Happy new year! (I can't think of a Lego pun like brickmas)

I'm most looking forward to 75404, 10355, and 75402.

By in Germany,

All the best for 2025 and a happy New Year to everyone. May it be a fortunate one.

Currently I have no plans to get any of the new sets, but once it becomes available at a discount I might end up getting Tudor Corner - the first Modular in years that I actually like.

By in New Zealand,

I'm also looking forward to 71048-0, only for 71048-2, but it doesn't release here till February.

By in Australia,

Thankfully not much around worth a day 1 purchase except the modular, mainly because I wanted the news stand. Blacktron and Creator Dragon is still tempting me though.

Spent some points on tic tac toe to add to my order today but it keeps saying code not valid...any ideas why this would be a problem?

I love how this site's fanbase is so indifferent towards the Mario theme that you guys didn't even bother to mention the entire new subtheme getting launched tonight :-(

Well, considering that the Mario theme always just seems to be more of the same, plus it's mainly aimed at kids while the average Brickset user appears to be the typical grumpy old white AFOL, what did you expect?

Happy new year to all out there!

I made an order consisting of the Blacktron Renegade and the Star Wars anniversary set with R2-KT in it from last year because I haven’t seen it anywhere in retail. Think I’m going to set aside some money for when the F1 Speed Champions release, but pick up a couple of other new 2025 SW sets along the way.

Note some of the specific set detail pages and category views aren’t working correctly on UK LEGO.com at least. Hopefully that’ll smooth out.

I always check the Lego aisles in local department stores after Christmas.

What I've found, the last few years, is that the Lego aisles have been picked clean. No City, no Friends, no Creator or Ninjago, everything is gone ...

... except for a pile of Mario sets that just don't sell. This has been every Christmas, the last few years.

Make of that what you will.

If Lego put real minifigures in the sets, they would sell a lot better I'm sure.

Couldn't resist the excellent 10350 Tudor Corner with the couple of freebies.

The other CNY sets can wait until 40707 gets offered. Great decorative sets, but a bit of a shame that there isn't a major CNY building this year... They've presumably run out of ideas.

I think the zoetrope inside the Trotting Lantern is pretty creative!

Gravatar

I’m still debating if I even care about the kiosk freebie. I should probably focus on older sets I need than brand new ones.

Agreed... an excellent display set, which I will be getting. Just not a real life location like 80105, 80107, 80109 and 80111 were.

By in Sweden,

I didn't know they had changed their ways to redeem points. I was looking for my yearly vouchers as always, for the modular. I thought it might have been a Swedish thing when I couldn't find them (I just moved to Sweden), but then there was a super convenient option to use points at checkout. I didn't verify if the trading ratio was the same as before (change of currencies is also keeping me confused), but it looked like it was of the order of what I could have gotten previously in Euro or CAD.

So Tudorhus is on its way with the marvelous little corner stand!

Happy pew-pew year? I'm just going to leave this right here:

@domoka:
I had that problem when trying to make a Black Friday purchase, but then the site crashed. When it eventually came fully back up, the Reward item was showing in my cart. Worst case scenario, call customer service _immediately_ after they open, and see if they can tack it onto your order (assuming it isn't already there).

The Sweetheart Tweety Bird? Yeah, I can't believe this is the first time I've even heard of that. But what does it have to do with Mario?

Got it, but I'm currently one penny short of qualifying for the knots GWP. $149.99 works, $149.98 does not.

By in United States,

Finally got the arc 170, ashokas fighter, and the blacktron set. It was like musical chairs, first ashokas popped up and the other 2 went away (was that brick with a question mark set not found icon). Then ashokas went away and blacktron popped up. Got both those in my cart and was waiting on the arc to come back. After about 10 minutes it did, but the blacktron one went away and out of my cart. Finally after about 20 minutes all 3 stayed and I could place an order.

My one wish for 2025 is lego upgrade their servers lol we surely give them enough money

What, you think the site can't handle getting swarmed by people in six time zones spread across the third most populous nation in the world?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just keep refreshing, as has already been suggested. I managed to work out an efficient way to get the 3-in-1 Toucan and checked out with all 3 GWP plus the Tudor Corner (and the littler sets) within half an hour. Not bad on a day with so many new releases and excellent offers!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Had to use an alternate credit card as stupid Visa wasn't sending me the verification code they make me enter every time I try to make a purchase from LEGO.com. Tudor Corner & associated GWP's are headed my way. Used the gift card I got for Christmas to lessen the purchase price.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Glad I rolled the dice that the sets would still be available later than 12am. I got on at 2am, and got the Tudor corner Mod and the GWPs as well. Used some VIP insider points to bring the price down a bit as well.

I have the same issue here...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I pushed the button on Tudor Corner shortly after midnight, however this will be a sad year for me, since I've decided to step back from Lego. Too little storage space and rising costs have forced me into this decision. So, from 2025 onwards, I'll only collect the main annual Modular and any Icons trains, as and when they're released.

I'll still be a regular visitor to Brickset though, and doubt I'll never stop loving those tiny plastic bricks!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What's the issue with the 'OUT OF STOCK' items which were only due for release at midnight??

The Tom and Jerry BH and the Lucky Cat were both shown as 'out of stock' at 0005 hours here. Did they really both all sell out in 5 minutes?

Wholly understand @Blackmagic and I recognise those twin issues of space and cost, but also the underlying love for wee coloured plastic bricks. I hope you enjoy Tudor Corner when it arrives, I also ordered it just after midnight. This sounds like a really focussed strategy and one I can see me moving to in coming years. The volume of sets and the range of more targeted (and expensive) adult sets feels like it is becoming a mix of overwhelming and exhausting - even before costs are factored in. My hat off, and my thanks to Huw, Capn Rex and the wider Brickset community who help us to navigate through the various sets and themes.

Happy New Year (and new Bricks) to all.

By in Australia,

So it’s been 24 hours here since the new sets were released. Strange to see the Sonic sets sold out first. Chinese Toilet Seat battle pack GWP is gone and Blacktron doesn’t seem as popular as I thought. And $60 for Tweety is absolute daylight robbery.

I like to visit the LEGO aisles post Christmas as I have been able to find sets what were sold out a while ago, but turn up again as store returns and make it back onto the shelves.

By in United Kingdom,

I didn't do anything special for New Years (I didn't even have my relatives round this year), so, shortly after midnight and the end of the Sophie Ellis-Bextor thing on BBC1, I purchased Tudor Court, so I could at least guarantee the GWP.

Generally, I like purchasing sets at the Lego Store, but pretty much all the other big shops are closed this year *but* the Lego stores, and with the weather as it is, didn't feel worth justifying the price of a rail ticket.

Nah. Then I never would have gotten any B1 sets as a kid, because they would have been choking hazards. What I meant was that 6954 was top of my Christmas wish list that year, and I ended up getting 6941 instead. I also got 6894, which helped make up for it, a little bit.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

On the 'one hand'; I sooooooo want to order 10355 Blacktron Renegade, but I'm 'snake bit': back when I ordered my G.E. 2.0s (as I got two), Lego played 'sneaky weasel' and snuck the 40580: Blacktron Cruiser as a GWP out the next year...with no options to get it direct or by points, or...yeah:|

I want some knowledge: is TLG going to release a SPACE GWP this year, because "fool me once..."

If it’s anything like the original, and it appears to be a fantastic homage, it will have been worth the wait!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ForestMenOfEndor:
I've got a copy in hand to build, but at 1151pcs I don't think I'll be able to finish it before it's time to turn out the lights. Not counting advent calendars, there's only one set that I've ever had to leave partially-built before going to bed, and that's 10179. So, I've got the next two nights, or maybe I'll take it in to the Henry Ford Museum this weekend and build it while sitting with our display. But it really is going to be hard to wait that long.

Regarding the new version vs the original, I mostly prefer the modernized Invader to the one I had as a kid. I really like the concept of the Renegade, and still think it has a pretty cool look to it, but the actual construction of the model is so simplistic by modern standards. Too much of it is big, chunky parts that are devoid of interesting detail, where this has triple the piece count packed into a model that's maybe 50% larger.

Anyways, until then, I'm just going to leave this...right...here:

I called the LEGO support this morning, they have an issue with the change of the year and the Tic Tac Toe code. So they added manually the game to my order.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I had the problem with my Tic-Tac-Toe code being rejected as well yesterday, but today (2nd Jan) it just worked and I was able to order. Someone must have fixed the bug. I've gone for the Blacktron Renegade and the two remaining potted plants to complete my Four Noble Ones. Looks like the rather uninspiring Chinese Knots has been added to my order. I also added the new bunny. It's cute. And I'm a big Watership Down fan. I just need to find a way of attaching part 6353396 to make it look that little bit tougher. ;-)

Not seeing 40757 Corner Kiosk when I put 10350 Tudor Corner in my cart (US store). Must be sold out already...so I won't be getting 10350 and I'll wait. (I already got burned by the D&D castle when I got it without the GWP and then they offered it AGAIN later after I went and got it anyway.) 10350 Tudor Corner will be available for years, so I can wait a few months to see if the GWP comes back.

I'll go check a store 45 minutes away tomorrow as well and maybe they will still have the GWP in stock.
