Eh. I don't have the Insiders points or lack of sense to get Barracuda Seas, and though the GWPs are nice, I'll stick around for ones I find slightly more desirable. The Double Insiders is nice too, but not enough to push me into a purchase prematurely.

By in Netherlands,

And so the craziness begins. Here in Holland Black Friday began 2 weeks ago. According to a Dutch retail expert ‘in the end the consumer pays for the discounts’. How big are Lego’s margins? Somebody knows?

By in United Kingdom,

Not exciting at all really. Only if there are decent discounts on the sets will anything be bought, otherwise I will be waiting for next week and Black Friday when I can buy the Endurance at RRP.

By in Norway,

Still no news on what sets and how much discount? How long before it go live down under, I guess we must wait for that to know..

By in United States,

None of these GWP’s interests me. They look like sets filled with lots of small pieces to make an attractive piece count. However that just means lots of what I call “micro-builds” which are not amenable to these AFOL hands. I will probably skip Insiders weekend in hope of a decent discount on a set I want on Black Friday. The 25% off on Lion Knight’s Castle made me buy one last year. Hoping for another great deal this year!

By in United Kingdom,

Any indication yet on when the 5008897 smiley space people noughts and crosses might materialise?

By in United Kingdom,

I won't make the same mistake as last year, finding Aus had discounts I wanted then disappointment when they didn't happen in the UK.

By in United States,

Do we know when the space man’s tic-tac-toe will be available?

Gotta make this year’s purchase count.

I'm planning to knock out Christmas shopping on lego.com tomorrow - and take advantage of the double Insiders points and free 40700 while I'm at it!

Lego 2023 profit was about $1.8 Billion on revenue of $9.2 Billion.

Very roughly, you could look at that as about 20% profit on the price.

Now, I'm going to cry myself to sleep over the severe travails of that po' lil' family business.

Put another coat of paint on the damn minifigures, Kristiansen!!

Toy stores give 20-25% discount on themes

The GWP are not worth it at such high thresholds to get them. I miss the days when thresholds were not over £200. Its beyond ridiculous

By in United States,

There's a rumor that 75313 UCS AT-AT will be on sale in the U.S. I know it's double points, but I'll likely cash in my points for a discount on that and still get the promos.

Gravatar
By in United States,

There’s a rumor that these GWP are going to reduce sales.

I agree, I could do with buying *something* so my points don't expire, but the GsWP don't inspire me to go spend. The train is ok, but I have the previous one and I'm not really a train person, so if anything my target is the free postage threshold...

What? Like people are going to wait to buy so that they don't get the free gift?

Gravatar
By in United States,

So is 5009045 not going to be available? The article that announced it and Barracuda seas said "6550800 Barracuda Seas and 5009045 Chronometer will be available from Black Friday." What changed?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I would rather buy the set I want discounted than pay full price just to get these things.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I got my double VIP points orders in a few weeks ago. Black Friday just ain't what it used to be...

5009045 Chronometer should be released on Black Friday, so next week.

The US site and marketing emails show a holiday bauble that will be available in the rewards center for “just 1800 points.” Isn’t this the same bauble that was a GWP in 2023 5008196 ?

Never underestimate spite and disdain as sales restrictors. lol

Why do they keep the list of discounted sets such a secret in the days leading up to the sale? I would think that informing us about the discounts would further elevate the FOMO and increase sales. Oh well, just a few more hours I suppose.

Because they are hoping to sell the sets at the higher prices to unsuspecting individuals who don't wait or don't know they should wait to see what the deals will be. How many times have people posted on here and other places that they just bought some expensive set the day before 2x points and/or a desirable GWP are offered? The GWP's aren't great this year but if I'm paying full price or a set I want extras in the form of "free brick" & double points.

Looks like the same one to me. I'm not spending my points on a tin ball.

Lego only ever gives discounts for poor selling sets or extremely old sets before they retire and act like its some kind of event.

TBH, Lego CS will often grant the 2xVIP or GWP if you ordered the day before. Obviously you have to know that, but I got it on something recently with no hassle whatsoever. Just chatted with the CS guy and he said he'd apply it, and then he did and a bit of a bonus on top.

I'm usually well aware of upcoming GWP's & 2x point events so I tend to hold off my purchases until I can get those. The actual discounts on sets is another whole different thing that's very frustrating as they always seem to lower prices days after I buy something to meet a GWP threshold.

But if they place another coat of paint, then there profits might drop to 19.5%, and we can't have that... :P

I get it, any business needs profit to afford to take on new innovations. But I don't understand how having 19% vs 20% profit would make a difference to them in the long run, even though it would make a HUGE difference to the consumer.
