Here's the press release for the latest issue of Blocks magazine:

Take a thorough look at the retro minifigures from 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine in Issue 130 of Blocks, the monthly magazine for LEGO fans, then learn about the unreleased LEGO trading card game and find out how Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught developed a new method for building faces to make the characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Exhibition more lifelike than ever before.

Issue 130 is available to order worldwide as part of a subscription or as a single issue at blocksmag.com and will be in UK stores from August 1.

To celebrate the new magazine, Blocks has deals available – if you take out a 12 month print subscription, you’ll get a FREE copy of Blocks Book of Retro LEGO Sets Volume II. If you go for a 24 month print subscription, then you’ll also get a FREE copy of 100 Incredible LEGO Builds. Order before July 29 to get the extras.

This is also the final month to take advantage of current subscription prices – now is the time to commit for 12 or 24 months to avoid the upcoming price increase. Existing subscribers are welcome to renew early.

Every month there’s a prize to win for subscribers – Blocks is giving away Fortnite 77072 Peely Bone! To be in with a chance of winning, take out a subscription before September 4, 2025.

LEGO Pokémon is on the way and fans are excited – but the LEGO Group almost delivered an original trading card game a decade ago. Find out all about the unreleased system that was developed to create a physical/digital hybrid trading card game that could have been incorporated into many different LEGO themes.

While that would have innovated with technology, Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught continues to innovate with physical bricks in LEGO Star Wars: The Exhibition. In an exclusive interview, he explains how he made every character in the collection look authentic using new face techniques.

Senior Model Designer Chris Perron also talks LEGO bricks this month in a wide-ranging conversation that goes from coming up with a style guide for BrickHeadz, through designing 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell with his colleagues, to channelling all of his love of Space Ice Planet into his first ever element.

That’s not the only retro reference in the magazine, as Blocks is looking at the modern updates of vintage characters in 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine. Find out who is who and what they are referencing in a full guide to the new yet old faces.

If you want to build something inspired by an old theme, there are instructions for a modern version of 8631 Jetpack Pursuit from Agents – or if you want something that ties to modern LEGO sets there’s a step by step guide to building a mini version of the Balrog from The Lord of the Rings.

That’s just a taste of what’s in Blocks, the monthly magazine for LEGO fans, Issue 130. Within this 116-page magazine you’ll also find a spotlight on Nannan Zhang’s incredible Crescent Moon build, how the LEGO Group sparked a summer of play in London, a look back at LEGO Island 2: The Brickster’s Revenge and much, much more.

Blocks is giving away 77072 Peely Bone! To be entered into the prize draw and to get Blocks magazine delivered every month – ahead of the shops – visit blocksmag.com and check out the money-saving subscription deals available.

For entry into the prize draw, you must have an active Blocks subscription at 11.59pm UK time on September 4, 2025 (existing subscribers will automatically be entered into the prize draw).
