Random minifig of the day: sw0125
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is sw0125 Dwarf Spider Droid - Sand Blue Dome, a Star Wars figure that came in one set, 7258 Wookiee Attack, released during 2005.
Our members collectively own a total of 4,903 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $109.60.

Wow, RSotD is early toda…um…
This is not a minifigure
Not a repeat, but it's not the first spider droid to be RMotD, either: https://brickset.com/article/106210/random-minifig-of-the-day-sw0965 Incidentally, why are spider droids allowed to be minifigures, when Lotso isn't? (Yes, I'm still salty about that.) "Oh, but Lotso's an animal!" Lotso was also an actual character! Remove Lotso from Toy Story 3, and you have no major antagonist. Remove spider droids from Episode III, and you have a little less cannon fodder.

"Brick Built" Minifigure
It’s not accurate, but I do love the blue color scheme on this one.
That first wave of Revenge of the Sith sets was so good.
Yeah, I'm drawing a line here. This isn't a minifigure.
It’s a classic but not a minifigure
I like to call these “brick built minifigure scale figures”. I consider them part of my minifigure collection and play/display them along with all of my mini-figs. I ain’t Wuher. Droids are welcome here!
Not a minifig
I wonder what the biggest chunk-of-a-set is considered a minifig.
If Siddely from Cars 2 https://brickset.com/minifigs/crs080/siddeley-without-stickers is considered a minifigure, then shouldn't autonomous machines -at minifigure scale- like Hailfire droids 75085 be considered minifigures as well? I mean, where's the line drawn?

No, you do make a good point.
I consider the original Groot (who was entirely brick-built, in the first GotG line) a minifigure, at least, a figure in his own right.
It really is quite a subjective call.
I’m normally fairly open-minded about what pops up in RMotD, normally got no problem with the brick built figures or minidolls that other people object to…
…but this one feels like a stretch too far even for me
No, YOU'RE not a minifigure!

Whether a brick-built construction is/isn't a figure could indeed be subjective especially if it isn't based on an existing IP character.
However, whether a figure is/isn't a minifigure is entirely objective: it's defined by law. If a figure uses at least two of the three components (head, torso, legs) from the minifigure patent to represent a humanoid, it's a minifigure. If not, it isn't. So brick-built Groot is a figure, but not a minifigure. By contrast, this figure https://brickset.com/minifigs/sh0743/groot-teen-groot-dark-tan is a Groot minifigure for example.

Don't tell anyone, but I am.
Great fig of the thing, especially for the time! I love the trans neon orange eyes!

The new MTT 75435 or 75233 Droid Gunship should count too.
The wookie warriors that came with this set are the real mini-figures, and a far more interesting RSOD https://brickset.com/article/34020
This is a fun set with great colors. I love mine and 7260. Surprised they never remade these.
