LEGO Toy Story sets announced!
Posted by CapnRex101,Three new Toy Story sets have been announced, featuring large-scale versions of some popular characters from the film series.
43301 Toy Story Slinky Dog Bookends is a clever idea for a set and comes with a minifigure-scale iteration of Slinky Dog, who has not appeared in LEGO form before. However, the highlight for me is 43306 Lotso, which looks excellent for its small size. All three sets will be released on May 1st.

Not that these are bad builds by any means, I love Lotso, but I would have appreciated more minifigure scale playsets for a new Toy Story release. I am sorta tired of buildable characters taking up the Disney line.
"what has LEGO done to me?" -Slink
Pizza Planet looks nice though!
I like the pizza planet rocket and will probably end up getting it, but I really want them to make an updated remake of 7598.
Never thought we’d get a Slinky Dog minifig. That’s pretty cool.
Love the Pizza Planet Alien set. He looks really cute.
There's a certain irony with seeing a set based off kids' toys being marked 18+
Although it makes sense given that the original movie came out in 1995, so a lot of the fanbase has grown up.
Return of normal Toy Story play sets when?
Fs in the chat for Woody’s dual-molded legs. I genuinely don’t understand why we have backsliding on stuff like this and Spider-Man where, after years of consistency, they suddenly take it away.
Am I going to pay $150 for a Slinky Dog minifig? Yes, yes I am.
What do you wanna bet the Lotso fig has a strawberry tile hidden inside as an easter egg?
The buildable characters are cute! I honestly think I like these a lot more than most "minifig-scale" Toy Story sets.
Well I want the Slinky dog minifig, but I don't want the (most likely CAD$200) bookends that goes with it. Hopefully there will be some playsets later where we can get it in a more desirable format.
They are all nicely done but I recently bought the only build-able character I needed 40921.
I think the nose of Lotso should be reddish brown.
Slink looks a little off, but the others look remarkably good IMO.
I bet we'll see more sets for Toy Story 5 this year but it's quite the comparison in terms of product strategy for licensed themes to look at the history of this line: regular minifigure scale sets with tons of custom molds in 2010, juniors sets with much more basic minifigures in 2019, large-scale display items in 2026 but with an elaborate mold for a previous blind spot in the lineup
I would love to have a chat with the Lego box designers because a couple of kits lately have had the Worst Angle for the faces - Slinky Dog looks fine in the pictures where you can see him from the side - and I do not understand why. Surely the goal is to show off the kit.
I like the Pizza Planet rocket ride but while I’m exactly the right age for Buzz Lightyear Action Figure Mania to have been a feature of my peer group - my sibling did get one and was the envy of many - I can’t say the many sequels have left much of the Toy Story shine on. They’re all well-designed kits, just not must-have’s.
Looks like some stickers for the rocket set. Hopefully, a few prints. Either way, probably a Day 1 buy.
Why did they have to include those books? It's so unnecessarily expensive now
The slinky bookends are display pieces that use the gimmick to appear as bookends. I'm not sure they can even hold up that many books and they're huge. I would rather use the space on my shelves for more books. Also for that price I could go to an Antique store & a second-hand bookstore to buy both bookends and a lot of books.
Not to mention kids are aware of Toy Story, and they're making a new movie (unfortunately) so just remake the older playsets for a new generation to enjoy. Also why do all buildable figures have an uncanny valley effect? LEGO found a way to make 3 cute characters into creepy plastic monstrosities.

Because Slinky Dog alone wouldn’t provide enough hold to keep books you put in standing up.
Hey, at least they printed this time the 6x6 semi-circle curved slope unlike with Tomato Head. Alien and Lotso are nice, but the books in the Slinky Dog are superfluous and just a waste of shelf space and just inflate the piece count and price. We got enough fake LEGO books already. A simple buildable Slinky Dog would have been enough.
A1ST ??
TLG/ChatGPT blurbed:
"This dachshund gift-giving idea for dog lovers is a cool choice for a birthday or Christmas..."
It really isn't. I love dogs, but don't ever give me this set. This monstrosity as a gift will spell the end of our friendship, and it might just be the beginning of an exciting new restraining-order between you and my dog. This set is a hate-crime, and ChatGPT should feel bad for writing that blurb.

As evil teddy bears go, I think I still have to give it to 40763.
I really wanted to like the Pizza Planet set but the Alien just looks strange. It's too rectangular.
Slinky's head is a bit rough and him going through the books is not appealing to me. Thankfully he is easy to make normal. Why doesn't Woody have dual-moulded legs in a $150 set when he had them in a $10 set in 2019? The alien is fine but the ride seems like a waste because it isn't really a thing from the movies (like the cake in the Piglet set from this year). Lotso looks okay, a bit too smooth, but it's a shame he probably doesn't scale at all to the other two.

It won't be a minifig though, it will be categorised as an animal like Rex and Hamm and so will never be a random figure of the day here.
Well designed sets and at least 2/3 are very resonably priced, I must still be hallucinating after Swedens win yesterday!
Please tell me this is April Fools...
I want to turn that Claw Alien into a mech with three pilots...
I know some people aren't impressed with it, but I like 43301. I like the touch of being able to separate Slink from the books and just have a Slinky Dog model.

Probably, come to think of it.

"Back in 1995, short-sighted retailer did not order enough dolls to meet demand." On the Toy Story 2 DVD commentary, John Lasseter says, "I love this part. Because it's true!"

If it happened, Day One purchase.
I am tired of every line being taken up by buildable statues with zero to rudimentary articulation, but I quite like how recent statues added so many useful recolored pieces to the parts library and the technique of some shapes like that Pizza Planet Rocket dome top looks decent and useful for MOCs.
Slinky does seem quite overpriced even to me but I am sure that will change once the inventory is known and discounts have hit.
Slinky is one of my favourite Toy Story characters, so it's great to see him get featured when he's previously been excluded from the Lego range; but I think even if I was in more of a Lego-buying phase, I'd be good for large-scale replicas of him. I do, however, love that minifigure-scale one of him, and would be happy to add him to my collection if he came around again later in something cheaper ^^
Lotso appears to be on drugs. Which one you ask?
All of them.
Interested in Slink mini-fig, but will save my money. Not that interested.
The pink bear looks like it could be a decent stand in for a Five nights at Freddy's build
Passing on these, unfortunately. I would like the Slinky Dog if they didn’t add in the bloat of the books - just make it Slinky Dog. The minifigure is perfect but I’m not spending $150 just to get it.
I love everything about the Pizza Planet Ride set but the aliens head looks misshaped like it’s slightly stretched too wide.
Lotso looks just right, but I honestly hate that guy so I wouldn’t buy it. ;-)
Speed Champions RC Car and Pizza Planet Truck when
These fill me with joy.

Woops completely missed that, it was still early in the morning haha. In that case it's nice that they pay homage to some of their earliest shorts this way. Now I kinda want a small buildable tin toy and snow globe
why is the cheapest set the best made one ?

Nice Slinky minifig...the end.
Bookend looks awesome and I'm not even Toy Story fan but 150€ is rip off if you consider stickers and 2 minifigs (woody without dual molded legs).

Well, we *do* already have a lamp and ball. How about a unicycle, too?
I wish Alien was by its self so we could build an army of them lol

Even as a standalone, that would be expensive. I’d go for three, though.
