaper from other retailers. But the fact that that is the actual RRP is just crazy. I would never buy them directly from LEGO at that price.

I'm not disagreeing on that point - Just emphasizing that IN ADDITION to increasing the size to 8 studs and the price by 33% they went and increased the price AGAIN by 25 % !!!! So, they are no longer a great value , but just OK.

Well the value in NZ is great, and same with the two packs.
And I just checked, $27USD is $44NZD, and here the sets cost $35, so it seems NZ is getting a great deal!
Ferrari yes, Camaro no.
