Toy Story 5 will be released in the summer and has prompted the creation of some new LEGO sets, although none actually based on the new movie, until now.

43304 Blaze's Horse Ranch will be available on May 1st and includes new versions of Woody, Jessie and Bullseye, along with a couple of new animal characters from the upcoming film. This set costs £44.99, $49.99 or €49.99.

I really wish there was a full wave of Toy Story 5 sets, like there was for Toy Story 3 in 2010, but this will have to suffice for now. View more images below...

By in Netherlands,

I hate that price, but by now, that's basically shorthand for saying "I hate [everything that happened in the past year and a half, particularly the fabulously fornicating stupid people whose staggering incompetence caused the events that lead up to] that price".

I do like this set. Decent parts, good minifigures and animals. I'd like to see more new sets in this theme.

By in Finland,

Why are we seeing a worse Woody and Jessie (with no dual-molded legs) than 7 years ago in 2019, and a worse Bullseye (no hoof or ear printing) than 16 years ago in 2010?

4+ sets always feel grotesquely overpriced, but they're usually filled with lots of exclusive bulky parts that are easy for small hands to manipulate. All I'm really seeing here is the two 4+ bases used as the floor of the barn. I'm sure bringing the various Bullseye molds back after 16 years didn't help, and they probably scrapped the molds for the Woody and Jessie hat/hair combos after TS4, but otherwise I'm just not seeing any new molds or special 4+ molds. And besides the characters and animals, I only see one print (though it is a large 5-color print).

Anyways, saw the set had populated into the sidebar yesterday, and noticed that Jessie is now wearing Woody's star. Another member of my LUG is more excited about the black pig.

Let's all say it together: because it's cheaper and more profit for one of the greediest corporation on this planet.

This is at best a 20€ set and would even then be expensive. People should simply stop buying this overpriced stuff. There are tons of other toys out there which are reasonably priced with the same fun for the kids

I don't think so? We've been getting occassional Woody minifigs in e.g. 43212 and 40774 over the last handful of years since TS4, probably specifically to keep the mould in use for whenever the next movie rolled around; and 43108-2 had a recolour of Jessie's hairpiece which, if moulds are kept for five years before being scrapped as I think has been said to be the case, we are juuuust within that timespan from so I'd imagine it should still exist?

$49 for a black piggy seems overpriced!

Ooh, Bullseye returns. I haven't been able to get him on the aftermarket since I missed him in the original run of sets. Don't know if I really want this, but it's good to have another chance. Maybe he'll be in another set later too. (And aftermarket prices should be lower for this new version at least.)

Edit: oh yeah, this new version is objectively worse with less printing. But it's still good enough for me. He's in-line with regular Lego horses if nothing else. \_O_/

Woody and Jessie not having dual molding is unfortunate though. Especially because I think these minifigures are reused from the Celebration Train, minus small variants for the torsos. (I guess Jessie's the sheriff now? I haven't watched TS4 and I'm probably not going to see this one either.)

On what is that 5 year limit based, continued production or unused molds in storage?
I would also think this is different for licensed items since the molds usually are property of the licenseholder and need to be given to the licensor or next licensee.

I can tell that most Brickset users don't buy 4+ sets very pften. .20/piece ratio is the normal pricing for 4+ sets and has been for the last 10 years.

I only have fifteen of them, but I bet that that's fifteen more than a lot of Bricksetters have.

This is cute. I like a lot of the 4+ sets, honestly. I’d have to have a look to see how common those big archway pieces are but I imagine they’re part of the price.

Hoping that excellent pig makes it to pick a brick. Lego’s general reluctance to provide me with a sufficient stream of interesting and readily available farm animals hurts my inner five year old. :)

That’s true. I’d only been thinking of actual Toy Story sets, not Disney in general.

@Berrus_Brickus:
TS4 is a great film. People don’t like it because they’re offended that the story can continue without Andy, but every short and both holiday specials they’ve done in the franchise has occurred after the toys were gifted to Bonnie.

@Anonym said:

Someone on a design team stated publicly that maintaining a mold for five years costs as much as cutting a new one. They’ve also purged their mold inventory over 20 years ago, and put strict limits on how many molds can be in production at any given time. Once per year, the design leads get together and decide which molds to retire to make room for new molds in that list. If a mold isn’t likely to see use in the next few years, it will probably be destroyed in the short term, and a new one tooled up at such time as they need it in production again.

"I would also think this is different for licensed items since the molds usually are property of the licenseholder and need to be given to the licensor or next licensee."

And where is that coming from? I’ve heard retired molds get buried in the foundations of their buildings, but never that they give them to the licensor. Sometimes IP-locked elements become unlocked, like the lightsaber hilt that has been in tons of themes once they stopped exclusively producing them in chrome.

Yes, but usually it’s pretty obvious why the PPP is so high. I’m not seeing it here.

By in Brazil,

Record breaking level of dip in quality from past sets of similar 4+ caliber, and lack of care, not to mention knowledge of how to handle a prominent IP such as this one.

Every time I place a PaB order, I see if they have any animals (whether real-world or more fantastic) that I don't have. If those pigs make it there, I'll definitely be picking one up.

I have an ongoing internal battle between my desire to have All The Creatures (Including/Especially Dinosaurs) and my deep disinterest in Jurassic World as a franchise, but surely a black pig is generic enough not to get locked behind IP even with a fun print. /optimism

That pony element was created for 31175 (the wings came from 71048-9), but in terms of a Toy Story movie…possibly. MLP is Hasbro, and they have a working relationship with them, but none of the Toy Story sets so far have included any characters that were borrowed into the films by Pixar. No Mr. Potatohead, no Barbie and Ken, no Fisher Price telephone, etc. However, they _did_ just make a Slinky Dog set with a Slinky Dog “minifig”, so maybe the character roster can be expanded now.

By in United States,

I see the "unprinted feet" disease has spread beyond the dinosaurs and is now afflicting other animals. Really disappointing to see the level of detail on LEGO animals decreasing as prices rise.

By in Sweden,

those are some pretty bad minifigures, bring back 2010, who even is that figure named Woody in this set, really bad

I got a couple on clearance, when they were available at half-decent prices.

Anyway, the minifigs in this set are terrible imho, especially when compared to the awesome ones that came before.
