Brickipedia has posted a list with official images of the Duplo set line-up for 2015. The Sofia the First sets seem to be a new license, and they also seem to have thrown in every Disney princess they could in 10596. There also seems to be a ridiculously oversized milk bottle in 10585. Of course Duplo isn't as interesting as other themes so stay tuned for more new set images!

I first promised my daughter that Sofia the First DUPLO was coming soon a long time ago. I am glad LEGO hasn't made a liar out of me. I don't know what I was expecting, but I'm a bit disappointed when I compare them to the Jake and the Neverland Pirate sets, but the Sofia stories (there's character growth in each episode) are much more complex than the Jake (every episode follows the same basic plot of beating Hook and getting doubloons), so I guess it's harder to translate Sofia in to sets. The stable set recalls a specific episode, and it makes me wonder "why that episode and not this one" and the castle set leaves me wondering were King Roland, Queen Miranda, and James are. I know that getting those figures was a slim chance, but seeing the castle without them is odd. I think a set with Cedric, the series's goof-of-a-villian, would have been a smart choice, but I guess little girl's don't really care to play with a goof-of-a-villian. Sofia the First is just a difficult translation to DUPLO.

10596 seems to be rehashing past DUPLO Disney Princess sets.

And don't forget those Bionicle images Just2Good revealed...

Good grief, another Pixar Cars set? Unless you have the first releases that is not worth it.

Most of these sets are too educational or princess-themed for my taste. The mother with baby is a definite buy. The others not so.

Hey, some of us rather like Duplo, Meiko! More interesting than Bionicle in my book.

Disney sets are adorable but I still wish we got the princesses in standard minifigure format not just mini doll and duplo

By in Taiwan,

Pretty nice to see another Junior star in Duplo theme, hopefully Sofia and Peter Pan could be in System sets in the future. But I have to say those printed wings are abit too lazy.

And 10596 seems to be a big disaster. Despite Sofia's entering, we haven't seen other "classic princess's" like Pocahontas in this franchise and it's not really based on a long-length crossover film. Hopefully it doesn't mean future System sets would end up like this.

Duplo was the first Lego product I owned and I think I'm not alone with that. I had a huge bin type of thing full with it. Sadly my Mum gave it away (lots of tears when I discovered this). Because of this grief (I'm serious here) I bought myself a Duplo train set a couple of years ago and some other smaller ones. I like the set with the purple horse-pegasus thingy but I don't have the money to buy it with all the supposedly great sets coming next year (Pirates e.g.).

So yeah, definitely Duplo is interesting for me, more than Bionicle and *gasp* even more than Star Wars, haha.

"Of course Duplo isn't as interesting as other themes..."

I think that's up to the individual to decide, don't you?

Some nice sets, shame no further Jake sets but I guess they've done every character and set but we could have done with a Smee

@richselby, Lego91, and woodwardiocom: Pardon how I phrased that then. What I meant was there was less for me to talk about in a news post for Duplo compared to some other themes. I meant no offense to those who are interested in Duplo. :)

@Meiko,
Thank you! That is much better!!! The general rule that seems to work on LEGO forums is that whatever you INTENSELY DISLIKE, somebody else ADORES! That way we don't have to hear about people hating this and that when those are our favorite themes. As my Mom so aptly put it, if you don't have anything nice to say about a theme you don't collect, close your trap and let the rest of us enjoy it. (Thus, I have NEVER said anything horrible about Star Wars even though I often have been tempted!) DUPLO rocks in my books!

Sofia the First is a Disney Junior cartoon, so could probably be considered an expansion of the previous license deal that gave the Jake and the Neverland Pirates sets (another Disney Junior cartoon), and just as part of the broader Disney partnership. I'm a little disappointed in the stable set as Minimus (the flying pony) just looks too big. Part of his character is that he's much shorter than all of the other horses and has problems with self-esteem before he is encouraged by Sofia. Disclaimer - I'm not just randomly watching little girl cartoons - as with ericjohn above I've got a 2.5 year old daughter who is obsessed with Sofia, so I'll definitely plan on getting her the castle set. She's also really into Doc McStuffins, so, LEGO, if you're listening and looking for another Disney Junior show to base a couple of sets on, that one would be appreciated in my household. :)

Holy cow that's a giant bottle. That kid must be really thirsty. It's not actually a new piece, though, as it was in a set this year.

If there's one thing watching my daughter play with her Duplo has taught me, it's that there's a *lot* more going on there than most adults think. For example, she discovered that the round door part (http://brickset.com/parts/design-31191) and the cupcake part (http://brickset.com/parts/design-98220) fit together, despite being ostensibly unrelated parts. I have also been unable to figure out how they mold the cupcake parts, given that the "random" swirls on, for example, 4644204, are *identical* between two parts.
So, while there may seem to be less to talk about, I think you'd be surprised!

My understanding is that Duplo and Lego are in some way compatible, rather than just similar in technique while different in scale. Yet when I bought a Duplo zoo set, hoping to find a use in my MOCs for the supersized fish piece, I couldn't think of any Lego-scale clip or connector that would work with the fish. Could some Duplo fan point me to a site or blog that explains in more detail the relationship between the two systems? Thank you!
