75401 still $44.99 in USA
Really poor from Lego, a lot of people would have bought things two days ago that are now cheaper or have struggled to find things to reach £145 / 160 only to find two days later that there are now better options.
Can brickset reach out and ask the Lego group if they will refund people the difference in price for items that haven't been received yet? If not maybe a short article on the returns policy and procedure would be helpful.

Showing as $38.24 for me in the US. Maybe there was a bit of lag on the price updating for that set.
Screw me I guess for being a loyal little customer and buying on the first day of the advertised event. ??

LEGO would likely refund the difference if you called them and explain,
Store Managers hate this one simple trick!
Not a very correct business policy, they should have at least announced that there would be new offers during the promotion. "Fortunately" I only bought the Star Destroyer, which was not discounted afterwards.

Got it! Made my order!
Nice for the sales to reset the prices back what they should've been in the first place
If they want to roll out different promotions (like Amazon Prime... Day, Week or whatever) then this is a messaging issue. It should be plastered all over the website "New Deals Each Day!"
Otherwise people are used to the typical Lego event where there's a known list of discounted sets that are the same until supplies last.
I just don't understand why people buy LEGO from LEGO. Even on sale, their prices are usually higher than normal high-street prices. Looking at these Star Wars "offers", they barely match (if at all) the everyday prices in, say, Kmart.

Because of exclusive GWP's, and that's pretty much it.
Anyways, I too bought $160 of sets early on May 1st to get the clone cadet set. The 3 sets that I got now total just $140 with these discounts. Do you guys think Lego would actually refund the difference if I contacted them with unhappiness? If these had been the prices on May 1st, I would've got the same 3 sets plus another small set to hit the $160 threshold.

1. As above, Lego offer incentives such as GWP that no one else can.
2. Lego keep some sets exclusive to themselves. I believe this can vary by region, so it may be less relevant to you, but if Lego is the only place to buy it, then uh, I’m going to buy it at Lego.
3. Lego Insiders points equate to 5% off at all times. So when there’s a 2x points that’s 10% off. This only works if you turn your loyalty points into money off, instead of getting exclusive stuff, but then that’s covered by point 1.

Call Lego and mention everything you’ve said, along with the fact you could exercise your right to return everything you’ve ordered, whilst placing a new order with the discounts.
At this point discuss the environmental impact and that the simplist solution is they give you the discount by way of refund or points ;-)
Be calm, but firm with them, they are usually pretty good :-)

Agreed. Good advice. Trust me, I've spent WAY too much of my life dealing with Lego CS. :(
P.S. It makes the situation a LOT easier for them to resolve if you are willing to accept the price difference in VIP points.
P.P.S. Double points, GWPs, plus another 15% sale equals a total discount of 40% by my figuring (GWPs = $25).. I guess I'm opening my own clone training facility.
20% isn't a discount anymore, it's just what the product should have cost.

Yeah, thanks but no thanks....
Bad form by Lego, you really take your luck with ordering on 1st May with the risk of the GWP selling out versus discounts applied a few days later.
Do Lego really think people are suddenly going to buy over £145 stuff again because of a 15% discount when other retailers are offering 30%?

Double points, GWPs, plus another 15% sale equals a total discount of 40% by my figuring (GWPs = $25).
In the U.S., this is quite a rare discount.

Yup, that's the problem with the "it'll go on discount anyway" mindset for overpriced sets. They go from too much to barely OK, instead of from OK to good.
Nah, I'm good. I fell for Lego's May 4th trickery last year and it didn't leave me feeling like a satisfied customer.
The Kamino set is already popping up everywhere, so if I decide I might actually want it I'll buy it from somewhere else.
Most eagerly awaited countdown timer on Lego.com
Ending in 02 days : 11 hours : 29 minutes : 49 seconds
Anticipating more interesting GWPs after that
(Although 40759 having a site update to May 2025 isn't exactly filling me with hope)!
I wonder if the actual May 4th will bring more offers for people to get irate about!
Something tells me that this years May 4th hasn’t been as popular as before - hence the further discounts. Luckily nothing I bought is on the list but the fact that hardly anything is so,d out or on back order says it all. There are also some much better deals in Smyths and John Lewis if you are not spending over the £145 GWP threshold.
And my order from the 1st May has just been delivered so they are definitely quiet !
Consumer confidence is low in the US, this actually might be a response to low turnout

They have discounts in all regions, so I wouldn't think it is anything specific to the US.
But unlike in the US, 30% discounts are quite a regular occurrence in the UK. So 15% is nothing special.
I'm not minding the discounted prices on stuff in Canada and the US. I would much rather see this sort of percentage markdowns over the offers of extra VIP points (I'll always call them that!). That said, I agree with others that these markdowns should have been advertised at the start and available through all days of the promotion. I guess the tactic is to buy any new releases, which won't be marked down, on Day 1 to curb your FOMO and secure the GWPs, then wait for the hoped for deals to show up on later days.
Nothing to see here. All the same discounts major retailers are already regularly offering on these sets, at least in the US.

Chat with Lego CS and you will get back the difference either in insiders points or electronic gift card. I did it an hour ago with no issue.
Interesting that two UCS sets are on sale in Europe with nada in the US.

Absolutely, worst May the 4th event for years. For the past three years I've placed on average three orders in each event, but didn't order anything this year. The UCS is one of the few releases since 2013 I've not bought, and I feel the GWP is awful. Even with the discounts the prices are still too high. I've gone from buying about 90% of sets released to about 25%.
