There are definitely some interesting sets, notably including 71868 Wyldyre's Transforming Dragon Mech, which looks like a fairly ordinary dragon at first glance, but features a dramatic transformation function!

Nice!

The Transforming Dragon Mech is definitely the standout here—the first time Wyldfyre's gotten a build of her own, and it doesn't fail to impress.

The new Land Bounty is definitely cool too, though. Splitting into three vehicles instead of two (a flyer, a buggy, and a bike that unfolds a la the Batpod) is a fun twist. Sadly it does look like that comes at the expense of interior space, which is often one of the things I look forward to in some of these sorts of big "mobile base" sets.

Close enough, welcome back 2232!

@Lyichir The bike portion of the Land Bounty is more reminiscent of 70009 Worriz' Combat Lair, IMO.
I like this Land Bounty! I was trying to figure out how the segments all worked; finally I realized that the front two wheels become the bike- I thought it was the rear two, and just couldn't make sense of it.
It looks like the cockpit probably only holds two minifigs. That is disappointing.

Ok that Land Bounty looks awesome. My reds collection could use some sorucing up, so that would be a good one to get!

By in Sweden,

71863 surprisingly is my favorite out of the bunch. A really interesting looking beast. Articulation doesn’t look all that great though

By in United States,

Isn’t LEGO missing a great marketing opportunity just dumping all these set announcements out at the same time, restricting our ability to savor, scrutinize, update our wish lists?

Dear Zane, when Mark Twain spoke of "eating frogs", he wasn't being literal.

How do you know?

Man, I’ve only just gotten back into Ninjago, but $10 for a decent looking mech, and 3 well-detailed Minifigures just doesn’t seem real in 2026. What a great value.

By in United States,

I don’t get why the Acid Monsters in 71865 have legs.

Beatrix’s mech seems rather dinky, given that it’s supposed to be the same one from 71796.

The Fire Monster being exclusive to the Land Bounty is a disappointment, since it really should be a figure you can get multiples of for army building. Ninjago could definitely stand to get in on the Battle Pack game.

By in New Zealand,

Invincible fans like myself are happy have the ability to make a custom Battle Beast minifigure using Zilvar in 71863.

By in United States,

Every single one of these sets brings something to the table. A very nice release series! (The other "Summer Ninjago Sets" article didn't have any that appealed to me.)

Easier to ride another creature with, I guess. Until you mentioned that I had forgotten that all the previous ones had tails, which makes the printed legs on these a lot more appealing as an option—since I'm not planning to get this set I might want to try to pick up some of these legs just for variety's sake!

We've had four Ninjago battle packs since 2024...

Great as always.

Might get 71862 not just because it's a nifty little mech, but because it has two Darksaber blades. If the Darksaber blade is one of those pieces that always has an extra included, I could get a https://brickset.com/parts/6122727/light-sword-shaft out of my extras and give one of my Din Djarins the Darksaber without having to cannibalize 71862.

Yes, the Darksaber blade is a typical spare.

True, but only the first one functioned as a battle pack in that it contained two unnamed army-building minifigs. Two of them (including this one) only contain one, and the one in 2025 only included named characters. This would be like a Star Wars “battle pack” with Luke, Han Solo, and one Stormtrooper. Sure, it’s still nice to get the figs in a cheap set, but there’s really no army-building potential.

Show me the rule that says battle packs are army-builders.

By in Poland,

I REALLY wish lego stopped 4plus prices bullshit.

Also WHERE IS FROHICKY?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am obsessed with Ninjago’s transforming mechs, Wyldfyre’s will be aquired.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Sigh, another wave of must-get minifigures, the Ninjago-theme is just relentless

Then I will almost certainly be getting 71862.

Does the coloring of the katana in the first picture of 71863 look off to anyone else?

There’s definitely no rule, that’s just a very common interpretation of the term in the community. A pack to supplement your battle with extra soldiers. I don’t think LEGO is wrong for calling these sets battle packs, as they are mini battles in a pack, and they are great little sets! But I also don’t think fans are wrong for calling for traditional battle packs instead or in addition.

By in United States,

Take a shot for every Ninjago set that's a mech or a dragon - oh wait, you'd be dead from alcohol poisoning.
Cool though some of the sets undoubtedly are, the monotony of concepts further proves that this theme jumped the shark years ago, and the only thing keeping it going is corporate greed. I mean, they literally had to destroy the world and mash it with newly-invented ones in order to find new stories to tell, and all that has done is make the already convoluted preexisting lore even worse.

And despite reinventing the world, the variety of builds in sets has diminished. Looking at this year's sets (23 sets so far), we have:
-7 non-mech vehicles (2 bikes, 3 cars, 1 combo vehicle (car/bike/ship), 1 helicopter)
-3 structures (including 1 useless plinth)
-2 non-dragon creatures
-6 dragons
-12 mechs (counting 71868 as both a mech and a dragon)
-2 spinners

Meanwhile, in, say, 2015 (27 sets) we had:
-11 non-mech vehicles (2 bikes, 3 cars, 1 tank, 1 helicopter, 1 jet, 2 airships, 1 boat)
-6 structures
-0 non-dragon creatures
-4 dragons (counting the thing in 70738 to be generous)
-3 mechs
-6 spinners

That is to say, only 12/30 substantial builds this year are not a dragon or mech, whereas in 2015, 17/24 builds were not. Some of the dragons and mechs being produced now look cool, sure, but on the whole it's getting rather boring and overdone.

By in United Kingdom,

Wyldfire’s dragon buddy’s transformation is significantly less unnerving when it’s a mech and not an organic dragon. I ended up not getting 71793 even though I really liked the Wyldfire minifig because it creeped me out too much but this, this I’m on board with.
