72050 Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8

$179.99 / £159.99 / €179.99
Available at LEGO.com from 1st April, or for pre-order now

LEGO Mario Kart levels up Super Mario line-up with Luigi and the first-ever large-scale Mach 8 Kart set

Start your engines! The LEGO Group today revealed the LEGO Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8 (72050), the latest addition to the line-up of LEGO Super Mario products. This highly detailed model is inspired by the beloved Mario Kart series.

Designed for builders aged 18 and up, the set includes 2,234 pieces that bring Luigi and the Mach 8 to fans in brick form. The buildable figure features a poseable head, arms and hands, seated confidently behind the wheel of the first-ever large-scale LEGO brick recreation of the Mach 8 kart.

Builders can display the kart on its stand at dynamic, race-ready angles, capturing the excitement of a Mario Kart showdown mid-drift. For added interactivity, the model can also be removed from its stand and rolled forward. Turning the steering wheel turns the front wheels, and turning the back wheels will spin the flame exhaust, allowing for a playful movement alongside static display.

The Luigi & Mach 8 set is the ideal counterpart for a LEGO Mario Kart – Mario & Standard Kart (72037), sold separately, letting fans create a full head-to-head display of their favourite characters.

The LEGO Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8 (72050) is available for pre-order today (10 March 2026) and will be available for immediate purchase from 1 April 2026 via LEGO.com/Luigi-mach8 and LEGO Stores, priced at £159.99 / €179.99 / $179.99.

By in United States,

What's up with the emphasis on "first-ever large-scale recreation of the Mach 8" blurb, it's repeated more than once as if it's some incredible novelty lol

Needs a option to make him look mad like the famous GIF

By in United States,

They didn't nail the character sculpt/face here quite as well as kart Mario.

By in United States,

Large buildable characters aren't really my thing, but this does look good!

I'll be curious to see if they continue to add more characters to the lineup. Maybe Peach is next?

By in Turkey,

They look so good together with Mario

Love it, looks great.

Happy MAR10 Day, everyone!!

By in United Kingdom,

I'm surprised there's no GWP this time. Would've been nice to have gotten another weapon to go with last year's spiny shell (maybe a banana skin).

Gravatar
By in United States,

It looks great and the price is fair! But the mere fact that the wheels roll shouldn't be treated as a selling point.

He looks very chilled out, which I find endearing.

I was on the fence last time and the only reason I DID NOT get it was because the blue shell was sold out. I would still jump if they brought back the blue shell.

The wheels rolling *is* a selling point, because that's not guaranteed in something marketed as a display item. Potential customers will want to know if it actually rolls like a car or not.

I built the similar Mario and Standard Kart set and put it on display at work for people who aren't AFOLs. The two most common questions I got was "How long did it take to build?" and "Does it roll?"

People smiled with childlike joy when I took it off the stand and let them push it back and forth a few times.

Brick built adjustable eyebrows would have been a real great feature to address this. Pretty easy to do, too.

Looks great!

Luigi's longer arms and legs seem to be more bent than Mario's, which makes me think it might be so you can swap the characters between the two karts. As I expected his moustache is a new piece but he shares Mario's nose mold.

I wonder how well 71426 Piranha Plant fits in the seat?

A great set for display, since we all know Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing.

By in Brazil,

I would love to get that green “L” print, since it’s the first letter of my name and my favorite color.

Interesting, I like this one more than Mario for some reason

Luigi finally got one over on this brother. It might be Mario Day, but Luigi is the star!

I bought some of the letter tiles from 21327 and some SNOT plates to make a nameplate for myself.

I saw "Mach 8" in the title and thought there was a new Speed Racer revival that I hadn't heard about yet.

Now this is podracing!

Costco had the Mario Kart for $99.99. I bit, and will likely do so if this is also marked down to that. Otherwise it's nice but not needed in my collection.

By in France,

why is there a random box full of cables on the picture ?
also I think I like it better than the mario one

Unfortunately, great though the Typewriter tiles are, none of them are green.

Excellent. Have never played Mario Kart but that didn't stop me buying 72037 and it won't stop me buying this!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That lifestyle photo looks a bit like my shelves although much neater.

Crates full of old cables you'll never use again, check.
Old radio that needs to be put somewhere, check.
Rubik's cube (done), check. But why only one?

@CapnRex101: Add link to the database entry for 72050 in the text? (no link to the set)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd much prefer a updated Mach 5, to be honest.

Exactly my first thought. The kart is nice though.

Ah, a custom mustache piece! (different from his brother's custom mustache piece)

Excellent.

By in Croatia,

So, we'll see all the figures, and carts, in this scale?

The blue spiny shell wasn't a GWP. I got one, and haven't bought a single Mario set that wasn't one of the blind packets. BSS was released in the VIP Rewards Center.
