The 59th LEGO Ideas set, the highly anticipated 21351 Disney Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, is now available at LEGO.com.

I predict it'll sell like hot cakes and is likely to go on back order soon after release, particularly in the USA where Halloween is such a large part of the culture, so if you want to receive it before the end of October, do not delay placing your order!

If you've not done so already, check out our review, a comparison of the minifigs, and interview with fan designer Simon Scott.

Did this accidentally get posted early? It’s not showing for sale on Lego.com for me.

European time zone. It will be up later tonight for us in the USA.

Well it's on my wishlist of "Great Halloween sets based on films I'm never likely to watch", but Hocus Pocus is at the top for now!

If I was a betting man, I'd bet on the website going down at launch. But why bet on something that happens EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. a major set or wave launches? You'd think Lego would fix that someday...

I think those all are only on Harry Potter sets.

Yes. Only HP sets get those

Quickly in the US (sold out in a week?), probably not in Europe or elsewhere. It isn't SW or a big franchise, there is no GWP.

I'd go so far as to guess that this will be a shelf-warmer over here, and in the end see discounts like the Black Panther bust, BTS Dynamite, or Football Table set.

A Nightmare before Christmas!

By in United Kingdom,

Ordered mine just after midnight. My daughter absolutely loves the film so had to buy her one as a Christmas present. Needless to say I will have to follow up with a display case when they're available to keep it safe.
Och well..... there's nae pockets in a shroud .........

It might be that they take popularity into account and send most stock to the US where it is a much more popular movie. It is a nicely done set, but I doubt it is popular enough to sell in volume (here) at the price point they have set, especially as the minifigures have already been done in the cheap CMF series.

Minifigures...
Lego website says 6, I count 7 and a dog...
Am I wrong?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lack of GWPs kept me from preordering. May mean I have to wait but $200 is steep

The mayor is technically not considered a minifigure because he has no minifigure parts, but he is equivalent to one, of course.

Is this a Halloween or Christmas set?

Both!

By in United States,

I'm a little less bullish on the set's popularity just given the price.

I had to stay up to midnight last night to purchase this for my wife..

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm a Halloween fan but was never into Nightmare Before Christmas so without a sizeable discount this is a no buy for me. It is an interesting set but the Disney tax is cost prohibitive. I don’t care about the minifigs, I just like some of the spooky buildings. On the other hand the Hocus Pocus Sanderson House was almost worth the price of paying the Disney tax and was a fun build.

I often am an apologist for Lego's pricing on certain things, but I straight up do not see $200 of value here. I think this would be a perfect $150 set.

My thoughts exactly. I was the same with King Magnifico's Castle. Finally bought it for the parts at $30. No way that was a $100 set.

Anyone can correct me if I am wrong but I do not think I have EVER seen an Ideas set coming with a GWP.

By definition, an 'Ideas' set has been voted for (10000 times!) it is not supposed to need and enticement for people to buy it right away - at least that is my understanding...

Good point. Just $200 is a lot to ask IMO

Maybe not a GWP specifically related to an Ideas set, but plenty where GWPs were available with an Ideas set as part of the threshold (e.g. I got the Retro Food Truck using the Day 1 Polaroid Camera as part of the threshold).
Currently the only GWPs available are Harry Potter linked.

By in United States,

The set is well done. I can't justify the cost for what you get though. And I don't love having repeated figures even though they are slightly different and a time gap between releases. AND I'd really like the Mayor to be smaller and minifigure like. They could have still had a molded head.

But maybe if I ever find a sale, I may consider picking it up. I liked the movie as a kid of course. As an adult, I'm indifferent anymore. The style of filming is very interesting and I appreciate the efforts that went into it.

I don't love the tacked on "love story" between Sally and Jack when they have zero romantic interactions other than Sally longing for him. But whatever.

Happy to have this finally available. Cashed in some VIP points to knock the price down a little.
