Minecraft Advent Calendar - Day 2

Posted by ,

Yesterday's Alex minifigure was an enjoyable start for the LEGO Minecraft Advent Calendar. Hopefully it can keep up the momentum and give us another exceptional gift today!

Let's open the second door...

This tree model is not exactly what I had in mind. That said, it's reasonable enough, and of course it would be helpful for Alex to gather materials from it!

An axe is included, and the tree can be taken apart in segments, as if being chopped down.

Overall - 3.0 - A fine effort, but not very exciting. A good accessory and slight seasonal connection with the snow saves this day for me!

Maybe I just don't get it. But, this looks like the
worst advent calendar day ever.

Dreadflipper is coming for/with that axe! The rampage continues!!

Well, you're not alone!

I'll definitely agree that this is a letdown after yesterday's.

By in Netherlands,

It looks like someone has stolen most of the foliage. Or maybe it's supposed to be like a candy cane with the striping?

I would just put the foliage in the middle despite that not being in-system in Minecraft. Because it looks really weird.

Good thing it comes with an axe you can use to put it out of its misery.

Okay, that’s funny.

By in United Kingdom,

I’m wondering how much the ensuing days will be able to mix and match with this one, given building is the whole point of both Lego and Minecraft

Man, the Hulk's seen better days.

Are you sure you made it correctly? :-)

By in United States,

Counterargument: this build is appropriate for a calendar that progresses each day given the very first thing you do after entering the game is to find a tree and get wood. The fact that it's got 2x2 tiles with central studs makes it so the tree can be broken into blocks like the game. It's not the most visually exciting build but certainly far from awful, and the iron axe is a nice touch.

This is what happens to anyone who dares oppose Dreadflipper...

My son was excited to see a Minecraft calendar. I bought him a city one looking at the contents of this… maybe these daily reviews will show me I was mistaken but so far, not.

I have the calendar, and can confirm that this is the correct build.

By in Australia,

See, this is exactly what I was expecting from the Minecraft calendar. The sets are blocky with a unique style (which is fine. I don't care much for the style so I haven't bought any), and we can reasonably assume the rest of the calendar is going to look similar.

I'm a bit disappointed, but it does make some sense, at least... really hoping it's the worst day we'll see.
