AT-AT Driver Helmet revealed!
Posted by CapnRex101,
LEGO launched the Helmet Collection in 2020 and the range continued until 2023, but I assumed it was done when no new additions were released in 2024.
However, that has proven incorrect with the announcement of 75429 AT-AT Driver Helmet! This set will be released on the 1st of March and is now available to pre-order on LEGO.com in some regions, costing £69.99, $69.99 or €79.99.
You can view more images after the break...
What do you think of this model and are you glad the Helmet Collection is continuing? Let us know in the comments.

I'm not a massive fan of the Helmet Collection, but I must say this is probably the best one yet. The mouth is a little too high up though.
Truly a random pick, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It came out exceptionally well, it will go nicely next to my scout trooper.
This one in particular looks great!
That looks like a new 4x4 slope
Really feels they got the shape right with this. Must admit I have 75304 and I just didn't enjoy the build or end result, compared to Boba Fett 75277 anyway. May pick this one up.
It looks good for what it is, but value-wise these are just among the worst. I'd hesitate to buy it even at 50% off the retail price.
Why hasn't this line died already
I'm a fan of the SW helmet collection and the AT-AT is my favourite in verse vehicle, this this was already a no brainer.
It also looks awesome, so there's that.

Presumably because people are buying them?

I love this line, I own every one. Think they make great display pieces, long may it continue
I always had an affinity for the AT-AT drivers' uniform - so little screen time that one of the glamor shots on the box is the back of the driver's head!
But I always felt like AT-AT drivers were kinda special - I mean, it's gotta take some skill to pilot a building-sized walking tank, right? Forget forklift-certified, these guys have the real skills!
The model looks good, too. Overall I've thought this line has been cute, but overpriced. I'm sure they all look really nice on a shelf together, though.
They've really nailed the shaping around the eyes for this one! I'm going to have to pick it up I think.
I can't find the pre order? Says not available until the release date.
This looks amazing. And that's coming from someone who really didn't care about any of the previous helmets. This one doesn't look disproportional and doesn't have so many ugly studs visible. The stickers are a letdown though, might be a dealbreaker for me. This is a premium collectible, I would expect printed pieces.
This will go nicely with my 75274
When even the comparison picture on the box shows you how inaccurate to the actual thing it is.... Never been a fan of the helmet collection, and this set it yet another example of how badly they've been done.
Honestly reminds me more of the minifig version of the helmet than the movie version.
Does this mean we can get droids now too since the line was presumed dead and now has been revived? This looks like the best one yet!
Not bad, however the vertical gap line down the middle of the mouth opening makes it not accurate to the original movie material. Not getting this.
Am waiting for Jango Fett's and hopefully Bo Katan's.

But droids are not helmets, they are just heads. The only weird exception to it is 75343, so maybe there’s a chance?
Lock and drive.

Will those ones be 80 dollars as well? I think this one was 70 in the leaks
I like the helmets, but they are overpriced. A collection of displays is impressive, but now I have too many, and you can’t really play with them. The overall look is cool, but there are many small inaccuracies with each one. The prints are nice, but the stickers will indubitably be poorly color-matched.
I will get this at the inevitable 30% discount.
Never loved the "helmet" series in general, but this one is so well done. I might actually pick it up.
I really enjoy the new starship collection. I’m disappointed about the lack of dioramas this year, though, especially because I would have adored a chance at getting one or two from Revenge of the Sith. Instead, we have gotten a return of the helmets! Alas.

inevitable? I've never seen these on any type of quality sale that would make the MSRP worthwhile. I would have picked up more, but couldn't justify any at full price.
I like it - if I do get this to go with my 75313 it'll be my first foray into the helmet collection.
I like this, although to my eyes the AT-AT driver's helmet is white
It would be good to have a tag for all of the heads/helmets/masks imo. While the SW Helmet collection was dormant, there were many other similar items: super heroes, Sonic, HP Sorting hat maybe, etc. I think the format is good and will continue for a while if not necessarily for just the SW helmets.
I have four of the helmets so far (Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Stormtrooper, Mando) and I quite like them - especially when they are on sale, which they often seem to be ;-)
This one looks really good imho.
The size and shape of the tube ends at the front look very odd to me.
I sometimes wish we could hide comments about pricing. Some of them just aren't realistic at all.
Is this overpriced? Yes, especially when considering that the original ones were only $60.
Is it still a bad value at 50% off? No, unless you want to be unrealistic about pricing and think these should somehow only be $20.
I get some of the annoyance over pricing comments, but I think it reflects the fact that it's somewhat absurd what these things sell for. This looks like a really neat set for those interested in it, and it's designed quite well, but it's really difficult to look at that and think $80 is anywhere near appropriate on it. $40 feels more understandable, though I would still find it difficult to personally value it at that type of worth. Well, it's just not for me.
Now the other rumored set for May. Now that's perhaps more my speed. I hope we hear about it sometime soon...
The shaping of the helmet is similar to the TIE Fighter Helmet though I doubt all these pieces would be available in Black. If LEGO could update the TIE Fighter Helmet and Stormtrooper Helmet so the after-market can no longer suffer that'd be great.
Now I want to build my TIE Fighter pilot helmet in preparation for getting this new one.
It looks 'wrong'...I mean, maybe it's the lighting; but I remember the AT-AT driver (and I REFUSE to call it A.T.A.T....IT'S SPELLED "AT-AT" PEOPLE...), as it was my favorite Star Wars figure ('til the Scout Trooper showed up); and...well, the uniform was WHITE. Helmet to boots, the main color was white (I remember thinking 'looks like an inverted TIE fighter pilot'), and this...this looks 'grey', which is wrong...:|

The colour of AT-AT driver uniforms is a long-held point of contention because the reference images used for many years turned out to be extremely over-exposed. Grey sections of their uniform thus appeared white, which was reflected on many toys until the 2010s.
Having said that, light bluish grey is probably too dark a shade for the helmet. I am sure the designer would have chosen a colour between white and light bluish grey if one existed.

Unfortunately, this is the going rate now. At a discount of 25% at $60 is the price of boba fetts helmet asking price in 2020. Piece counts are relatively the same. Last I checked cost of plastic has not gone up and TLG has had SW licensing since 1999. Gouging I say. I refuse to give in.
I’ve bought much much less since the infamous TLG price hike. I’m much more selective in what I get. Better for my wallet ;) thank you TLG. No more being a completionist.

I hear you. Otoh Amazon had the helmets discounted almost all the time, between 30 and 40% off, at which point the price became more reasonable. For the four helmets I got I paid between 40 Euro (Stormtrooper, Mando) and 45 Euro (Vader). Boba Fett was in between at 43 Euro.

Yes those are acceptable costs for my budget. I also only have 4 of them since the beginning of the collection. Amazon Netherlands is still a bit more, Vader’s helmet has been steadfast at 50 euros ant the least. And yes, getting fair prices requires patience to combat TLG’s price game.
@CapnRex101: Not arguing you point, however:

and

Looks pretty white too me, plus they mention the jumpsuit being white...why would the Imperials make the helmet a different color?
Honestly the best Helmet collection set yet! It looks amazing.

On Hoth, the AT-AT pilots wore white jumpsuits to blend in with the environment, even though that was unnecessary. Outside of Hoth, they used grey helmets.

I haven't paid more than 80% MSRP for any of the helmets, and I have all of them. The latest Clone helmets were/are on 20-30% discount for at least the last 6-8 months.
I have no interest in this line, but I agree this is an excellent example of the helmet collection, maybe the best ever. The printed 4x4 dishes, the curved parts, and the balance of tiles and studs all look great IMHO
I can see those printed 4x4 radar dishes being popular.
Not something I collect, but I agree it looks very well designed, with some interesting printed parts. Seems like it would add a bit of color to a collection of helmets, too.
Very, very happy that this subtheme is continuing! There were some notable omissions (including this one) among the original releases, so I'm hoping that more are on the way!

This reminds me of the white vs. gray debate around Star Destroyers when Rogue One came out. I like the theory that Empire ships/armor start off white and gray over time. I think it's safe to assume the Empire values quantity or quality in materials.
But is it pronounced 'at' twice or 'eighty' twice?

It's eighty eighty.
This is the best wave for Star Wars yet. All great sets ;)
My partner loves the Helmet collection and was particularly hoping for an AT-AT Driver Helmet, so they’re thrilled to bits. (And so am I, because that’s at least one birthday or christmas present sorted.)
I’ve never really liked the helmets as they all looked too studdy. But this looks great.

Just looking at plastic prices alone is a pretty small list of factors. What about the cost of labour, production, marketing, fuel, market uncertainty?
@Huw , speaking of pricing, I read on a German LEGO news site that the RRP in the US isn't 79.99 but 69.99 USD.
I just went on lego.com to verify, and it clearly says 69.99 USD. It's only more expensive in Euro (79.99) and GBP (69.99, which equates to more than the RRP in the US).
If they are rebooting the theme, I wonder if they will do any again. Vader's was good but not great and I reckon they could come up with a better design now after what they have done with the other helmets since. A bit like what they did with the buildable Darth Vader figures in 2015 and 2018.
At least it doesn't look like a Minecraft creation, like many previous helmets.
Cool....I guess. It seems like one of the more obscure ones that they've done. Hopefully the rumors about the Jango Fett and Kylo Ren Helmets are true.
Bring back the planet Xmas decoration things! Those were cool.
Super excited to this. Totally unexpected too. Fingers crossed there are more in the pipeline

The plastic comment was sarcasm.
Based on Lego's revenue of 65 BILLION each of the last 2 years, cost of labour, production, marketing, fuel, are ALL well taken care of. And with that being said, it is now plainly just price gouging and greed IMO. That has always been the original point.

The paint on these is PROPERLY grey. There's modern photos of one of two original helmets (the one from the publicity shot used on the back of the box, in fact), and Lego LBG actually looks like a pretty decent match for the colour (note especially the comparison to a white helmet near the bottom of the page):

Thanks, though as the author of that article writes, the colour always looks slightly different depending on the lighting. I was researching this a couple of days ago and people on the Replica Prop Forum, which I would consider pretty authorative, favour Pantone 428: https://www.pantone.com/uk/en/color-finder/428-XGC
Regardless, it is definitely much closer to light bluish grey than white.
Funnily enough, looking at all these photos has highlighted a detail new to me and it seems LEGO was unaware of it too, as the very back of the black band on the crest is painted red.
I will probably buy this at at a discount.
