Ideas review results imminent

Posted by ,

The results of the second 2024 review period are 'almost here', according to a post on the LEGO Ideas Facebook page. Other fan media sites are reporting that they'll be revealed tomorrow, but we don't know where they are getting that information from.

Previous results have been published in the early afternoon GMT so, in case they are correct, check back here tomorrow at around 1 or 2pm.

I've listed the 35 projects that are in the running after the break. As usual, there are some that can be discounted straight away due to similarities to recently produced products (e.g. Wednesday and the vintage radio), and a small handful that are in with a chance.

Take a look, then make your predictions in the comments.

By in United Kingdom,

I think the popcorn machine has a good chance, it seems to fit in with the ideas theme

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I can't decide between the New Holland combine or the sea otter!

Also, I'm guessing the Bluey set is out of the running.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Normally, there are a handful of sets I’m interested in. This go around there isn’t anything I’ll be sad doesn’t get produced. I’m not sure if that speaks to the sets or my changing interests.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd love the Boss Ross set or the Iron Giant!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really love 16. HUMPBACK WHALE BREACH, 18. IMPRESSION SUNRISE - MONET, and most of all 25. TETRIS SOLID.

That said, I really can't predict what will be chosen this round, the others have felt so hit-and-miss.

Gravatar
By in United States,

There's no way Bluey is happening now that LEGO officially has a theme coming.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Snoopy's all I want.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gravity Falls' Mystery Shack FTW!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hopefully the Iron Giant will get selected in this round. None of the others are of interest to me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Downton Abbey is probably the only one I’d buy but seems unlikely to be chosen.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Snoopy would be great, though I doubt this one will happen, lacking his iconic doghouse unlike previous Peanuts projects. The small size and articulation does strengthen its potential though.

None of the licensed projects seem particularly likely to pass this time, but that's juxtaposed by a few great unlicensed ones in this review which seem likely enough to be made.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, Lego jumped the gun on many of these already!
market village, camera, bluey, etc...

I'm rooting for Tintin or Avatar (with the people who wear blue, not are blue).

that being said, I'm quite confident we'll get one of the art sets here... Lego loves their art sets...

edit: many of these could also be scaled down for some nice GWP (at several price points). tennis could be scaled down to remove the building, impression sunrise was just slapping paint on canvas anyway (I actually love that painting and impressionism but couldn't resist poking fun), and Tetris could just be a box of basic blocks.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I am liking these models. I want a number of them to be actual sets!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I sort of like the the tug boat, the mallard and the Bob Ross painting, but there is too much meh in this line up. I really (really) like the Tin Tin (Kuifje) rocket as a design, but in Lego, not so much.

If the mallard makes it through, I promise I'll buy that. It might be a nice addition to the kakapo and the birds set I already got.

Oh, and Coldplay are the most overrated band in the world.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Gentlemen, you know our mission. If neither Wallace and Gromit set comes to shelves, we will have failed. Wallace and Gromit must win, one way or another.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lego: Out of Ideas.

Gravatar
By in United States,

At the end of the announcement video it has March 21 listed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the Market Village, Whale, Snoopy, and Mallard.

I also like the claw machine, but weren't we supposed to be getting a claw machine under the Ideas theme soon?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I would love to see the Mallard as a set, but I would worry that Lego's redesign would take away the blocky charm.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Tintin

Gravatar
By in United States,

Actually just changed my mind, Tetris Solid is my favorite. It would be fun to play it against your friends like a hybrid-Jenga-connect-four game, and that’s cool.

Same. Definitely skilled designers, but thankfully this is a pass, because my wallet is crying from regular sets and BLDP.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A lot of "definitely isn't happening"s this time around. Lego doesn't seem too keen on doing modulars not designed by their modular building team and would either flat out deny those or modify them to not be modular compatible. I like the unique builds like the Hydroelectric and River Rapids, but I doubt they'll be made.

Italian Riviera would be a nice compliment to 21343 but would definitely be more expensive.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Walkman

Gravatar
By in United States,

Being realistic, it’s probably going to be something like the sunrise or Walkman

But what I would pay for a Lego gravity falls mystery shack…

Gravatar
By in Japan,

Rather underwhelming round...

My clear favorite is 2) LEGO ZH1 - WORKING AND FUNCTIONAL 35MM FILM CAMERA, even when there's zero chance it will actually make usable pictures, just the fact that it can actually functions is prett amazing. That said, not that high expectations since let's be real: 31147 might not be a functional camera but for just €20 it did very well capture that nostalgia factor.

Some more that I like though maybe not quite enough to buy them:
4. WORKING IMAGE PROJECTOR "MAGIC LANTERN": almost as cool as the camera, but even more of a gimmick.
8. BOB'S OLD TUGBOAT: looks pretty great!
16. HUMPBACK WHALE BREACH: I can actually see this become a set!
20. THE IRON GIANT IN THE FOREST: Maybe.....we can hope....
23. SONY WALKMAN: Very well done. Can see this happen.
24. THE LONELINESS OF THE VOYAGER - NASA'S VOYAGER MISSION: Nice display piece.
30. WORKING RIVER RAPIDS RIDE – FAIRGROUND RAFTING COASTER: Not for me but great idea!

Some other thoughts:
1. MARKET VILLAGE: Straight to BDP
3. TINTIN - SPACE ROCKET: cool but that tower will use a lot of pieces, and I feel more could be done with Kuifje.
5. HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANT: I quite like it, but again feels more like something for BDP.
7. WEDNESDAY THE ROOM AND THE BALCONY: Existing theme, zero chance
10. CLAW MACHINE: kinda interesting, but looks like it still needs a lot of work. And now with C+ instead of PF it would probably be prohibitively expensive.
11. THE TENNIS MATCH: So much going on and most of it isn't the tennis match....
12. PIONEER CDJ 2000 NEXUS MULTI PLAYER: Kinda cool, but probably too niche.
13. BLACKSMITH - WILD WEST: BDP....
14. WALLACE & GROMIT - A GRAND DAY OUT: Pales in comparison with the one from the 90s Throwback.
15. ITALIAN RIVIERA: BDP....
18. IMPRESSION SUNRISE - MONET: Looks like a pain to build.
19. MODULAR POST OFFICE IN NEOCLASSICAL STYLE: BDP....
21. VINTAGE RADIO - LISTEN TO YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC!: We already got that.
22. SNOOPY - CAMPFIRE: I can think of more iconic scenes.
25. TETRIS SOLID: Interesting idea, but looks like it uses a lot of pieces and will be way too expensive for what it is.
27. MALLARD: I kinda like that it's all studded, makes it look rather old school. Watch Lego get rid of 99% of the studs in their redesign.....
28. FLOATING SEA OTTER: Could work but not blown away.
29. ARSENAL F.C. - THE INVINCIBLES: Considering how poorly the big stadiums sold.....
31. BLUEY!!: Too late....
32. DOWNTON ABBEY: HIGHCLERE CASTLE: A bit too niche I think?
33. BOB ROSS: THE JOY OF PAINTING: Already a much better on in review.
34. GRAVITY FALLS: THE MYSTERY SHACK: Is it weird that I've never heard of it?
35. COLDPLAY MUSIC OF THE SPHERES WORLD TOUR DIORAMA: Set looks just as sad as their music. And if Lego is gonna make sets of terrible bands, Nickelback should be first.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Come on, Gravity Falls! I get my hopes up every time a Mystery Shack submission shows up. This particular model by Minibrick Productions looks fantastic and very translatable into an official set.

I also love the Sony Walkman, which would be right at home in a Guardians of the Galaxy display.

Gravatar
By in United States,

No's are wallace and grommit. Wednesday,Bluey Lego did or doing.
old tugboat and claw machine are interesting. not sure of old tugboat but i like it
Bob ross might have a chance
THe otter looks like one lego would do that has a chance
Popcorn machine and claw machine.... are a plus.
Snoopy though thinking more popular....

still thinking otter or snoopy.
my pick old tugboat. but I like pirates boats themes so hmm

Gravatar
By in United States,

Claw game would go great with the upcoming gumball machine.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only ones I would buy are the Tintin rocket, the Wallace and Gromit rocket, or the Voyager probe.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That Monet one looks more impressive than the original! Incredible build technique. Would love to see that and Tintin make it.

Edit: Upon closer look, the bottom half of the picture must stick out loads so it's a little deceptive having such a perfectly straight-on shot. It wouldn't look as good in real life. Great concept though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As usual, the sets I'm interested in probably don't have a chance...

Still, I'd love to see Konajra get an official set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm hoping for Snoopy or the Humpback Whale.

@twentythree: Ah, so that's what I was remembering! A gumball machine, not a claw machine. Thx!

Gravatar
By in United States,

In this round I will not be shocked if nothing is selected. Some cool stuff but as far as viable products? Hmm I dunno. Maybe the popcorn machine…

Gravatar
By in United States,

Bob Ross or the River Raft Ride

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Otter or Gravity Falls, for me.

I have no real hope of seeing Gravity Falls go through, multiple Mystery Shack projects have been rejected in the past, but I'd still be thrilled if it did. It definitely seems a popular time for it: the next upcoming Ideas review after this one has *two* different models of the same subject matter. I guess we'll see, but if it doesn't get chosen this time I think that very effectively rules it out for next time too.

As for the otter... well, I've got someone special in my life who loves otters. She doesn't share my interest in Lego, granted; but all the same I'd still like to get it for us if it passes ^^

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I feel like the only ones with a realistic chance of being accepted are the Whale one and the Iron Giant, maybe?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Downton Abbey is so cool!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Bob's Old Tugboat would make a great Bricklink Designer Programme set.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Tintin please...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want iron giant... Too bad it won't be iron giant.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Surprised Bluey hasn’t been archived yet.

Anyways, think I’ll root for Gravity Falls and The Iron Giant, don’t think they'll be picked though

Gravatar
By in United States,

Given they’ve been rejected before, I won’t hold my breath for Appa and the Mystery Shack. But man, if those got approved the same week we got the Pokémon announcement…

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Tintin would be great, if it is selected and the set performs well, an entire new theme can be created, similarly to Minecraft. And I think Tetris has a chance due to the almost endless play value (i.e. huge number of different ways to place the tetrominoes)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I must have the Tintin Rocket for my LEGO spaceship collection.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The only ones I would consider buying would be the Mallard 27 or the River Rapids Ride 30, though seeing its drive mechanism makes me wonder whether a Pacman chain drive would improve it.

Claw Machine 10 - make it work! A split motor drive for the joystick and winch, plus a pneumatic grab.

The most likely might be Wallace & Gromit 14. If TLG do the deal with Aardman, we're in for a series of treats!

Gravatar
By in United States,

So excited for @lego bluey, but dang this Lego ideas one blows the actual Lego sets out of the water! Ka-Bluey! :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Best ones in no particular order:
-Mallard Duck
-Snoopy
-Iron Giant (that one has been in there many times before so guessing it won't make it again)
-The Sea Otter
-And Bluey!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The sea otter
Magic Lantern
Whale

Bluey wil not count

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Wallace & Gromit is an odd one now, as we know it's a possibility because Lego were happy for it to be in the fan vote for the 90s competition. But it seems odd to say yes to a set when one is in an open vote on the same platform.

Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) looks good but would need a lot of minifigures as its a big cast.

The Arsenal set would be a dream come ture, it does have merit covering an historic event and stadium. It also has a good reason to only make one side of the stadium, given its the part that's a listed building.

Gravatar
By in Greece,

The Working River Rapids Ride model is the only one that really catches my eye. There are some good designs here but they all feel kinda samey - either it's a new IP or something similar to what we've already gotten out of Ideas or other LEGO themes.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

The hydroplant is by far my favorite but I can imagine one of these machines as winner. Because the techniques what Lego can do with them.

And as much as I like Coldplay, I saw them few time on this current music of the spheres tour but I would never buy that set.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Monet.

I like the original - i like this lego version

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This could be a round where they pick none of them. Nothing here stands out as being set-worth unless it's already been done.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The working river rapids ride is original and looks like fun.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Hoping for the combine (likely won't make it) and Tintin.
The Pioneer seems like a good candidate to me, and Coldplayfor the quick cash.

Gravatar

Don't know if lego will produce a set with popcorn that looks so real that can be dangerous to little children...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Well, we all know Bluey and radio are out of the running.

Hoping for the Medieval Village, Western Blacksmith and/or Tram.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Iron Giant, Hydroelectric Power Plant or another of the modular.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I'd buy the Downton Abbey one, but I see zero chances for it being selected.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Plenty of good looking builds, but few that I'd be tempted to find enough space for.
Monet would probably be my most likely buy, plus the Mallard if it morphed into an A4 4-6-2 loco!
