LEGO Donkey Kong teaser!
Posted by CapnRex101,LEGO Donkey Kong debuted in the Super Mario range a few years ago and it seems a bigger version of the famous Nintendo character is coming soon!
A short teaser video shows a barrel rolling through frame, with the Donkey Kong logo above, which almost certainly hints towards a large-scale Donkey Kong figure coming in the near future, I would imagine.
Watch the teaser video below...

Ooh, I would imagine that this is a teaser for a 25M replica! I'd totally be down for a diorama of that.
Totally expected this: first Super Mario, then Animal Crossing, a couple of Zelda sets, Mario Kart, and now Donkey Kong. I expect they'll be in the same scale as the Mario sets rather than the Sonic the Hedgehogs sets (but I'd love to be wrong!), as the Rambi 71420 was a dead giveaway! I can already see Kranky Kong being a hot sell already....Krool too.
Yes, yes, fine, whatever, but when are they going to announce the Mario minifig sets, now that we know they’re finally coming?
Gentlemen: let us begin expanding.
They're really scrapping the barrel with these Nintendo sets....
Well there were already all the brick built Kong family in the Mario sets.
What next? Smart brick Pokemon?

Oh the foreshadowing my poor sweet child. Just check r/legoleak
Pretty sure I know what this is thanks to the rumor mill….
*yawn*

Star Fox!
Cool! Looking forward to seeing it.

Those are not just any Donkey Kong barrels, they’re from the original Donkey Kong arcade game. I’d expect a lego rendition of the arcade game specifically .
I wonder if it’s got some kind of rolling barrel play function, seeing as the arcade game is all about jumping over barrels rolling down the level. The large Mario sets usually have some kind of fun functionality.
Could be tempted although, on the Atari 8 bit at least, I always preferred Miner 2049er!

Metroid and Xenoblade too! Even just one set from each (realistically, how many could they make from smaller franchises before they stop selling?)

I was thinking the same thing, even without the arcade cabinet, it would be pretty easy to recreate the basics of the original Donkey Kong game in a LEGO set.
Let me guess brick built Donkey Kong statue, how original LEGO
I thought there was supposed to be a Donkey Kong arcade game - like the Pac Man arcade 10323.
A large scale Donkey Kong might be interesting as well - I suppose a bit like Bowser 71411.
Either way, I probably won't have the space to display them anyway - I try to keep my "arcade/video game" display pieces as small as possible because they add up quite fast.

Pitfall
(shrugs)
Having seen the latest Lego Pokémon leaks, I am very sceptical about this...

Pong!
For 1300 pieces this will be only a "flavour" set like Pacman. Yet a playable DK game with interchangeable levels and working joystick and jump button can be achieved with around 4000 pieces, one motor, some gear selector pieces and differential gears. We can only wish for larger sets with more functionality.
I can kind of imagine what's coming, but we'll see...
Another €200+ set nobody has room for! Yay!
I have some good and bad memories as soon as I saw this.

Not nobody. Fortunately for Lego their userbase is ever changing!
Smells like a set of the first level of the original Donkey Kong arcade game with a function for rolling the barrels down
Get ready to jumpman.

Oh, how messed up would that be if the first Mario minifig isn't even named Mario?

I sort of want to see that happen, just to see what people's reactions would be.
We have already had some Donkey Kong sets in the Super Mario theme with Donkey Kong as the main character in the set, in 2023, so this does seem strange...
