LEGO Star Wars Up-Scaled Darth Vader and AT-RT Driver Helmet revealed!
Posted by CapnRex101,A new up-scaled LEGO minifigure format debuted in 2021 and has since been applied to various characters, now including Darth Vader! 75461 Up-Scaled Darth Vader Minifigure feels overdue, but its execution looks excellent on the whole.
In addition, the Helmet Collection endures with 75458 Imperial Remnant AT-RT Driver Helmet. I am surprised to see the series continue following the introduction of Star Wars busts, though this model looks impressive, so perhaps there is value in having both collections ongoing.
These sets will be available from June 1st and more images are available after the break...
75458 Imperial Remnant AT-RT Driver Helmet
- 775 pieces
- £59.99, $69.99, €69.99
75461 Up-Scaled Darth Vader Minifigure
- 1028 pieces
- £89.99, $99.99, €99.99
What do you think of these sets? Fans have discussed an up-scaled Darth Vader minifigure as a concept for years, so I will be very interested to hear what everyone thinks of the actual design.

That upscaled Darth Vader is so cute it makes me want to cry.
No prints in the Darth Vader set, everything is a sticker. Poor!
Vader's eyes look weird...
So much for the introduction of the bust collection meaning that there won't be any more helmet sets.
It'll be weird to have the Vader bust and up-scaled figure on shelves at the same time as they are similar products. Looks like the up-scaled figure doesn't include a minifigure, unlike some of the other sets in the line.
Damn stickers
I will be asking for both for Xmas
Vader is so, so close. His head needs to be just a tad wider but otherwise fantastic.
No Imperial Shuttle that was leaked alongside these? Huh. Well, the helmet looks good. I can’t say Darth Vader’s head is doing it for me though.
:loud snoring:
It's great to see these upscaled figs continue to improve—Vader here is the first one that has the correct gap between the toes (previous figs have had the leg gap but kept the feet square at the expense of the silhouette).
First helmet set I get since the first wave will be the inevitable recolour of the AT-RT driver in tan. Hopefully this retires and gets replaced extremely quickly because the design is excellent but, it's not the colour I'll spend money on.
AT-RT driver helmet doubles as a Shoretrooper helmet if you leave it in your window long enough
This is better, much better than the new bust Vader with the goofy open mouth.
Vader looks very good. Still waiting for Batman.
Vader would be more tempting if I didn't have the backlog that I have, especially since that backlog includes 40921. But I do like how they did the lightsaber. More up-scaled minifigs should come with accessories.
Like others have said, $100 and all stickers? C’mon. Decision to print is so inconsistent when you compare this to Ferrari helmets, Pokémon, Mario. Why is Star Wars subpar?
Got zero interest in the AT RT helmet but I will be picking up the Darth Vader upscaled minifig. The face and helmet don’t look quite right for some reason, but overall it’s fine and for me is a bit of a Lego dream come true-I love the upscaled figures so to see this and the space astronaut this year is amazing. Just hope the facial details are prints and not stickers.
I hope this means we will get the likes of Boba Fett and Yoda as well later on down the line.
Hmm... Up-scaled Minifigures are great. Star Wars is crap. Decisions, decisions...
@Spacefarer: Ya' sure that's not Vader 'breathing'...I mean, the two sounds are similar...Hmm: Dear Mel Brooks: Regarding "Spaceballs: The Next One...":D
Darth Vader looks awesome! Bring on the Batman what’s up
Both look great. I don't have any complaints because I won't be purchasing either.

Designers have hinted that the use of Stickers vs Prints in licensed sets usually comes from discussions with the holders (and possibly budgetary allocation from them), which sounds silly...
But now we have a subtheme which was exclusively printed elements getting its first stickers because of a Star Wars set kinda adds some credence to the claim lmao
I wonder what kind of constraints were put on the Upscaled Vader designers with the bust being released simultaneously. Did they have to make different choices to keep the sets different?
Somehow, the Helmet Collection returned.

Well, I guess that is the Star Wars tax in effect.
Regardless of stickers, I think that Vader will sell really well.
Does the background of the Vader fig box (front side specifically) look like AI image slop to anyone else? A bit concerning...
Anyway, both sets here look great. Brilliant angle work on the helmet, the engineering alone might make me buy it if I ever have some spare LEGO money (not likely with the excellent Ninjago lineup incoming, though!) Vader's head is a bit strange, but he would look great on display regardless and the techniques/detail on the body are top notch.
Head, bust, whole body... Maybe they should make some individual parts of Vader too, like his breathing mask with that lovely sound or Smart brick. Why stop with just a lightsaber?
Sheen, this is the seventh time in a row the community has decided the helmet series line retired just to be brought back...
The helmet, lightsaber and cape look good on Vader, the stickers not so much. I’m not sure to pay 100€ for this.
It’s inexcusable that all the detailed elements in the upscale Vader minifigure are stickers.
Vader's got his shades on SWAG xD

to be honest, The Star Wars line gets what it deserves!.. you star wars fans have nothing to complain about because this freakin theme is around for more then 25 years! believe me, thats more then anyone needs!
This is the Vader I'm looking for
76393 cost 120$ (140$ adjusted for inflation), contained two up-scaled figures with almost 1700 parts, fully printed details and with a giant cape and stick as well. So SW fans are being ripped-off, as usual, especially with most popular characters like Vader.
Surprisingly the Helmet remained at 70$ but that's just because they sell worse.

It looks as if they are not only similar, the have the same head size, but are built completely differently.
Upscaled Vader looks pretty good. I'm not sure about the helmet, it feels a bit off or chunky, compared to previous ones which look more accurate and smooth IMO. I also see that the display sets trend keeps going on...
Oh damn Vader looks better than the bust hahaha!
The leg change means Vader can’t stand on upscaled studs!
Only three regular studs of space in his foot. The upscaled studs are four regular studs wide.

This is the comment I was looking for.
Upscaled Vader looks good. It would be hilarious if there was an Obi Wan minifig in the head driving it.
Now I want an upscaled Obi Wan to recreate their light sabre duel.
I have no problem applying stickers, but the upscaled Vader having stickers is a dealbreaker even at a significant discount. I don't like that they purposefully step away from printed elements in the upscaled series just because it's Star Wars and they think they can get away with selling low-effort products.

HELLLLOOOOOOO Star Wars Tax!!!!
The helemt is great but wish they'd choose between busts or helmets and be consistent. Theres a lot more thats doable with busts - but personally prefer the helmets. In a world where waves of playsets have been decimated it's sad to see so many vader display sets available at once, and when we do get playsets they are too expensive - which can't be argued against by no LAN shill
Am I missing something? How is this an AT-RT driver helmet?

Personally, I don’t consider it a strict improvement, since I liked that the old design (a.) worked with upscaled studs and other upscaled paraphernalia, as well as (b.) being able to stand on studded surfaces, and (c.) looked slightly better while seated. But any solution needs to compromise one way or the other. As you note, the leg silhouette is ever-so-slightly more accurate this way, so it’s not like it’s all bad.

No, it should either have Palpatine or a pre-Mustafar Vader driving.
Thought we were done with the helmets. Now need to print another wall mount so this one can go to the collection.
My partner collects the helmets so I imagine we’ll be getting that. I wonder if they're planning to run the helmets and busts concurrently or if this is the last one.
I’m not sure I want to spend 90 quid on an upscaled minifig but Vader certainly looks good. (I agree that Palpatine or Anakin ought to be piloting, if anyone. Or ghostly David Prowse!Anakin, maybe. Obi-Wan only wishes he’d had that much influence over his wayward padawan.)
I love that helmet.
That Vader upscaled minifig will look great in the background in my Teams meetings! =D
For realz though, I wants one. Helmet looks great too.
I sort of want to get Vader just to swap parts with 40921. I mean, they're both sci-fi guys associated with triangular gray spaceships.
what's with their aversion to transparent 2x2 round tiles/plates?
Lego seems to have perfected the helmet construction, looks very good. Also, I wonder what goes on in Vader's head this time around.
Darth is adorable!

An illegal connection that stresses the parts. When Luke says ‘I feel the conflict within you’, that’s what he’s talking about. Definitely.

The 1x2s might be for the same reason 5006291 used quarter-circle tiles I.e. that the necessary pieces were already available, so the designer didn't need to burn a frame to get 2x2s.
I have most but not all upscaled figs. Its times like this I am happy I am not a completionist. This would have been an instant purchase if it was brick built or had printed pieces. Way too many stickers to get the details so I will pass.
That upscaled Vader figure is going to sell like hotcakes.
For everyone complaining about stickers, it's just under 10c ppp for a Star Wars licensed set - what did you expect? They probably could have done one with all prints... for about the usual 13c ppp... and then everyone would have complained that it was overpriced at $130 and said it should have been... $100.
I'll wait for a sale ;)
Vader overall looks good. I don't like the eyes. The helmet looks better with more angles than the first image I saw days ago. But the eyes still bug me...see what I did there?
I'll likely get it still, but not at full price. And if it doesn't ever go on sale, then I save money. This hobby is ridiculous anymore anyway.
Dear Lego
Upscale Jar Jar Binks next please.

I wouldn't buy it, but I'd love to see how they'd do it.

40504 also had stickers for the hat and treasure map though (but prints for face, beard and plaque). But otherwise I agree. Stickers, SW tax and leg design change makes me hesitate on getting this.
