City Advent Calendar - Day 23

Posted by ,

Yesterday's toy train was a fun model, although not really what I expected after Mrs. Claus, so I wonder whether we will build something more closely associated with the figures today.

Let's open the penultimate door and see...

Sleds are another frequent item in City Advent Calendars, which makes sense because they can be great for play. This example makes lovely use of colour, quite similar to the food trolley from a couple of days ago. There is room to seat a minifigure and the moveable handle looks superb on the front, but I wish the runners were a bit longer than the actual sled.

Overall - This is a decent little sled and I like its colours, but the runners look awkward to me.

Aww! And you can seat a babyfig in the front, too!

That was last year. No babies this year, and the two pets require a 1x2 stud pattern to attach. This year, the options include the alien, the alien plush, the polar bear plush, or the wrapped present (except that last one gets awkward because the tree kid can’t sit down, and therefore can’t actually ride the sled with the present on the jumper plate).

There's an easy way the runners could have been made longer, too. Just rotate both one hundred eighty degrees, then put another https://brickset.com/parts/6337403/mini-handle between them.

But the baby's the only one who'd be able to hold on to the bar. That sounds hazardous in the case of an accident.

By in Netherlands,

Let's not forget that Mrs. Claus can't even sit down on this fabulous Sledway. She's effectively immortal though, right?

The alien copilot helps another ship to fly again!

@TheOtherMike:
Babies can’t hold the handle! Babies can only hold hatpins. And clips can hold babies.

That makes this sled even more dangerous!

Would this make it a one stud open sleigh?

Time for the sleigh.

The Disney sleigh had the runners turned around, but didn't have the same runner part in the middle which looks odd.

There are three studs.

I’m going to have to concur.
