Mixels building competition: one week to go
Posted by Huw,
Our Mixels building competition with The LEGO Movie prizes ends at midnight (GMT+1) on Sunday 6th July so if you haven't entered yet, you have a week left to do so.
The judges this time will be DrDaveWatford (GimmeLEGO), SirKevbags (FairyBricks), Caperberry (Tim, New Elementary), LostInTranslation (Lucy), Rocao (Roland) and myself.
I estimate there are around 250 entries in the flickr pool and the standard looks to be very high. Not only are the models excellent, but the photography is too, so the judges will have a tough job picking the winners.
The prizes are:
- First prize: 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!
- Second prize: 70815: Super Secret Police Dropship
- Third prize: 70814 Emmet's Construct-o-Mech
Good luck!

really really don't envy the judges, every time I look at the entries I think it's going to be even harder for the judges!
Yes... I am not looking forward to it!
Same here... I don't envy the judges. But seriously - we've smashed through the amount of entries you got last time (250 and growing) as opposed to 190), yet only 3 prize bands as opposed to 5 last time? And couple that with greater entry standard, that is just making the task on hand even more difficult for the judges.
I think your greater amount of entries is resultant from the fact that a. people were more prepared this time round and b. these Mixels were out, like, 4 weeks before general release where I was. My first 3 entries were built something like 2 weeks before the competition even started! :-)
Maybe I'm starting to regret only entering 6 this time as opposed to 20, but I have a good feeling about them ;-)
I didn't enter, but I think I'll look through the flickr pool later. I love looking at the creative things people have done with these.
Sitting at the dining room table with 9yo, 8yo, and 3yo daughters building Mixels.
Deadlines spur action!
I've got a question in regards to the contest. I'm wanting to build a small scene for my Max Mixel, it'll be just a few parts, like maybe a brick built rock and some seaweed. It won't actually be a part of the Mixel, but will certainly make for a prettier picture. Would this disqualify me? The parts for the foliage wouldn't be from a Mixel set.
