I NEED it!

By in Singapore,

Woohoo!

By in United Kingdom,

This seems a little out of nowhere, but pretty great.

On reflection I wonder if this is an overgrown GWP/Insider Reward which they realised they couldn't get away with releasing that way. Maybe that's a little cynical of me, but more random items like this seem to end up as one of those two things.

It's pretty great to have an interesting display model that doesn't cost £70+.

No idea how many pieces but doesn’t seem too bad, love everything about it

468 according to the Brickset entry, so pretty good if ppp is your thing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

JUNKBOT MENTIONED!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh my word Junkbot is a memory that was buried DEEP. My brother had a whole custom minifig that he designed and everything tho

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh I’m definitely getting that. That is AWESOME!

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Lots of stickers, but it looks good and for the price, it's acceptable. Solid if this is your jam.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Hate the stickered detail on the inside. This could easily be brick-built....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey, it’s that one game that they pretend is the only thing that happened during the time when Bionicle was keeping the company from insolvency. What’s it called again? Oh, yeah, JUNKE:OT.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's got to be the smallest possible Classic Space ship now, right? We can call that a finished project and move on to Futuron?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like it. Good price too. I'll likely get it sooner than later.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

DAY 1 ... I like idea that you can live there inside.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I could use a whole village of these for different games in different colors, for all the space I don't have.

I HAVE A POWERFUL NEED.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Originally was going to pass on it due to being generic and not a licensed Galaga cabinet or something like that, but the Junkbot cabinet inside is a charming piece of nostalgia, especially for late90s/early00s folk.

The random sai on the wall I assume is there to be an unlicensed nod to TMNT given the 80s/early90s nostalgia bend and arcade prevalence, because juxtaposed against the mini two-piece Classic Space homage, it reads almost like a Ninjago reference, which is wildly anachronistic, and it wouldn't work as a classic castle ninja reference since the part didn't exist until 2012.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

Insectoids on the self?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

JUNKBOT, WOW!

Gravatar
By in Finland,

Also TMNT reference...

Gravatar
By in Finland,

Galaxy Explorer reference found

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It looks pretty decent but presumably it is a large sticker for the display. The coin coming straight back out again is also a bit unnecessary. Machines that did that were junk.

The interior is nice too, although he was a lucky lad to have an arcade machine at home.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Pretty cool set, but the minifig's made up of pretty generic pieces, imo. Seems like they could've done something a little more unique like 71007-4.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

Could those SPACE-logo and big SCREEN be prints?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

At first glance I wasn't impressed, looked more like a rejected GWP. But then saw the pictures of the inside, and honestly, that elevated the whole thing to another level. Sure, it's nothing groundbreaking, but it is a fun set that for once doesn't break the bank.

Space logo is a sticker, the screen is a print.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like fun

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The Space logo is clearly a sticker, but the screen looks like a print indeed. And I'm wondering about the decorations on the side, I would expect that to be a sticker, but I don't see an obvious edge...so maybe also a print?

As for the screen, while it looks pretty good on the big picture (a render...), there's also a lifesytle photo with the actual product, where that tile doesn't look that great, with the antistuds on the bottom clearly showing.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Almost perfect.... If it had been Space Invaders it would have been fully perfect!

I'm noticing this a lot with tiles these days. Very unfortunate. Ironically a case where a sticker may have looked better, although I can sometimes even see the circle through the sticker!

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Is that Xenon 2?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Interesting

Gravatar

HA! VG-obsessed minifigure lives on his parents' basement

Gravatar
By in United States,

Always appreciate a Junkbot reference. But if they could sneak in a sticker of his actual face one of these years I'd be in heaven.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

...Junkbot?
Now that's something I never expected them to reference, ever.
Back from when games on LEGO.com took time and effort to complete.
Not exactly convinced by its representation on the screen though, feels more like a "hey, remember this from your childhood? We do too!" reference than anything.
But hey, still nice to see.

Gravatar
By in France,

J'aime bien, ce set finira dans ma collection.

Junkbot my beloved!

They also did in 70657 NINJAGO City Docks and 10273 Haunted House.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Love it!
It’ll pair nicely with the prize machine and pacman set.

“Miscellaneous” is the new theme to watch out for besides “ideas” and “icons” with the up-scaled figures and now this one!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Lego really doesn't want me to eat food the week before august first.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

As something that I absolutely do not need whatsoever, I might actually get this. This oozes nostalgia for me. And to top it off, it says 'Space' on it!

Maybe we'll also get a pinball at the same scale.

I'm pretty sure the third-party sticker companies will be all over this and you will be able to change the top branding and the game screen to fit your preferences. Zaxxon, PacMan, Centipede, Donkey Kong comes to mind.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

If I wouldn't know better, I'd think this is a FunWhole/Lumibricks design.

I wonder if there will be some future cross-pollination in designs and themes.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

One of the more interesting Miscellaneous sets that we've gotten in a while.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Also appreciate the scores 6985 & 6781 , a couple more Easter eggs

I’ve never seen a comment section this positive on Brickset before.

This set simply boggles me. I don't hate it but I also don't love it or even get it. I don't know what to think about it. lol

Ooooh! Out Run playing in the TV. And the spaceship on the side of the cab is from the Space Baby set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ahhh, the ol' nickle arcade. So many fun hours.

You had to pay $5 to get in, the games were a little older, but then you had three hours, and all the games were 5 cents (except for Dragon's Lair 3d).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’d love to raid that interior but stickers…

The high exposed pipe certainly does suggest he’s living in some sort of sub-optimal housing. Sub-parents would certainly qualify.

@HOBBES:
Obviously, the game they should have licensed to represent in this set is Frogger, because George and Kramer already exist. Also, frogs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why such a boring torso though?!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hm, not particularly interested in arcade cabs, but this does look really good. And a good value. I'm shocked!

Now, why would an old Harry Potter torso that's been used 7 times be boring? ;)

Frogger would do just fine, there are so many to choose from: Joust, Galaga, Dig Dug, Kung Fu Master, Pole Position, Defender, Missile Command, etc...

B3 Customs has many arcade machines (minifig scale) with names like Froggy, Brickey-Kong, Dot-Man, Brikipede, Q*Brick, Defending, etc.

I distincly remember the smell of those machines back in the '80's.

Gravatar

Junkbot and Classic Space reference!
Also numbers 6985 and 6781 on the screen aren't coincidence.

Gravatar

I actually adore the mini arcade more.

10273 also had a reference to Junkbot :) Although unprinted and hidden inside a crate.

Is this at the same scale as the upscaled minifigure and the yellow suitcase set.

Eyeballing it, it looks like, at the very least, the scales aren't too far off.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

As a huge gaming fan I have to say I expected this to be a yellow Computer Space cab in Lego, with the seventies lady next to it. Now I only get warm feelings on the 2 brick LEGO 487 set miniature. And this was a typical set to be Scandinavian gender neutral with a classic minifig. Now it has some millenial hipster dude, who missed the oportunity to wear a DX7 logo brown T-shirt.

Why is our guy so angry? I would definitely swap out that head for a classic smiley one. He got to go back and live in the 80s! What could possibly be happier than that???
