Been awhile since I thought about this guy. Not even sure why I ever wound up with 4858 since I was well outside the age demographic, but for a time, it was the only Spider-Man minifig I had. I love the Doc Ock that came with it, that thing is wild.

Peter Stone? Or Jack Parker? Probably not the last one because that was the name of Hidden Side's main characters

Spider-Man? More like spider-get-those-noodle-arms-and-goofily-tall-legs-out-of-my-face-this instant-man.

Looks like Parker got pumped up with venom, and I'm not talkin' about the Marvel kind.

If I remember correctly, these were among the very last Juniors Figs and the only ones to have rotating hands.

I have a distinct memory of a childhood friend having either these or the Mega Bloks equivalent that came out for the next movie, it was some apartment / bank building with large panel pieces that had a brick facade design (which definitely looked like Mega Bloks element). Haven't ever figure out what sets those were.

That Doc Ock figure has been RMotD before: https://brickset.com/article/100439/random-minifig-of-the-day-4j005 @DavidSkyroller linked to a picture that made me want the figure, or at least his arms.

The minifig Spider-Man was "one of our best." This guy, on the other hand, is one of their worst.

Looks like Spidey put on some weight over the holidays. :)
Don't know why all the hate for the Jack Stone figures. I still prefer them over the horribly proportioned mini-dolls.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Oh this actually isnt a jack stone fig, huh. The arms and legs (and head obviously) are quite different

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Interesting. Very interesting.

This along with the counterpart Doc Ock are as good as the 4Juniors figs get.

Yes, I'm serious. I'm not saying they are as customizable as minifigs or fit the scale. I'm not saying these look as charming as minifigs. Or as familiar. I'm not talking about minifigs.

But compared to other figs of the same design these two are the best. It helps that spidey doesn't have a complicated face to depict, and the colors and pattern go a long way to help it look like the source material. Doc Ock too, whose face is offset by the excellent arms that wouldn't have worked at minifig scale.

Basically, everything you might not like about this is inherent in the limitations of the 4Plus fig design itself, not anything this fig is doing. If anything the figs from this year improved on the previous ones by introducing rotating hands and wider arms that don't hang flush with the torso anymore.

I'm glad this style of fig hadn't stuck around, but credit where it's due.

This 4 Juniors look like Jack Stone. What is the difference?

This a reference to the "How do you do, fellow kids" meme, uncluding Steve Buscemi.

What happens when a Spider-Man minifigure and a Spider-Man action figure love each other very much.

The closest we have to a Spooder-Man minifigure

A man gets a call from his doctor.
"Your test results are back, and it's not good. You don't have long to live."
"How long do I have?"
"Five..."
"Five what? Months?"
"Four... Thee..."

Was it, though? Or did they just threaten to tell his girlfriend that he ran off to join the circus if he didn't get to the bar in the next five minutes?

I DID buy one of these off Bricklink a couple years ago, and I think he looks great!
Obviously not a minifig, but very cool in his own Spidey way!
