Review: 75433 Jango Fett's Starship
Posted by CapnRex101,
7153 Jango Fett's Slave I was produced in 2002, launched alongside Attack of the Clones. LEGO Star Wars fans have frequently asked for a new rendition and 2025 has delivered, between the earlier Ultimate Collector Series design and now 75433 Jango Fett's Starship.
This design evidently owes a lot to 75312 Boba Fett's Starship, given its near-identical size and proportions. That is no bad thing because Boba's ship was excellent and this edition actually makes some improvements, particularly to the functions. However, among the 2021 model's strengths was its price, which has sadly not survived the translation to Jango's Slave I.
Summary
75433 Jango Fett's Starship, 707 pieces.
£59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 | 8.5p/9.9c/9.9c per piece.

Minifigures
I am pleased that Jango Fett is now available in a relatively affordable set, comprising many of the same parts as the minifigure from 75409 Jango Fett's Starship. The helmet and rangefinder look splendid, while the combination of metallic silver armour and leather details for the holsters and belt reflects Jango's onscreen appearance.
This version of the bounty hunter lacks printed arms, unlike the figure from 75409 Jango Fett's Starship. I understand wanting to keep something unique to that set, but making this minifigure deliberately inferior is quite frustrating. Perhaps the version available with the Ultimate Collector Series set could have had a printed headset or a different jetpack, for example.
Boba Fett is contentious for different reasons, as the hair element has been roundly criticised and the colours chosen for his sleeves and belt divide opinion. I do think a black belt would be more accurate, but the hairstyle is a greater issue for me. The double-sided heads look superb on both characters though and I am glad to see Jango Fett's hair piece provided.
Lama Su is a character I have wanted in minifigure form for a long time, but I doubted would ever be made, so his appearance here is a nice surprise! The head and neck element is very similar to that developed for Taun We, though with a sculpted collar and crest on this occasion. These look good, but designing the collar as a separate piece would make it easier to create other Kaminoans in the future, like Nala Se.
The prime minister's black, white and lavender garb looks excellent, including an accurate belt and ribbed details on the torso. The white stripe on the dress component is not an exact match for the torso, but that is not necessarily a problem here because its colour is notably off-white in both the film and Lama Su's animated appearances.
The Completed Model
Capturing the rounded shapes of the Slave I is always a challenge, particularly at a relatively small scale. Nevertheless, I think the designer has succeeded here, taking various cues from 75312 Boba Fett's Starship, but using parts developed since 2021 when useful. Moreover, the white, dark blue and sand green livery is striking and these colours are distributed accurately, considering the scale.
This model is marginally larger than 75312 Boba Fett's Starship, as its boom section has been extended by an extra stud. Otherwise, the pair are designed in much the same way, as I would expect because the older design was already very good. Apart from the colour change, the only immediately obvious update is to the blaster cannons, which are now stud shooters.
Furthermore, the supply vehicle that doubles as a display base returns, with improvements we can examine later. Much like their Ultimate Collector Series counterparts, there are differences between the pair, but they are clearly similar enough to display together and show the evolution of the Slave I.
Among the subtle changes are refinements to the shape of the engine housing, using the 2x3 curved wedge slopes produced for Speed Champions in 2022. There are features I wish were smoother, particularly the armour flanking the boarding ramp, but I am not sure how the design could realistically be improved with existing parts.
The structure linking the engine shroud to the fuselage is also nearly identical to the previous model. Technic elements provide a strong connection and the angle of the fuselage section is pretty much perfect, compared with the vehicle in the movie.
A few stickers are applied for extra detail, but all the yellow highlights are brick-built and these stickers are definitely not excessive. The bodywork around the cockpit features another newer piece, with the 1x2x1 2/3 curved slope that originally appeared in 75398 C-3PO last year.
Clearly, this model is far below minifigure-scale, but I still think it looks reasonable with figures around. For instance, Jango Fett cannot actually climb the boarding ramp and there is no door into the fuselage, although it looks as though he could access the ship from here.
While this vessel looks splendid in its landed configuration, Slave I is even more impressive in flight. Fortunately, a stand is supplied to display the vehicle taking off, again inspired by 75312 Boba Fett's Starship. However, the updated stand is more substantial than its predecessor and therefore feels slightly more stable.
The display stand converts to a cargo sled for play, which is again bigger and more elaborate than the equivalent produced in 2021. The vehicle cannot be described as visually interesting, but its design mirrors many of the cargo sleds and maintenance craft seen throughout the Star Wars movies and it moves around on 2x2 sliders underneath.
I assume the black and white accents near the back are an effort to match the few Kaminoan vehicles shown onscreen, though they look out of place to me. Regardless, there is space for any of the included minifigures to sit or stand at the controls, with Jango Fett's blasters and an empty crate also on board.
Returning to the Slave I, the back is impressively detailed and includes a launcher for seismic charges. A trapdoor opens when you press the 2x2 curved slope on the boarding ramp, which releases two seismic charges. This mechanism does not always work when the vehicle is held upright, but will with some gravitational assistance.
The seismic charges are loaded under the boarding ramp. You need to be careful when doing so, as both explosives will only fit with the ramp closed when they are placed sideways, rather than thrown randomly into the launch bay.
A folding handle is located on the back. I am not convinced this was necessary on a model of this size, especially because the handle is relatively small. However, its only real drawback is interrupting an engine band and the round engines underneath are accurate, complete with a nice trans-yellow glow.
75312 Boba Fett's Starship had small gaps around the cockpit and the same issue affects this model, as its canopy does not fit seamlessly against the fuselage. However, the gaps are fairly minimal and the cockpit's overall shape is accurate to the movie. In addition, I love the brackets forming yellow stripes immediately beside the canopy.
There is more space inside the cockpit on this occasion, accommodating both minifigures with ease. Boba Fett stands on a ledge and Jango sits in front, even when wearing his jetpack. The pilot's legs would be a bit further from the canopy, ideally, but managing to fit both minifigures in the cockpit at all is an impressive feat!
The dark green armour around the wing mechanism looks perfect and I am pleased the laser cannons are included on each side, although the light bluish grey parts around them could be neater. Otherwise, this section of the vehicle makes a number of minor improvements over the prior model.
Notable among them are the wings, which now turn in unison, instead of separately. They still move with the angle of the Slave I though, as on many renditions of the craft. The detailing on the wings is superb as well, including bright light yellow accents and mechanical texture on the wing supports.
A fifth sticker is applied on the front, forming the yellow patch and dark green dots seen on the starship in the movie. The green patterns further down are brick-built though, which is typically preferable. The stud shooters, on the other hand, seem awkward. Honestly, I expected them to look even worse than they do, but their inability to rotate is disappointing.
Overall
I was very satisfied with 75312 Boba Fett's Starship in 2021 and 75433 Jango Fett's Starship looks even better, on the whole. Personally, I favour this colour scheme, but more importantly, the new model offers more functions and takes advantage of a few recent parts to make some improvements. The minifigures are more appealing too, particularly Lama Su and Jango Fett, even without printed arms.
The main problem, as so often, is the price. £59.99, $69.99 or €69.99 sounds alright for a set containing 707 pieces, but simply feels too expensive for a model of this size, even taking the maintenance cart into account. Having said that, this is nowhere near as overpriced as several other Star Wars sets this summer and once discounted, it will become a fine purchase.

$70 just for Lama Su… oy vey!
I don’t find it overpriced, even for the size. The way I see it, it’s $50 for the build, $12 for Lama Su, $8 for Jango, and a terrible bonus of Boba. I’m serious, he’s really bad. Anyways, I don’t mind the size because I love detail, and this thing is fully tiled off, and quite detailed. Having said that, I won’t buy it yet because there are many other things I want…. Final Verdict: Great set!
Current Mood: discordantly uninvolved
Current Music: Britney Spears - I'm A Spaceship 4 U
The sled doubling as a stand is genius.
Also hot take: the handle is small and that’s fine because it’s for kids 9+ so they can whoosh it around, not for middle-aged man hands.
Another set you wouldn't have a second look at if not for the inclusion of a desired minifig like Lama Su. I'm really tired of this trend.
Am I the only one who always saw this ship as modeled after an elephant head?
“Overpriced” should be hard coded into every review now lol
When I first saw this I felt a bit silly for picking up 75433, but I don't think I regret that decision.
It is a bit odd to make a second Jango torso without printed arms - I assume this is a cost cutting measure, if it's cheaper to store two different elements than to use the more expensive printed arm version. I'd be surprised if it was just to preserve the value of minifigures, but I guess it's not impossible.
It's kind of odd that this set has the unique fig and the £260 UCS doesn't, bar a couple of printed arms.

Cheaper to buy 75333 and a black sharpie.
Remember when you could get an exclusive Boba Fett in a sensibly priced Advent Calendar?
Neat set, and glad that they offered it as a cheaper alternative to 75409. The build looks great for the scale, and I love the inclusion of the service cart / stand.
The Jango minifig is fine for what it is. Obviously printed arms would have been nice. That Boba is atrocious. Lama Su looks really good.
Overall a neat set, but not one I plan to buy.

I don't agree.
This is the first affordable Version of Jango Fett's Slave I in over twenty years, a highly desirable ship, and quite a good rendition at that. The minifigs are just an add-on for those who are interested in them (I personally don't give a smeg about them, don't even know who Lama Su is, nor do I care).
It doesn’t seem overpriced to me, given the minifig selection and number of parts. I do wish they could achieve the same result with LESS parts, but it’s still an easy pickup because I live Slave-1 and I especially love the minifig selection one from 2021. This one will look great sitting right next to it.
Lama Su? Isn't that Ken Penders's character that he's making that terrible "graphic novel" about?
"The seismic charges are loaded under the boarding ramp. You need to be careful when doing so, as both explosives will only fit with the ramp closed when they are placed sideways, rather than thrown randomly into the launch bay."
This gave me the giggles.
It would have been fun if LEGO had provided a Seismic Charge Loading Warning in the instructions....or better yet, a sticker for the set. :o)
If this model is similar to Boba's ship, is it possible to swap the stud shooters for the blaster cannon from that set?
Man, I remember getting the 2010 Slave I for $63 at a Toys R Us sale... Crazy that this is what $70 gets you now
Once again the price sticks out. 75433 has a little more than 100 pieces than 75312 yet here in Canada costs $20 more. I am truly wondering how much control Disney has over Lego with their agreement to allow Lego to continue to use the Disney and Star Wars brand...and I don't just mean the pricing of sets.
I had no interest in 75312 because I already had 75243, but this is more tempting. Now do a Microfighter, Lego!

That's the logic that gets you the Republic Juggernaut and the 327th Battle Pack. Enough justifying the prices of overpriced sets by comparison with the economics of buying minifigs separately from the sets they come in!
I wish it was in scale with 75243, this just looks too small compared to the figures.
The design is nice, but the scale is ridiculous. I was mad for a new playset of Jango Fett's Slave, but this is disapointing. Literally it should be twice bigger, like the 2002 one at least. 23 years waiting for nothing
I miss the old times where Lego respected or made closer approaches to the in-universe scale of Star Wars vehicles (and for a reasonable price). I hate this new reduflation tendency. Wasted oportunity! I'll pass on this one
Super-detailed review - thank you! A very nice refinement of the ship design from the Boba Fett Slave I that it's based on.
I just don't get the price complaints, though. As usual, folks simply refuse to account for inflation, which is bigger than Lego and bigger than their IP partners. $50US in 2021 for 75312 is equivalent to $60 today ($59.62 to be exact). That's 10 cents per part compared to 9.9c per part for this new one - and this one has more detail, a series of small but noticeable refinements, a slightly larger ship, and 3 minifigures instead of two. And both sets use a licensed IP for which about 13c per part is the norm - a PPP that produces some grumbling (understandably), but which is clearly accepted as the norm for Star Wars sets and does not inevitably generate "this is overpriced" comments in the reviews.
Subjective preferences are fine of course - folks personally value specific figs, design aspects, part density. detail, and so on in varying ways. All good. But objectively this is simply not an overpriced set. The smallest meaningful increment of price reduction here would be $10. And $60 for a 707-piece set would work out to 8.4c PPP - great if you can find this set for that price, but as a retail price 8.4c PPP is completely unrealistic for Lego Star Wars and virtually every other licensed IP line. And everyone - including the folks saying how overpriced this set is - knows it.
I want it for Jango and lama su
Never liked the ship(s), but I kinda like the Lama Su minifig (to go with Taun We). So, yeah, well, I guess I'll never own a Lama Su.

I think it is the piece count where they get you in sets like this. The comparison with 75312 is pretty telling. Very similar in size for essentially the same ship but 593 vs 707 pieces. So the new one has 20% more parts and one extra minifigure. And going on number of minifigures and number of parts, the price going from £45 to £60 doesn't seem too bad. But when the actual size of the sets is almost identical, it is less favourable. But of course these past few years have seen quite high inflation and devaluation of currency.
I don't think the overall price is that bad with recent inflation but this is also hidden in the deflation of average part size.

The good thing is, these days discounts on Star Wars sets on Amazon can go as high as 50%. Not on all sets of course, but many.
Just as one example I recently bought 75404 for 29.99 Euro, which is 40% off RRP. Not bad.
Crazy this is the first play scale Jango Slave 1 since the original. About time. Definitely getting this.

It is probably not really fair to compare discounted prices in clearance sales from 15 years ago to RRPs now. If we are, then the common TESCO misprices in the UK would put every RRP now to shame!
Get 'em, Dad!!
Boycott in effect until prices come down.
Nice review.

But that’s not justifying the build. I’ve done this for years. Not all PPPs are created equal. I’ve tried to justify the 327th Battle Pack, I have; so I won’t do it again here. The naut-a-juggernaut’$ build is still terrible, and I’ll never justify that one. When you are someone who cares about the Minifigures, I believe you have to look at this. I’m not even throwing the fact that this is a licensed set in there! It’s a very good price for a Star Wars set with an even PPP, a good build, three minifigures, and a new mold. What more could you want?

Maybe in Europe. Maybe 20% off in the United States.
PPP is a largely arbitrary metric tossed around by consumers and reviewers to mentally justify prices. Price per kg is a slightly better indicator although the ABS itself is still worth only pennies. Cost mostly comes down to what Lego thinks they can reasonably get for a set. You’re paying for the design a majority of the time as some models go through a dozen iterations or more. Is an additional $10 inflation adjusted compared to the previous version worth it for a tweaked design with a handful of extra parts plus a 3rd minifig? I don’t think that’s ridiculous for this particular model.

The comparison with 75312 Boba Fett's Starship is fair and inflation since 2021 is a factor, but many people, myself included, considered Boba Fett's Starship to be overpriced at the time of release, so it is not an automatically favourable comparison.
Even as a huge fan of Jango, I can't think of any other word to describe this set besides 'pathetic.' TLG seems to have forgotten the entire point of their downsizing initiative, which was to make sets CHEAPER. This thing barely looks like it'd be worth 30 dollars in terms of size. Also, in this particular instance, I fundamentally disagree with the idea of downsizing the Slave I in the first place. The only way this size would be acceptable is if it was included in a Kamino MBS set, much like 75222 .
7153 will always reign supreme IMO. Even if they had done a direct recolor of 75243 , it would still be missing so many of the amazing play features that made the original set from 2002 so great. Also, it would STILL be smaller. I really hope they take a completely different approach to this ship in the future if they ever make another one.
"Someone has hacked into the mainframe and the slaves have armed themselves!"
"You know I don't like that word"
"Alright, the Jango Fett's Firespray-class Starships have armed themselves."
I like the design of the ship and surprisingly agree with Lego on the price given the piece count. It is a great option for people to get a Jango minifigure and adding Lama Su is really cool. Here’s where they lost me though: even though the minifigs can sit in the cockpit, the size of the ship is still too small; there’s no room elsewhere in the ship for other minifigs. I could even deal with no boarding ramp, but at 700 pieces, the ship should be larger. The 2002 version 7153 was much larger and was only 369 pieces - the designer obviously used a lot more small pieces in this set. Even the designs for Boba’s ship in 2006 and 2010 used less pieces and were still a larger scale than this set. I get why people will buy this set but I’m happier with 7153 and using my money for something else.
I'll certainly be getting this one. Fair price, amazing build and great minifigures. Honestly went under the radar because of the other August sets.

Except that the stores are too often pre-raided by "LEGO investors" and handshake deals with store staff....especially for LEGO fans in Texas, I hear. :o)
I'm not a fan of the stud shooters on the model. A simple fix, but it is too bad that LEGO doesn't include more screen accurate parts with the set for an alternate build. One for play, one for display!

The good thing is, these days discounts on Star Wars sets on Amazon can go as high as 50%. Not on all sets of course, but many.
Just as one example I recently bought 75404 for 29.99 Euro, which is 40% off RRP. Not bad. "
Maybe in Europe. Maybe 20% off in the United States."
A sad but true reality. At least Target and Walmart have good clearance deals."
Except that the stores are too often pre-raided by "LEGO investors" and handshake deals with store staff....especially for LEGO fans in Texas, I hear. :o)"
Oh, it’s worse than you think. I looked recently, all they had has a million of Nubz starfighter for 50% off. Now that I think about it… I should’ve bought one. Oh well, they probably won’t run out, so I suppose I have time to get one. I dunno why it’s so bad here in Texas, but it is.
How would things have turned out if he had been named Mango Fett instead of Jango Fett.

Would Mango Fett then be Boba's papaya?
I think too many fans have unrealistic expectations, complaining because xyz isn't exactly like they want. You can't please everyone, if you try you will please no one.
As for Disney having indue influence on the pricing of the new Lego Star Wars sets... I see drastic price increases across ALL the Lego lines, imho this is just Lego trying to pull a Games Workshop: Making product constantly more expensive, while giving you less. Most fans will keep paying these prices and this will continue to ever higher revenue/profits.
Price isn't terrible (not great, but not a ripoff either). The previous Slave I cost $49.99 ($58.94 when you adjust for inflation). $11 more for an additional hundred pieces and a detailed Kaminoan figure makes sense.
My main gripe is the lack of arm printing on Jango. Arm printing on most Mandalorians is standard nowadays (recent Din Djarin figures, recent Boba Fett figures, and Bo Katan come to mind). Almost all of those more detailed figures showed up in cheaper sets than this one.
I really hope LEGO didn't do this to appeal to the people who were complaining that their UCS Venator no longer had an exclusive Captain Rex figure. Those kinds of people view this hobby as an investment and/or something to flex on us "plebs" with ("I have a super rare Jango and you DON'T, haha", etc.).
Do we all have to get downgraded figures now because a vocal minority of elitist fans are insecure about other people having figures as cool as theirs?

Honestly, I think that’s the only reason. I’m not saying they should’ve put arm printing for this version, but that’s why they did it. Personally, I think a UCS set that only includes one or two figures should be exclusive and decked out, but I get why for some people, they still want the same figure for a $20-30 set. I really liked that Rex had a microfighter, I even bought two. Yet, I think Lego should make them somewhat exclusive, because they will sell more if they are exclusive. We don’t have to love it, but they make more money, so why shouldn’t they? The sales won’t indicate that the fans don’t like it, quite on the contrary actually.
I do wish there was a differ defining feature, though. I do think Mandalorians should have arm printing be standard. Yet, this was Lego’s choice, and I don’t hate it.

"Never liked the ship(s), but I kinda like the Lama Su minifig (to go with Taun We). So, yeah, well, I guess I'll never own a Lama Su. "
You could always buy the set, take Lama Su out, then sell the set on eBay or Bricklink, making a note that it doesn't include Lama Su.
My Auntie has a Llama called Sue. What a coincidence!

In that case just buy a Lama Su minifig straight off Bricklink. That would save the effort of trying to sell an incomplete set and taking an equivalent price hit.
Overpriced? Sure. Not outrageous pillage your soul price gouging like with the 2025 Juggernaut and MTT Felucia sets though. Passed on all Aug SW sets at launch for the One Piece sets instead. Very happy with that decision! Recommend those One Piece sets! Down the road I will probably pick this set up as well as the Torrent and the Rebuild the Galaxy Snowspeeder sets (the latter of which I really like a lot. I hope they keep making these RTG sets. Very much in the true spirit of LEGO!). I am on the fence with the battle pack - overpriced for sure by $10 CAD. Have to be reduced at least $80-$90 CAD for me to consider either 75345 or 75413. And only if nothing else to buy come discount time.
I like that it's similar in size and in build to 75312. At least they're consistent, though I wish the price remained consistent as well. A 20€ increase in 4 years is outrageous, talk about inflation...
The additional minifig is nice but is clearly not enough to justify such a ridiculously high price.
I'll get one but only when it's on sale on Amazon or something.

Did you mean to link to 75345? That set came out two years ago, and while it does have a high PPP, it's only twenty Dolars US.
I was convinced Lego wouldn't release a palette swap of 75312 at the same scale because it wouldn't be able to fit young Boba, but they've gone and made it work.
A nice set, and I'm going to get it eventually, but indeed not at full price.

That's why , after making my own such mistakes too many times, I always go to the set's database entry and copy-and-paste the set number, unless it's one I know so well that I can rely on muscle memory, like 6780 (my first spaceship) or 10497.
Great review! Thank you.
And yes, definitely overpriced from the start.
Boycott and vote with your wallets, folks!
