Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 12
Posted by CapnRex101,B2EMO's arrival on day eleven was a highlight of the Star Wars Advent Calendar so far and I hope for another appealing droid today, though it will be hard to equal B2EMO.
Nonetheless, let's see how close we get...
BD explorer droids can definitely rival B2EMO for cuteness and this little figure is highly detailed, considering its size. BD-72 was introduced in 75325 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter and I am pleased to see the droid available again, with its blue highlights. However, I wish this opportunity had been taken to revisit BD-1. Cal Kestis debuted in 75394 Imperial Star Destroyer last year and this would have been the place to include his droid.
Overall - BD-72 is excellent, although I think BD-1 would have been even better.

Brian: You built a robot? This is pathetic, Stewie. You really must be desperate for friends.
Stewie: Oh, I'm desperate? Lyle, access Brian's phone. Look at that, you only have four contacts. And... oh, my God, you downloaded the Dunkin' Donuts app? And who Shazams the Beatles?
Brian: Whatever. Have fun with your little robot.
Disney: 3/5p
Friends: Why are there snail shells in the hot chocolate? 3.5/5p
Minecraft: Swamp monster! 4.5/5p
Harry Potter: 4/5p
Star Wars: 3.5/5p
Today, I bought the City AC (with a discount of about 55%), for next year!
should have been BD-1. I wish there were more Jedi: fallen order/survivor sets in general
I didn’t get 75325 or 75335, so I’m very happy with this. These little guys are so cute!

I didn't realize BD-1 and BD-70 were different characters and now I'm annoyed I can't put this with my Cal Kestis minifigure.
Should have been two parts. Maybe more.

In the game you can deck BD-1 in multiple skins. Just make this one of those BD-1 skins and voila!
This type of droid reminds me of the ones Disney sometimes has in the parks to train NVidia's algorhythms
Day 12:
0 points (+ 21 from yesterday = 21): Dy - First gift in years I actually find to be ugly!
1 (+ 31 = 32): Ct - If you have little amout of content (see way below), you better make it exciting.
2 (+ 27 = 29): Fr - logical addon to yesterday's gift.
3 (+17 = 20): MC - Because I like the trident, the trans-blue plate and some parts of the minifig.
4 (+32 = 36): HP - I like the idea that this special bottle is minifg size! =D
5 (+36 = 41): SW - I suspect not everybody likes the fact that it's a 1-small-piece character again, but it's so good! And like so many others, I wish it was BD-1, as I already have one BD-72.
BE DE BE DE!
I have 3 advent calenders: City, Minecraft and Star Wars.
Today I didn't even bother to open the City and SW bags. Meanwhile, the quality of Minecraft remains superb.
Oh yeah, a great Droid.

Agreed! I’m very pleased with it, too. It is adorable and I like how a stud can be attached to its back.
Bit of a wild swing coming after B2EM0 yesterday: that was all brick-built, not even a print--and this is a single mold barely demonstrating LEGO multi-purpose-ivity. I like overcorrecting in this direction more than the other one where characters (which is what droids are) are concerned, but it feels wild back to back.

Exactly, you can absolutely use this as BD-1. The in-game skin is called "Blue Leader." In fact, I did a straight color swap on 75335 replacing red with blue for that look.
Tired: We should've gotten BD-1 today
Wired: We did get BD-1 in his finest livery
Much as it's a cute character, this is a deeply disappointing day. 1 single, small part. Nothing to build at all. IMO, the worst day so far for SWAC.
It should've been BD-1. I want him for my Cal but he is so expensive for a single piece.

Only very occasionally would I not even bother to open the bag. The last time I did it was the original Avengers A/C where Iron Man's trans blue power effects was Day 2. The contents of that bag had more plastic than Day 1 and Day 12 of this year's offerings combined. Now, Day 1, Day 12, and the crate of three nonconnecting droid parts remain in their bag. And we are only halfway in.

I stopped opening the bags entirely once they started shipping in the collapsible cardboard trays. I store all my AC models in the boxes, so those made it too easy to lose parts. Now I just build them in the bag. Or in the case of two SWAC days and one HPAC day, I roll up the bag and put it back.
Emperor Palpatine:-"let the hate flow through you". Sums up how I feel about this years Advent calendar!!!!
Again… glad to have the figure, but it would have been nice to have *anything* to build with it… My wife (and sometimes son) are doing this calendar together, and dumping out a bag with a single element doesn’t exactly scream “Aren’t you glad we’re doing this together?”

One person opens the door, another pulls the bag out, and the last one opens the bag.
Seriously what is there to get excited about? Its one little plastic trinket that cost them a nickel. Wake up.

Day 1 was the same, although there it was the debut of the character (and his whole species) as well as of the LEGO part mold. On the other hand, it’s a droid, which to me boosts the appeal of this figure over Babu Frik, so it’s fine. But I do really think both characters should have come with some sort of accessory or something.
