Why on earth does Santa’s belt not go to the edge of the torso like the white trim underneath does? Looks absolutely silly…

This might actually be my favorite of the big minifigure builds so far - at least until next year’s rumored spaceman.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Santa buildable minifigure is extremely cute! I'm glad Lego has continued with these.

By in Netherlands,

These sets look surprisingly nice. I appreciate how the house opens up to form the facade for two houses, next to each other. That does suggest that the entire street is edible, and it does not bode well that there's a giant devourer of cookies coming down what remains of that street, but Giant Santa will have his tribute, whether he fits down the chimney or not.

Speaking of - don't get me wrong, I like the upscaled mini-figures, but I don't have space in my house for more of those. Maybe just one more, if TLG and Marvel ever reach the luminous conclusion to make an upscaled Ant-Man or Galactus, but other than that I'm good, thanks. Lovely as this Santa is, I don't think I love it enough to keep it on the shelf for the rest of the year.

I suppose I could just do what objectively 100% of the target-audience will do, and convert it into an upscaled version of M. Bison after the season... hmm. No! I'm talking myself into it! Curse you, me!

Exactly... I'd have to take a black marker pen to the set to finish off edging the belt properly. Looks like they messed up the printing as it is.

Now we know who ate all the cookies!

By in Portugal,

No winter village addition this year?? Or are they directing us to the huge and expensive Hogsmeade Village??

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The upscaled Santa looks great. The gingerbread house, not particularly good compared to the previous little display ones or bigger winter village ones. This looks like it is trying to be a playset but isn't particularly good inside.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I feel like upscaled santa might sell quite well with the normies

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love that picture of Kaiju Santa about to crush the gingerbread house.

Gravatar
By in United States,

These look cool, but I wonder why 40809 is a regular set and not a GWP? Did they make the model too large and change their minds? As a regular set, it's pretty uninteresting; I wouldn't buy it separately.
I guess this means whatever we do get as GWPs this winter will be unimpressive, unimaginative tripe. So the usual.

Your fandom is Lego. You really aren't the cultured edgelord you might think yourself to be.

Gravatar

I'll buy the first two I like them!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice shaping with Santa’s beard.
These will pair nicely with Ginger-AT-AT-Bread.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think the gingerbread house is excellent. This will be the first time I buy one of these explicitly "seasonal" sets outside of the occasional advent calendar, although the sleigh which is retiring this year has consistently tempted me... oh dear.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I do love the Up-Scaled MiniFigures... the only decision is whether to just buy one for myself and lend it to my dad or buy him his own....

Santa's sleigh is awesome. Since I own it, it's become the center piece of my Winter Village.

I also like the Gingerbread House. It's not incredibly special, and I would've liked if they included a proper Mrs. Claus in this set, an elf, or one of the gingerbread minifigs, but it's cute and christmassy nonetheless.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the snowman's glasses. At first glance, I thought those were https://brickset.com/parts/design-35365, but upon closer inspection, I see that they're https://brickset.com/parts/design-35485. Still pretty cute.

That one I'll definitely be getting. Santa... I'm not sure. The belt issue that @Boettner_Builds is sort of turning me off, even if I can see and understand why they probably did that.

Crying out for some nice stickers.

By in Netherlands,

Big Santa looks great for most part, particularly the beard....but I can't help but feel that the combination of printed and brick built belt and that white stuff (my English is failing me here....) ruins it all. Guess they wanted to keep the flat printed minifig torso look, but it just doesn't work here. And they didn't stick to that anyway with 40504 either, so why now?

Later. Not sure why they didn't announce it here, but I guess Winter Village is deserving of its own Press Release instead of sharing it with the other Seasonal sets? I think it's meant to be a train or something this year but I may be misremembering.

Direct to Consumer sets (like Winter Village sets, or Modular Buildings, or UCS Star Wars sets) almost always get their own announcements/press releases, unlike smaller sets like these that are typically revealed somewhat unceremoniously when Lego.com updates at the start of the month. So I wouldn't worry.

Wide belt loops at the corners. You can see that the belt continues under the arm, but only the buckle section is printed, while the rest is brickbuilt. Corners are castle slopes, so there’s a wide patch that would need print to show more belt.

By in New Zealand,

All three are on my to buy list. :)

A bit of trimmed black insulation tape will fix the Santa belt issue.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

The up-scaled Santa looks exactly like the minifigure!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Giant Santa is great. The gingerbread looks a lot better open than closed. It's not at the free-99 level 40139.

The ornaments look a bit goofy. May wait for the inevitable clearance for those.

Self-made stickers! Good idea!

Love the upscaled Santa minifig. Will definitely be buying that, maybe in multiples.

But we need a Johnny Thunder scaled minifig. I've been waiting for that for 2 years now since they started doing these.

Or a piece of black electrical tape!

Gravatar
By in United States,

When they do a giant Halloween minifigure, I'm in. Maybe even a giant skeleton minifigure!

I also feel like the target for the gingerbread house. It's the perfect little model for LEGO's gingerbread people. I love that it can unfold for a display of two houses in a street while also being a charming little single house. I'll just chuck Santa out and omit the mail sticker on the door.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's odd that we have a normal flesh-and-blood Santa living in the Gingerbread House rather than a gingerbread person. Does he plan to lure in children to cook and eat?

Because of the parts used.

I love that gingerbread house. That's a day-one purchase.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

It seems this year is going to be better then last year when it comes to Christmas sets. I already added the gingerbread AT-AT to my wish list and now the festive gingerbread house.
I am still not sure about the santa giant minifig and I will have to think about it.
Hope we will seen get to see the winter village set fo 2025 wich is rumored to be a train (once again).
And let's hope on a good Christmas GWP .

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Santa should be a good display model and I like the pose-able motion. The fold out gingerbread house is the best way to display, although missing a Christmas tree as the green ice-cream scoop doesn't really work at mini-fig scale.

You're inferring a lot from my use of the word normies. You think I consider myself to be better than the normal people who just see it in a shop and buy it because they like it? You and I are the freaks commenting on an announcement article for a large brick built version of a toy santa minifigure that we're probably not even going to buy!
And you're calling me an edgelord? In what way am I trying to be edgy? You're spending too much time on the internet if you're calling someone an edgelord and attaching that much baggage to the word 'normies'

@Huw maybe there should be a tag for Up-Scaled Minifigures. I collect them and it would be easier to spot the ones I missed this way.

My bad, there is one already :)

Last edit : 40767, 40504 and 76393 are missing the tag.

Santa is great. The gingerbread house rules the wave - so much fun play to be had with that. I really appreciate that it can open up to display two buildings together. I was really tempted by the gingerbreat AT-AT but the house wins on value.

Hopefully it is being announced separately since they've been categorized as Icon sets in the past. Not technically seasonal.

By in United States,

I need that giant Santa to attack my town, in classic '50s B-movie / Godzilla fashion. I'll either call it 'Attack of the 50-foot Santa Claus', or 'Santa Claus is coming to town'. The tagline for this would be something like:
'He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake, so you better be good for goodness sake - or ELSE!'

(And no, this wouldn't be the first Sci-fi film from that era to feature Santa! There really was a film about Santa Vs. Martians from the '50s, and it was about as bad as one could expect.)

Oh, and I want to add another floor to the gingerbread house. It almost looks like a stereotypical English rowhouse if you replace the gingerbread-related stuff with regular parts.

I certainly hope that it’s gonna be available anywhere, but if that’s not the case, we should delegate some people of the BS community to make a trip to Denmark.
Or it’s gonna be the reason for my first visit there!

Unless you're talking about a different tag from https://brickset.com/sets/tag-6X-Scale-Minifigure, no, they're not.

As a longtime Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan, I'm well aware of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. "You spell it S-A-N-T-A C-L-A-U-S, hooray for Santy Claus!"

I will buy the house...it is so nice!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If I had more space for storage I’d definitely want the upscaled Father Christmas (although my partner has registered a strong objection on the basis of Mrs Claus’ absence and is not interested in my arguments that a lone Father Christmas is a grand statement against American cultural imperialism, possibly because it’s obvious when I’m making shit up). But as tis the little adorable gingerbread house and the bigger adorable gingerbread AT-AT, not to mention my longstanding longing for the soon-to-be-retired sleigh kit (which I may or may not talk myself into before it goes) and the old already-retired Winter Village much bigger gingerbread house (I poke ebay occasionally), are already going to tax my seasonal decorations storage limits sadly, so I suppose I will have to let domestic harmony win this time.
