Quick look: 11514 Cosmos Flowers

Posted by ,

The 171-piece set 11514 Cosmos Flowers is one of three new additions to the hugely popular and successful Botanicals collection, offering a pretty posy at a pocket-money price, and a good excuse for me to make more 3D printed vases.

Summary

11514 Cosmos Flowers, 171 pieces.
£12.99 / $14.99 / €14.99 | 7.6p, 8.8c, 8.8c per piece.

Another pretty pocket-money posy

The set was provided for review by LEGO. All opinions expressed are those of the author.

Cosmos flowers come in a variety of shades, from deep purple to white and here we have three identically-designed heads in white, light purple (pink) and bright reddish violet.

The petals are minifigure shields clipped to an old-school octagonal plate rather than the new circular design and they have a tendency to twist and turn at the slightest touch, which is particularly annoying when trying to photograph them!

Two of them have spiky leaves that utilise 'Wolverine claws' attached to their 16-long bright green axle stems, and the white one has a small bud.

Also included are two stalks of fluffy red fountain grass, one of which has a beetle climbing up it.

Botanical sets such as these that don't come with a container provide a good excuse to print more vases, so here are three I made to suit, all 12cm high, using a variety of filaments:

This is another beautiful addition to the botanicals collection and I know many of you will appreciate that it incorporates 'nice parts usage' rather than specialised pieces.

It's pretty good value for £12.99, $14.99, €14.99, and at that price it's worth picking up several in order to make a larger bouquet.

Very nice set, review and vases, have to ask does your house contain more Lego or Vase based materials ?

By in Australia,

I thought these were lovely. I currently have mine in a small vase along with the Daisies that came out earlier in the year. They look nice together.

Well my LEGO room currently looks more like a florists than a LEGO room...

This is the most Lego flower of all the Lego flowers. I would display these alongside a collection of 80s and 90s town models.

If LEGO can design a flower that uses the Gondor shields for petals then I'm in.

My first thoughts also jump to Huw's nicely printed vases!!

@CCC I'm still excited about these pink shields, though I'm not sure how I'll use them

By in Germany,

Maybe @Huw could open a small side business, selling 3D-printed LEGO Botanicals compatible vases.
I bet they'd sell like hotcakes.

Aren't all flowers technically cosmos-flowers?

I wonder what percentage of the sales of this set will be to people who have no intention of building it, but are just getting it to part out.
