LEGO Wicked Glinda & Elphaba Bookends announced, including Wicked minifigures!
Posted by CapnRex101,
LEGO introduced several Wicked sets last year, each containing mini-dolls or large-scale figures. Under those circumstances, there is often some interest in minifigure versions of the characters as well.

View more information and high-resolution images of the all-important minifigures below...

Good price for a licensed set, nice execution for the Minifigures, overall, very nice.
This might finally get my wife to share my Lego obsession…ahem* hobby.
One can dream…
Let us be glad! Let us be grateful!
Fantastic set. Can't wait to get it…
I'd really like to see more LEGO book end sets, both licensed and unlicensed!
They look so good! Model is great as well.
I was among those who wanted Wicked minifigs, and I'm glad we were heard, but Glinda looks a little too much like Ariana Grande to look right next to the other 6 Wizard of Oz figures. (if anyone has better ideas for a head and/or hair piece, please @ me!) though I might stick Elphaba's hat on her Dimensions counterpart.
And I was really hoping for affordable flying monkeys. ah well.
A few flying monkeys and it would of been perfect
Bowen Yang!!!
This is really fun. I like that they gave Glinda a new hairpiece that more closely represents her hair in that outfit.
I'm happy that they released minifigs for the people who were complaining about the minidolls. I don't personally care either way, and they'll all be hanging out together.
This is a strong start to the next wave of Wicked sets.
Easily the best set in the theme. Amazing minifigures, amazing build.
I don’t know Wicked but these Book Ends obliterate all the silly Book Nooks. Kudos and job well done to the designer and LEGO.
worst....movie....ever
Oh, this reminds me. I figured out how to seat a minifig on a broomstick, and I need to convert the OG Wicked Witch over to that design for my Yellow Brick Road vignette. And I also still need to build a miniature Emerald City to place in the background.
@yellowcastle:
I’m pretty sure the Balrog could take any of these six minifigs, individually or all together.
This is pretty nice I think, the only slight shame is that you can't really display the interiors realistically, considering the intent is to put books in front of them. Looks like giving a good view would require hiding the built up props somewhat.
1/10 Another stupid novelty item with desirable figures.
Good grief! - they’ll put Han Solo in anything!
I think they would have looked better if the books were the same height. The designs of the spines make it look like they are produced by the same publisher but taken from different editions.
Wicked Wicket? This can't be a coincidence...
Another set to add to my list. It was getting quite short lately, so I suppose that's a good thing. It does put the HP and LoTR book nooks to shame. I like the neatness of the mini figures on the books and city outlines.
That double-mold and printing on The Wizard is utterly wasted. It looks nice from the front but I can not get over how the side of his legs and behind are the completely wrong color.
Even if they wanted to present his pants because he likes to stand around with one hand in his pockets, pushing the coat out of the front of his legs, why would they still print the dark green in front as if he is wearing the coat in a regular manner? This approach really makes no sense and is just more expensive while a different character in a different line can not get the nice pair of boots they deserve.
I only watched the movie quite recently (and loved it) so it's nice to see minifig-versions of the figures.
The wizard must have hit the beach, Jeff Goldblum looks tan

Wow,
Just looked at this and yes.
It appears that LEGO prefer to focus on the look from the front, and ignore when that makes figures look worse from the side/back.
Though even then, could the lighter green not have been printed and the dark green the base?
So many other figures could be vastly improved with Duel molded legs. And then it is used on a figure that would be better without.
Nice to see minifigures from the movie, and Ariana Grande/Glinda’s ham dress.
Goldblum now joins the relatively short list of actors with three or more minifigures.
Oh, so NOW we get Wicked minifigures.
(I’m kidding, this looks like a really nice set)

The lighter green could have been printed on the front and outer sides, but not the back and inner sides of the legs. It is often a problem when they want to put detail on legs. Boots patterns work OK with dual molding, but jacket/coat tails not so much, unless they go all the way to the boots. Jacket or any torso detail that extends from torso to legs only look good if the figure is front on and standing straight. Pose the legs, and it tends to look silly (as in the final picture, where the coat print on the legs becomes detached.
OK, different target audience as this is minifigures as opposed to minidolls.

I finally got my wife to share my obsession when the botanicals theme came out. Shes got almost all of them now. I showed her this set last night, and she wants it now too. Talk about a win!
Damn! Good minifigs are my weakness.
It's amazing how other themes get six cool figs in a display set, and SW gets bupkis!
1. Fiyero should have facial hair. 2. The Wizard never wears a top hat in the movie (maybe he does in Part II, I don't know). 3. I feel like Elphaba's skin is too dark (compare it to the screenshot on the back of the box), but maybe lime and bright green were too bright. 4. Weird to have Bowen Yang over Nessa and Boq. 5. I don't like how they have start-of-the-movie/flash-forward Glinda next to end-of-the-movie/Emerald City Elphaba.
I was a fan of the film and I want the figs, but I'm not the biggest consumer of literature, so I wouldn't have much use for the bookends. It's a bit odd to have bookends and nooks be mostly based on movies instead of books, but I guess there's not too many pictures (or market appeal) in novels.

I was wondering why he was wearing Luke's farmer shirt.
feels directionless, like they knew a wicked bookend would be popular so they just put together any random knickknacks to accomplish that

I wonder how many people use LEGO bookends as bookends. I'd worry that they weren't heavy enough to stay on the shelf when there are loads of books up against them.
Okay but why is Bowen Yang the best minifigure in the set?
Edit: just wait until Lego does national lampoon, and we can start collecting towards an SNL collectible series!

You haven’t seen many movies apparently.

That's what I was thinking. These would probably hold a row of paperbacks fine, but hardcovers? I have serious doubts.

That's also what I was thinking. Somebody needs to be introduced to Mystery Science Theater 3000. "The Master wouldn't approve..."
Popular, it's gonna be popular!
As a fan of the musical I was reticent when it came to the first film and I bloody loved it!
The sets however have left me a tad cold mind
These minifigures are drop dead GORGEOUS!! I love that wide dress piece in general and it's so perfect for Glinda. Super happy to see we're getting Wicked minifigures in addition to the mini-dolls from last fall!

They could print on the inner and rear surfaces of the legs, but I get why they never will. Both would be exposed to too much stress, likely resulting in the paint starting to chip off. But there's absolutely no reason why they couldn't have printed on the outer sides of the legs, and too frequently they've done this same thing where someone wearing a long coat can only be viewed directly from the front without looking like they're wearing some kooky outfit that's only ever supposed to be worn in a high-end fashion show and go straight in the trash afterwards.
@Blumbirde:
I think Elphaba _is_ bright-gteen. Look at the shot with her standing inside of the book, and she looks the same color as the "E" on the spine. Look at the shot showing the outward view of her bookend, and the green over where the Wizard goes appears to be a different, slightly darker shade of green than what's on the spine.

I suspect that they’re using the new rubber pieces on the bottom to prevent it from sliding around. I forgot what other sets have them.
I don't follow Wicked, but I'm glad this set exists for the fans who've been waiting for minifigure versions of these characters.
