Minecraft Advent Calendar - Day 17

Posted by ,

The last two days of the LEGO Minecraft Advent Calendar have been incredible, so I expect another impressive result today!

Will I be disappointed?

Fortunately I'm not, although this gift is not quite as perfect. We receive a Stray and bin of snowballs behind the seventeenth door.

The same Stray variant with diamond armor also appears in 21277 The Pickaxe Mine, but it is still good to have and looks great. He also includes a bow, which is useful. Given that Strays normally spawn in snowy areas, this guy definitely makes sense to include!

The bin of snowballs is nothing to write home about…

Overall - 4.0 - A cool and uncommon hostile mob, but the accompanying item leaves something to be desired.

It's a bit of a shame it doesn't come with the fabric tattered cloak

Another update that’s left me a bit lost; what’s the difference between a skeleton and a stray?

One is white, the other is grey.

The new calendar proceeds apace,
And brings a skeleton in mostly greys.
A nonplussed expression on its face,
Throwing snow as through a haze.
While those snowballs may wound a blaze,
Or knock back players to provide some space,
I am mired in ancient ways
And say -- "man, Ultron's seen better days".

The calendar’s setting a steady pace
And every gift will have it’s place
In my giant Lego case
And vanish there without a trace.

Rodents of incredible size? I don't think they really exist.

Well, of course those exist, dudebro. Everyone knows that!! It's the incredibly-sized that are doubtful.

I can't provide you with the perfect poetry of other commentors, but I can tell you that a Stray is a snow-biome exclusive skeleton type that uses Enchanted Arrows with the Slowness effect. They are similar to their swamp-biome cousins (Bogged) but those have the Poison effect.

By in Canada,

Frozen boneman is nice, but just reminds me of how the Drowned and Bogged are the wrong way around - a bog or swamp would preserve the flesh, while an ocean or river would rot and decay until there is nothing left on the bone.

Strays are skeleton variants that spawn in cold biomes. They shoot arrows of Slowness instead of normal arrows.

See? A-okay!

Thank you for the answers, much appreciated.

The impromptu poetry slam was also appreciated but if I thanked everyone involved in that we’d be here a while :D
