After what seems like ages since they were revealed, the first three Pokémon sets are now available at LEGO.com worldwide.

If you're quick to place your order for 72153 Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise, pictured, you'll receive the highly desirable 40892 Kanto Region Badge Collection as a gift with purchase.

However, it is currently on back order until 10th March in Europe and sold out in Australia/NZ. The GWP is still available, though.

By in United Kingdom,

Looks like I've been able to get the Poke Centre and Kanto Badge collection.

Be interesting to see how long those last before all the PokeScalpers get their hands on them and sell them on eBay.

By in United Kingdom,

Holy crap, that was mental, got the set, the GWP, the Insiders item and got another GWP for spending £160. This offer is going to be sold out within 2-4 hours I reckon.

By in Australia,

So........ the Poke Centre has been and gone in Australia? I checked at 3am, 8am and now and nothing?
I guess it's inflated after market prices then.

Yep no where to be found: great ??

By in United States,

I was so excited when LEGO announced they would be making Pokémon sets until I saw the prices. I may get one of the future sets, if they don’t cost an arm and a leg.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lots of 40892 on eBay. People are bidding these up to $200 for an auction ending tomorrow. Also the 40911 is selling for $100 or so. If you just want the big 3 Pokemon display, it will cost about $400 net if you sell the free stuff.

Some fool already paid $1500 for 72153 and 40862 in the US.

I've been a Pokemon fan since the beginning. None of these sets interest me.

Good luck to everyone and may all scalper computers crash.

Now to decide if I want to brave the queue to get 72151 and 40911 with it.

Imagine wanting such a ridiculously overpriced set, couldn't be my broke ass :'-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Damn. Instant sellout for the big one. I checked at 8:54 & was still marked “Coming Soon.” Checked again at 8:58…”Out of stock.”

Weird, I can't find the Poke Center in the rewards section at all.

Ah, you were right! Tried a few times and it showed up. Took a few more refreshes before I got the code.

Apparently there's been "technical issues" with the Pokémon Centre availability here. Hopefully they have it up soon, I remember there being issues with 40787 when it was supposed to launch alongside 72037

Still nothing in Australia. When I search the set number it says not currently available. So not sold out or out of stock but not currently available?

By in Sweden,

The big one is $800 in Sweden and still on back order.
People must have calculated their tax returns in advance.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I got an Insiders Pokemon Centre no problem. I have no interest in it but it has to be worth more than the £16 or so in points that it costs when flipped.

By in Hungary,

I think the Lego management thinks we are stupid. This is unworthy. Lego almost went bankrupt in 2003-2004. These overpricings justify the boom in the Chinese copy market. And the Chinese are right! They laugh a lot that Lego will hardly sell at such prices and on the other hand they can sell cheap but high quality copies for more. Lego will not come to their senses because they are greedy and power hungry. And the Lego team is getting stupider and stupider.....

By in Germany,

Funny, just yesterday our younger daughter brought me her collection of Pokémon cards since she said she was no longer interested. She told me that I could sell them or throw them away, my choice.
I have zero clue whether any of them are worth anything, and don't really have a lot of inclination to look them all up. Maybe I just store them somewhere until the future grandchildren might be interested.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Poke a what... never heard of it. What I am very pleased about is that the 30734 Mini F1 ACADEMY Car is a freeby with quite a few sets and not just 77258 as I had feared (having pre-ordered 77258 a while ago)

Or you could take them to a game store that sells individual TCG cards. I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you which ones are worth something.

My thoughts and reasoning exactly. Hopefully it’ll be worth at least 5 times, but we’ll see how much I actually make of that. What else do I have to spend my points on these days.

Yeah, one should ask around regarding what stores will give you something resembling what the cards are worth. Of course, the store isn't going to give you top dollar for them, because that's not how a reseller makes money.

People are broke because they are buying LEGO sillypants.

Going close to bankruptcy was nothing to do with high prices, if anything it was the opposite. They were spending too much on highly specialised parts and electronics with little control on their spend (and not charging enough for them.)

And LEGO does sell high priced sets like this one, to many customers. I don't know where you get the idea that they will hardly sell. Just look at the money spent on BDP sets, there are large numbers of buyers willing to pay many $100s for sets these days.

And yes, Chinese companies can copy other people's work using high quality bricks, without needing to pay for designers or pay anything to the IP holder. But that is partly because they don't pay for designers, or the IP holder, and also don't need the advertising and have little need for staff in the West.

Why spend it on discounts though, when you can buy something with the points and then get a larger cash sale than the discount would have been?

And in this case, it might actually be a case of doing the buyer a favour. As this is not a retail set they cannot buy it direct and, unless they are also a fairly big LEGO fan, they might not have enough points themselves to get it. They would have had to already have spent £300 with LEGO in the past to have enough points, and then more to order to get the reward.

By in Canada,

After several refreshes, it seems that 40911 is not available here anymore (or at the moment at least). I downloaded the part list and could get the set for about CAD$36 directly from Lego (C$33 but there were 11 parts missing). My FOMO-meter is barely pinging so I guess it's not that big a deal.

I saw a review from JayBrickBlog and he showed 13 different version of these stores through the ages/games. Since Lego will most likely milk the bejesus out of this theme, I expect that this will become the X-Wing/Millenium Falcon of the Pokemon line (i.e. we will see many version of this store over the next few years).

To be honest I don't think there are any such stores here. At least not anywhere near where we live.

But it doesn't matter. I don't think there will be many expensive or particularly rare ones among those we have anyway.

I usually take between 25% and half off for my PaB orders, but otherwise I save them for things like these. If I can sell them for double or triple what the points are worth, that’s a no-brainer.

In the U.S., there won’t be any expectations for a discount as exclusives have been mostly RRP now for years. So, you just go for 2x points and GWPs. My best bet was always damaged boxes but my local store stopped putting them out and instead now ships them off to a different store for centralized sales. No idea why. It stinks.

Because exclusive sets generally don't get discounts. I have bought this set at RRP, but will leave the other Pokemon sets to be discounted at other retailers.
