75452 BB-8 has been announced ahead of its release on January 1st, continuing the series of brick-built droids.
This version of BB-8 is smaller than its 2017 precursor, 75187 BB-8, containing 569 pieces. The price of £79.99, $89.99 or €89.99 therefore seems quite expensive to me, but the model seems to include plenty of functions. Also, I expect it to be in scale with 75379 R2-D2 and 75398 C-3PO.

Dial up the cuteness to the max with this head-spinning LEGO Star Wars BB-8 Astromech Droid building toy for kids. Use LEGO bricks to capture authentic details of the iconic droid, as seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Move BB-8 across a flat surface to make his head spin around in random directions. Open the hatch on BB-8’s body to reveal a “burner arm”, like the one he used to give Finn a 'thumbs-up'. $90 is a joke, and so is the current Lego company, especially regarding the recent Bricklink News.
Another nice addition to the buildable characters line. Not a fan of the sequels, i've only watched them once or twice so I don't feel any connection to the character but overall a nice build.
The head is a lot smoother than the previous, but I don't think the body work is as good.
Glad they finally added BB-8 to the new buildable character line.
Wasn't a fan of this build at first, but after seeing the designer reveal it has grown on me. Already have 75187 though (and I like that one more), so probably not planning on buying this one (the price is atrocious, anyway). Great to see more Sequel sets (love the Kylo Ren box art).

I liked Episode VII enough to buy it on Blu-Ray (even if I have called it The Force Remakens), so while I'd much rather have 75379 than this, I think I might prefer this to 75398. What can I say, I'm a sucker for astromechs. Besides, I like the functions.

Painfully bad. Not only an ugly rendition but laughably (insultingly) priced. Compare with 71860 Lloyd's Titan Mech - well over double the number of pieces but costs only 50% more. Their pricing model is nonsensical.

Geez…what happened? Chopper is $100 with 1039 parts…and that was just released in May.
It will be interesting to consult the building instructions for this. I'm pretty sure there will be some gems as to how to do angled connections with near perfect fit. Other than that, I'm not the target audience for this so, I'll just keep it at that.
Hmm, with those 'corner solutions' (the round 4x4 plates everywhere) it looks to me more -seen from one side- like a (mechanical) bug or tortoise now, sitting up, having been fed too much and now it can't get back up on its feet...
If they ever release a version at this scale of BB-9E I hope it has more of a ball shaped body than this little bugger. But that's just my honest opinion.

As far as buildable BB-8 is concerned, I'm glad to have both 75187 and 40288 !
Considering 75434 K-2SO is also the same price and came out this year this is an absolute joke.
Not sure this is an improvement on 75187 . The seemingly flat bottom doesn't impress me. Price is poor.
Lego/Bricklink is making the world a more isolated place, sad. Apparently, Lego doesn't understand that BB8 and the Earth are both round.

Yes, when I first saw the picture on the front page, I thought someone had *actually* blown it open with a firecracker - maybe as a comment to the upcoming Bricklink stink.
Anyone else see the Solid Brix video that Lego also revealed the midi scale AT-AT and Venator?
I like how the head is shaped, but the 4x4 round plates at the corners are a real eyesore. For that price, I would expect something that looks more elegant. It's especially stark when you think about how smooth R2-D2's body was; I can't imagine it looking good if these two sets were displayed side-by-side. Normally, I'm able to overlook most issues and enjoy sets for what they are, but I just can't look past those corners, so that is saying something.
This one is fine. But the original was one of the greatest (and most out-of-nowhere, where-the-hell-did-that-come-from) LEGO builds of all time. I’ll die on that hill. It blew me away.

I can't be the only one who's not a fan of January waves barely having any playscale sets anymore? Only 2 in 2025 (ARC & Ahsoka fighters) and now, at least from what we've heard so far, only 3 in 2026 (Vanth speeder, Mando speeder, battle pack)…
Eh, cool if you want it to go with R2-D2 and C-3PO, but I liked that 75187 looked more Lego-y.
