If you're looking for a way to display your 10356 Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D more elegantly than with the supplied stand, Unique Display has a number of solutions.
The UK-based company offers both horizontal and vertical display stands that accommodate the starship and its crew, and optionally the shuttle as well, as well as display cases for displaying it horizontally or vertically. The cases can be purchased with an optional printed background, showing a Borg Cube or a starbase.

The horizontal stand looks good. I’m holding out for a wall-mount - it’s a very heavy model though…
If I had 10356, I would be sorely tempted by this... is what I was about to post, until I remembered the saucer separation function.

These look great. I've just ordered the vertical stand (to the UK) - £9.99 for shipping which I hop will cover any incurred fees!

Thanks for the heads-up I was considering buyiong this but this is exactly what I was worried about..

$62 shipping for a $35 stand... no thanks!
Better at Wicked Brick for a similar stand (different set)... about $42. Still not great though.
Any good US based shops offering something similar? This is exactly what I've been looking for.

What's that little ship next to the Enterprise? It didn't come with my set and I ordered hours after the sale went live. ;o)
It occurs to me that it could be cool if a brick-built phaser beam could be inserted between the Enterprise and the backdrop. I'm speciffically thinking of the Borg one. "Mr. Worf! Fire!"

You can display it next to my Fellbeast. I always say: 'There's plenty of display space for the sets Lego doesn't want to sell me.'
I was totally sold on the horizontal stand. $41 to give the ship such a striking pose and save space, really felt worth $41.
Price with shipping to US? $103. *cries*
I’m going to buy the stand and no set out of spite.

The horizontal stand with the saucer load bearing point would have me worried about long term stress on the connections.
