It's the angle of the photo, I think

Mad Bear!

Wonderfully round and almost squishy looking bear.

This bear is so mad he's about to get up and punch me.

You would too if you lost your paws as well.

ugh poor teddy :( now I feel even a bit more sad than intimidated

By in United States,

I have a lot of thoughts on this, actually. First, the square glasses and round facial structure are giving nerd emoji vibes. Second, the arms look suspicious as heck. However, we can celebrate the fact that LEGO has finally made a cute brick bear. Also, I love the accessories, the pencils are adorable!

By in United States,

Kinda cute. Didn't notice the "angry eyes" until other people pointed it out. Definitely see it now.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Why so angry?

Gravatar
By in United States,

In Lego form and without fur, I feel like it's a robot bear from a dystopian horror film that plans to unalive unsuspecting people. Possibly while singing.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Makes purchasing that Hobbit set a better choice with a few GWPs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As I said on the Rebrickable entry for this set:

'Look Ma, no hands!'

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

A bear with a helmet....

Can't help but think it looks rather weird.

Gravatar
By in France,

Wow, that bear is holding a Lego brick representing... a Lego brick ? (Or is it supposed to be a Duplo ?) Anyway that's pretty meta! I mean, there's already an Ant-man set with upscaled bricks, but I can't think of any other set where a brick is representing a 1/1 scale Lego brick.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like him, I'd happily have him on display behind me for Teams calls at work, mirroring my frustrations with life in general - wondering if the new parts will be available in different colours at some point so that other colour options can be MOC'd...

The notches on the noggin read as eyebrows, and the high angle combined with the curvature makes them read as being slanted down in the center. That’s what Mrs. Potato-head referred to as “angry eyebrows”. There really isn’t a mouth, but that does kinda make it read as a frown. Change the POV to a low-angle up shot, and it’ll make the “eyebrows” look more sad or pensive, but I’m not sure what it’ll do regarding the implied mouth.

To be fair, that's generally what bears do when they encounter people.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Seeing this reminds me of the Teddy Bear Art Museum (https://teddybearartmuseum.dk/p/english) in Billund, which IIRC was started by Edith Kirk Christiansen, who was the wife of LEGO's second owner, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen.

Gravatar
By in Venezuela,

It looks angry without the glasses, IMHO

Gravatar
By in United States,

Paddington is back and he is P????D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think this is really charming. I suspect it won't be doubling up with the Easter Bunny though, although it would be a nice surprise if it does. So maybe 3rd April onwards.

hahahah can't unsee it now! looks like he is mad because you touched his legos

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The angry eyes and no paws certainly give off a slightly disturbing (horror movie?) vibe but I suspect the main target audience will not be bothered by this.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Cute. I think switching out those 2x2 domes for white would give it better 'hands/paws'?

In fact I'd love to see a what this looks like with a bunch of different colours for a 'patchwork bear'.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love the open book and glasses!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A Jekyll and Hyde bear. Glasses on, nice bear. Glasses off, nasty bear. Not too bothered about getting this, but probably end up with when I get the steamer.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

This bear gives me 'Boxing Helena' vibes...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Bit of a crash-helmet shape with those recessed eyes, but I quite like the grumpy look. A teddy-bear doesn't really need a nose bridge either, although with the spectacles it's adorable.

As for the paws, you could possibly just use white domes, or, a round plate with a pair of white and a pair of tan quarter domes.

Still the best-looking large ted LEGO has done to date though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I kinda wish they had included larger eyes or eyes with larger pupils to use when you add the glasses.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was a bit surprised to find out not only is that this not the first non-Brickheadz use of that glasses piece (I'd forgotten about 75392), but that 10261 and 71741 used it.

7789. Although, as @PurpleDave pointed out when that set was RSotD, maybe those are intended to be Duplo.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Plenty of Teddy Bears with practically no representation of a paw, certainly not from the picture's angle... this one's fine!

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

Those are not bottles.

Gravatar

Thunder Buddies for life.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

He will find you and...and will kill you.

Jokes aside. Like it a lot!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I cannot wait for part colors to become available to make a myriad of sausage hand people.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

He's not angry, that's just Paddington doing a hard stare because someone took his hat and coat.

Well somebody recently stole a whole Paddington statue here in the UK (well half of one anyway) so the Lego bear probably got off lightly...

Mostly, this is only true when the bear _unexpectedly_ encounters a person, and the person reacts inappropriately to the situation (running paints a sign on you that says “I’m food”). It’s also sometimes true if the bear is injured, starving, or unwell in some other manner. Or if you get too close to a mama bear’s cub. Most bear “encounters” never even get noticed, because as soon as the bear knows you’re there, they get the heck out of Dodge, without making their presence apparent.

At Yellowstone, they sell “Bear bells”, which are usually elastic straps that fit over your wrist or ankle, and have one or two sleigh bells attached (sometimes they have a small bag attached, which will help muffle the bells when you pull the bag over them). People joke about these bells a lot, but I learned at one of the Ranger stations that groups of five adults or more never have bear encounters in the park, because they make enough noise to tip the bears off to their presence.

That said, I think it was a week to a month after we went to Alaska that I later read about a cross country foot race through Anchorage, where a lone runner who was out of sight of the leading and trailing groups ended up getting killed by a bear, right inside the city limits.

And an adult Kodiak bear probably won’t run from a puny human, like a regular black/brown/grizzly bear will.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Anyone else getting Akira vibes?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't know how they managed to pull off cute -and- angry, but they did!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Poor bear has sausages instead of arms.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Anyone else suddenly hear Seth Macfarlane's voice?

Gravatar
By in United States,

That thing is kind of creepy

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Totally looks like he’s wearing a helmet though.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Let me guess, the B-Model can be a burger. :))

Gravatar

Possessed teddy bear!! Call an exorcist!!

I'll be sure to wear a bell when around any type of bear from now on. :-)

By in United States,

No matter how hard I look I can't see the angriness people seem to be ascribing to this bear. Maybe it's the autism but it just looks like a regular teddy bear to me.

Look right above the eyes. See those notches in the quarter dome? Imagine their eyebrows instead. They slant down towards the center, which is frequently used to demonstrate anger in cartoon/comic characters.

The heavy overhang above the eyes make it look like a frown.

I find the sausage arms a bit disturbing as they are so uniform along the length. Changing the domes on the end to white would have broken up the mono-colour and looked like white paws.

Gravatar

its not just that was my initial thought as well

Gravatar
By in United States,

Everybody's talking about the eyes, but I'm wondering how those ears are connected, and how this guy looks from behind.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think it's purely down to the unfortunately positioning of the cutouts above the eyes, but I still think it looks brilliant. Really looking forward to getting this, unless it has a ridiculous threshold or theme limit.

(and I'm not too bothered what it looks like from behind, or if the ears are held on with glue!)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Without spectacles it looks menacing. Maybe better with the eyes rotated a little.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Still not available, but then Google tells me that Children's Day is May 18th 2025 (in the UK - no idea if it changes from year to year but certainly there are different dates for different countries)
