LEGO Disney 43279 WALL-E and EVE announced!

Posted by ,

LEGO has announced another set launching on September 1st, 43279 WALL-E and EVE! This set contains the two titular robots alongside M-O and WALL-E's cockroach companion, Hal.

Considering its 811 pieces, many of which look as though they are printed, the price of £59.99, $69.99 or €69.99 seems quite reasonable at first glance and I think these models look fantastic; certainly worthy successors to the ever-beloved 21303 WALL-E from 2015.

I am very much looking forward to this set, not least because WALL-E is one of my favourite films, but what do you think of these renditions of the robots? Let us know in the comments.

They went all out on that cockroach!

Woah, an actually decent price? Lego are you feeling okay?

By in United Kingdom,

This is amazing. I skipped on the original as it was a little expensive for what it was, but I'm definitely going to be getting this. The value seems astonishing. It's also an interesting comparison of how Lego sets have changed over a decade.

By in Germany,

I'm a happy owner of 21303 (two actually), but might get this as well eventually. If only to directly compare both renditions.

By in Germany,

The price is actually pretty good!

By in Germany,

They look adorable!

By in Netherlands,

Cool! And seems quite decently priced, especially if those are all prints. It is obviously a lot smaller than 21303, but still big enough for some good detail.

Only that blue pin though.....was that really neccessary?

By in Germany,

How do Wall-E's arms work? Seems like they can switch positions?

'Foreign contaminant!'

M-O is the unsung hero of WALL-E. Without him, the movie ends quite differently.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This looks absolutely stellar! Definitely one I’ll have to get

By in Singapore,

I had 5 of the original Wall-E, sold 2 of them back in 2019.

Fixed one up and modified with Lego motors and IR remote control. Even requested for the neck fix parts back then.

Am so going to get this! Looks almost similar in size to the original model, also the simplified neck construction.

By in United States,

I thought the piece count seemed a bit low, but now I see that this version is going to be a bit smaller than the previous one. The main body is about 8 studs wide compared to 10 on the Ideas set.

Good observation! It seems to me it’ll either be a simple case of remove arms and attach elsewhere, or there’s an actual sliding mechanism built-in, which obviously would be the better option but I’m not sure they really went that far with it. I hope so though!

Edit: it seems Eve’s arms have a similar thing going on where I also can’t tell whether they actually have a fold inward mechanism or it’s just a simple reattachment. Really hoping for the latter, again :)

A modest size *Disney* set at less than 9 cents per brick?!? Amazing.

Wow, this is really great.

By in United States,

I was today years old when I learned that the cockroach from WALL-E had a name, lol.

As someone who owns 21303, I didn't think I was going to want this, but I kinda do! The price isn't too bad, and WALL-E and EVE look way better at this scale and parts count than I was expecting them to (I love the integration of the trash cube and the boot with the plant, as well).

As the cherry on top, they included my boy M-O! This looks like such a great set. I'm looking forward to the review of this one!

Nice to meet a fellow M-O fan; he's probably my favorite Pixar sidekick.

By in United States,

Absolutely amazing set, my only complaint is Wall-E's eyes. Ironically I think they have too much detail. I'll probably switch them out for plain black.
OK, I do wish they had an alternate piece with angry/annoyed eyes for EVE and a plain white piece to remove the green plant light from her chest (although that's easy to fix yourself).
But again, maybe the best set this year.

By in France,

I have missed the first WALL-E set, it's still on my wish list. So I am very glad to see this one coming, and at a fair price, and with Eve as a bonus! Instant buy for me !

By in United States,

This is shocking - a great surprise. And IMHO the set is remarkable. I own 21303 and it's one of my very favorite sets. I've customized it to look more movie-accurate, and I designed and built a companion EVE and also the SHF Rebrickable MOC for M-O. So I am very familiar with the building techniques and the challenges and limitations of getting WALL-E and the other characters "right" in Lego.

With that said, I'm amazed at how correct the overall proportions and look of WALL-E are here, at a smaller scale (maybe 75-80%?) than the Ideas set. In fact, the overall proportions look BETTER here - the Ideas set's head is a little too big for the body (although it makes it look very cute!) and the tracks are a little too wide. This one appears to be spot-on in both respects.

With regard to EVE, I (and others) have struggled mightily - and failed - to reproduce her eyes in a way that captures the movie model, so while I'm generally not a big fan of prints, I think this is the best way. It even appears as though there's room for her arms to retract into the body so she has no "shoulders" when she's not using them. Again, having designed a pretty intricate mechanism to enable this in my own EVE MOC, I am incredibly impressed that the Lego designer achieved this at this smaller scale.

The M-O is the only figure whose proportions suffer a little because of scale, since he has to be so much smaller than the other two for movie accuracy. But even there, I'd say the sacrifices are minimal: his forehead is a little too tall, and to my eyes his square red head siren is one plate too tall. If it doesn't retract, then the solution to that will be easy - just remove one trans-red plate.

Finally, the big question of course is whether these are stickers or prints. If they are prints, then this would be one of the best-designed and best-value Lego IP sets in any line in recent memory.

This is 100% a Day One purchase for me!

By in United States,

First thought: Small-E.
Second thought: In all these pictures, why does M-O look like Eve's angry ex-boyfriend lurking in the background? I mean, I guess that's not far off from his in-movie attitude towards Wall-E.

It looks like Wall-E's tracks can't support his weight, as that ugly dark grey chunk below his body seems to touch the ground (indicated by slideshoes). Also the prints are doing a lot of the heavy lifting, details-wise. But overall the models look fairly good, and it's pleasantly surprising how much functionality from 21303 has been preserved.

Wall-E's arms are on a sliding L-shaped track - you can see the huge gashes on Wall-E's sides in some of the alternate images on the set info page. No reattachment needed! Eve's arms are on a multi-joint folding mechanism as well, though there aren't any clear images of it (which is good for the completed model).

By in United States,

Looking more closely at the zoomed-in images, I suspect most of these graphical details will be stickers. WALL-E’s eyes and the can tops on his trash cube are definitely prints. But I think sticker borders are faintly visible in the photos for his front panels. And I would be shocked if his black and white arm striping were a new 1x3 printed tile - I think that’s a sticker too.

Similarly, the depth and opacity of the black coloring on both EVE’s and M-O’s faces look suspiciously like stickers to me. I hope I am wrong about EVE’s face, as it would be a real bear to apply such a sticker straight, centered, and smoothly on a compound curve part like that.

EDIT: looking at all the photos on Lego.com, the EVE face part is always shown with the face graphic already on the part, even when it’s sitting in a pile of parts not yet assembled. That would suggest that part is a print.

By in United States,

Hello Lego. Thank you. I'm back.
Yep, I know I don't like all those licensed models (I was in a toy shop today- it was wall to wall corporate tie-ins) but I'll make an exception for this. Not only because it's a franchise I actually recognise.
Why was I in a toy shop? I got the 3-in-1 dragon/serpent/phoenix at last: this also is well worth the money.

The basic rule for characters is eyes and faces should always be prints. Anything else, younger kids can wait for an adult or older sibling to help them with sticker application, but they don't want kids to have to wait for assistance to play with the models if they can get them built on their own. EVE's face and Wall-E's eyes are on compound curves, which they also try to steer clear of stickering, because most stickers won't sit flat on the edges if they do. I don't see any evidence of stickers on any of the faces/eyes. Also, on Wall-E's chest and arms, all the tiles have print so close to the edge that I really doubt those are stickers. The one part that I'm unsure of is EVE's plant emblem. It's a circle with a bordered edge, so I can't see anything that proves one way or the other. I'm doubtful that they'd make a sticker sheet for that one part if they've already got seven prints spread across 11 other parts.

By in United States,

This makes me feel better about the fact that my 21303 is stuck in storage. I thought I would just have to content myself with 40619. Not that I'm sorry about buying 40619, but this is great!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hoping for no stickers. Day 1 purchase if that is the case!

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Ok, just added to my buy-list!
I've the 21303, but even with its smaller scale, this one is great too.

Looks amazing and easily one of the best releases of 2025.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have the original Wall-E on my shelf and its fantastic! Have been hiping for a companion EVE, and this is amazing. I will be buying one to build and at least one to keep! THIS is what Lego can do, and will sell a TON of sets.

Lego, THIS is what we want.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was expecting this to be twice the price. I'm buying this!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This would be a Day 1 purchase for me if LEGO could just provide a headless picture of Wall-E…oh, wait, nvm.

Have the IDEAS set, need this...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I still have yet to see the movie...

But I have the IDEAS set. I doubt I need this, but it is cute and they did a good job with it. I hope in the review they show them both side by side so I can see the scale difference to see if I want this set after all.

I’ve heard that when Pixar has someone present an idea they might want to turn into a movie, they give them a budget to do research. For Cars, a few of them did a roadtrip on Route 66. For Ratatouille, it was a trip to Paris to sample French cuisine. For Wall-E, the director basically just made the first half of the film. I like the first half of the film. It was some of their best work up to that point, especially considering it involved almost zero dialogue. I rank the second half on par with The Good Dinosaur.

For the scale, the torso appears to be two studs narrower, but at least one comment noted that the head is at a different scale in relation to the body, vs the size difference in the Ideas set.
