Brickset x Brick Search FAQ
Posted by Huw,Want to know more about the Brick Search x Brickset crossover that was launched in May?
Here are some answers to some of the questions that might have come up…
Why did you decide to make Brick Search and Brickset compatible?
Brickset and Brick Search are the two leading LEGO collection platforms and we felt it made sense to allow collections to be managed via both. And we felt the fairest way to introduce Brick Search Plus to Brickset members was by offering a three-month free trial, so they could see for themselves what Brick Search Plus was all about.
How do I claim my three-month free trial of Brick Search Plus?
Follow this link to claim a free three-month trial of Brick Search Plus. If you don’t already have an account on Brickset, then you should set one up and enjoy a complete LEGO collecting experience.
You will also need Brick Search installed on your mobile device. The link above will prompt you to download it if you don’t already have it. Brick Search is available for iOS devices from the App Store, and for Android devices from the Google Play Store.
How do I sync my Brickset account on Brick Search?
Tap your profile icon, then open the Connect Brickset link on the menu, and then use the blue Sync Now button.
How long does it take to sync accounts?
Once you tap the sync accounts button, it should take no more than a few minutes to sync your accounts.
Does my collection sync automatically when I add a new set?
Yes, if you have Auto Sync turned on. You can check that in the Connect Brickset menu.
There is an issue with the syncing of my Brick Search and Brickset accounts. What do I do?
Get in touch with us and we’ll look into it.
What happens when my trial is over?
Once your three-month free trial of Brick Search Plus is over, you’ll automatically become a Brick Search Plus member and be charged for your membership. If you don’t want to automatically become a Brick Search Plus member at the end of your trial, you can cancel during your trial.
What does Brick Search Plus have to offer?
Brick Search Plus members earn 3% cashback on LEGO.com purchases when buying through the app. Combined with the Insiders programme, that means an 8% return – which rises to 13% during double points events.
There is also a monthly prize draw for Brick Search Plus members who’ve subscribed for more than 30 days with a £100 LEGO.com gift card to be won, the minifigure scanner, checklist and stock checker, the full LEGO set archive and collection, wishlist and price comparison features that help LEGO fans manage and grow their LEGO collection at the best possible price.
What does 3% LEGO.com cashback mean?
3% LEGO.com cashback means that when you complete a purchase at LEGO.com through a link in Brick Search, we’ll give you 3% of what you spend back in what we’ve termed Brick Credits. Brick Credits accumulate with each LEGO.com purchase made via Brick Search and once one of the thresholds has been reached, can be redeemed in-app for a digital LEGO.com gift card – the thresholds are 2,000 points for a £20 LEGO.com gift card and 5,000 points for a £50 LEGO.com gift card. So if you spend £500 at LEGO.com, you get 1,500 Brick Credits in return.
Brick Credits also stack with LEGO.com Insiders points, taking your return to a combined 8%, and that increases to 13% during a double points weekend.
You still also qualify for gifts-with-purchase or any other promotion offered by LEGO.com.
How does the price comparison tool work?
The price comparison tool works together with other features, such as the barcode scanner and wishlist, to help LEGO shoppers find the set they want at the best possible price.
Scan the barcode of a LEGO set you found in a retailer with Brick Search’s scanner and that set will open in the app. From there you’ll be able to see how much this set is available for in a range of other retailers, so you’ll know if you could get it cheaper somewhere else.
The tool is geo-based, so if you’re in the UK, you see UK-facing retailers. We’ve got the majority of the main UK-based LEGO retailers loaded into the price comparison tool, and are working on adding retailers for other countries.
Brick Credits terms and conditions apply
How do I enter the monthly Brick Search Plus members’ prize draw?
All you need to do to enter the monthly Brick Search Plus members’ prize draw is be a member for more than 30 days as of the date of the draw. The next draw takes place on May 25 and everyone who was a member for more than 30 days before then will be entered. The winner will be chosen at random and contacted via email.
We will announce the date of the next draw shortly after the May draw.

Are there any new features in the pipeline?
We’re always looking ahead to what’s next – we don’t want to stand still. We’ve got some ideas for where to take Brick Search in the future, and you should start seeing them in the next few weeks.
I’ve got an idea or a question for you – where do I go?
We love hearing what our fellow LEGO fans want from a LEGO app, so drop us a line if you have an idea for us. If you’ve got a question that wasn’t answered here, please get in touch on [email protected].
Brick Search is available for iOS devices from the App Store, and for Android devices from the Google Play Store.

I pay enough for Lego. That's more than I'm willing to spend anymore on toys.
Sometimes a useful notification becomes an irritatingly repetitive advert.
Nice to know.
But I'll leave it to others to use this service.
My LEGO collecting needs are more than satisfied with the features available on Brickset and Bricklink.
Is there a free alternative?
I mean, thankfully my first 2 minifigures from the current series weren't copies

If you're just looking for CMFs, and don't care about the other features, Minifig Scan is a good app. The six-packs lego.com sells will also contain six different minifigs, although every time I've ordered more than one, I've gotten the same six in the next box, even when I waited a while before purchasing another.
Yeah... no. I'm good. I'll stick with Minifig Scan and not pay any money, thank you very much.
Didn't you get enough backlash the last time you tried to push this @Huw ? Think the majority of people have made it clear they're just not interest when theres plenty of free alternatives out there that do the same.
Not interested, and maybe I'm just an old fogey now but the whole using "x" to denote collabs just annoys me

Yeah, I wasn't among the critics last time(s), but I will say that it's quite baffling to see yet another one of these articles after the overwhelmingly negative response to the preveious ones. I'm very much hoping that this trend doesn't continue any further, these articles come across as the kind of infuriatingly insincere corporate marketing jargon that we all like to make fun of whenever a LEGO press release is shared. Rather strange to see this kind of slop coming straight from Brickset itself.
I guess my concern is how long until Brickset is no longer free. Collabs can be fine, but this doesn't seem to offer much extra compared to some other free services.
I love Brickset and will keep using it for collecting needs, but anymore I have a concern on how much longer I'll be able to use it if they start charging also.
As I keep saying, nothing is changing. Brick Search just provides another option which some may find useful.
Brickset will remain free unless advertising and affiliate revenue drop to unsustainable levels and they show no sign of doing so at the moment.

I feel the same about the word ‘collabs’…
I see it is available in the UK App Store again. It wa not available for a week or so.

Yes, it should be "+," not "x." Were adding, not multiplying! (In all serious, though, I don't have a problem with it.)

[In the shadowed hallway, Alice watches and waits. What Huw doesn't know wont' hurt him...much. She's heard great things about Whispering Pines. And as she looked, there was a pale horse, and its rider's name was Fee.]

At least the significant figures are treated correctly.
I've used the news preferences (thank you, I appreciate that!) to hide other article categories which aren't my interest.
It might be worth considering using another or a narrower category for these so people could filter to their taste. You're still going to end up with people in the comments complaining regardless (some for not knowing the news filtering exists), but it would give people the option of hiding these without hiding the whole Miscellaneous category.
Installed it, connected to BrickSet, and synced my collection.
It worked, not too smooth, but it worked.
Not all my sets were in the app after the sync. Sync had reported 0 errors though.
Don't find the app super intuitive, wrt collection handling.
Some of the UI visual behavior, is rather not intended.
And, bigger minus point for me, the app does not seem to have the notion of owning multiple copies of a set.
Will deinstall again.
Honestly, this app doesn't do enough beyond what the Brickset website does for me to be interested.
The good thing is, like @Huw said, it doesn't change Brickset, it just offers another (kind of comfortable) option for those who are interested.
If you are not interested (like myself), just keep using Brickset like before.
Blatant plug :D, myBricks has CMF scanning too now - totally free of course. I think omgbricks is a good alternative too, they were the first to support S29.
As an app dev I like seeing more options for people. Not keen on the recent pattern to charge people for everything, but there will always be free alternatives by those of us that are here for the community rather than money.
Huw has always supported me and other app devs and I really appreciate his willingness to let the community integrate with Brickset at no charge.
