Avengers: Age of Ultron Sets Revealed

Posted by ,

The Avengers: Age of Ultron is one of the most eagerly anticipated sequels of all time and the LEGO sets accompanying it have garnered great interest too. Although set names were revealed a few weeks ago it was not until the last couple of hours that images appeared in a German catalogue.

There will be six sets accompanying the film, all of which can be seen here. We have listed the set names, piece counts, minifigures and set images below:

  • 76029 Iron Man vs. Ultron - 90 pieces - Iron Man MK 45, Ultron Drone Officer, Ultron Drones (x2).

  • 76030 Duel with Hydra - 220 pieces - Hydra Henchman, Hawkeye, Thor.

  • 76031 Hulkbuster Rescue Mission - 248 pieces - Hulk, Ultron Prime, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man MK 43.

  • 76032 The Avengers Quinjet Chase - 722 pieces - Captain America, Vision, Black Widow, Ultimate Ultron, Iron Man MK 43.

  • 76038 Attack on Avengers Tower - 511 pieces - Iron Man MK 45, Thor, Iron Legion Drones (x2), Ultron.

  • 76041 Burglary at the Hydra Fortress - Piece count unknown - Quicksilver, Hydra Henchman, Baron Von Strucker, Hulk, Captain America.

It is getting rather late in the UK, so I will leave it there for now, but expect further analysis soon. The last few Legends of Chima sets also appear on pages 82-84, so you can take a look at those too.

This is exactly what I wanted to see in an Avengers: Age of Ultron line, so I am delighted with how these look. Post your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks to Sir_Gareth on the forum for bringing these to our attention and for extracting the images from the relevant catalogue pages.

What? No Helicarrier? Who cares! I am so getting all of these! I'll be the guy who runs in and just wraps them all in his arms and empties them on the cash register :-)
Getting Serious.
-So the Quinjet is getting a HUGE remodel, and it looks kind of like the 2014 droid gunship.
- The characters are much better (Black Widow's hair, Hawkeye's hair, Hulk's everything.) I love his olive skin.
-The new off-roader is very nice, as is the Hydra tank. I don't really get the Go-Kart thing, but we'll find out in May, and I also think there's a LOT missing to the Avengers tower's innards.
I think that initially the 2012 sets looked better, but we need official images to clear that up. (For example, look at the Darkseid Invasion box with the backdrop, and then look at the official image.) Looking to be another good year for Marvel.

By in United States,

Dang it! I was hoping for a big fig hulk buster...*sigh
Oh and Vision Looks Awesome!

Looks like the plot is a big opening battle vs Hydra!

Anyone know what a "Super Jumper" is supposed to be?

By in United States,

Totally getting the 90 part sets. AssAssin droids. Plus , the set in the picture would be a nice cheap pick up.

The DC collection is KILLER!

You actually don't have to scroll. Just click the number in the box at the top and type 68.

By in United States,

Wait a second. Just looked at the set names. What is the "Hulkbuster Rescue Mission" anyway? I thought they fought in the movie trailer. Not to mention tiny Ultron fighting giganto-size Hulkbuster suit.
And does anyone else realize that in 76029 the general's body is split in two, the torso on top and the legs attached to the underside. Okay, really got to see this movie now to figure a couple things out......
And is Black Widow seriously stuck with yet ANOTHER Quinjet? At least she's got cool hair. I already have the last one.

April? For DC and Marvel? That makes me a sad panda...

I was hoping one launch would come up sooner than the other to break up the wait.

Wow, the wings on Wonder Woman's invisible plane are gonna be great for starfighter stands. Can't wait.

Does anyone notice the face on page 96/97 between the tusken raider and his staff?

copperwonder96 and thehornedrat: The super jumper looks like a new plastic mold that attaches to the minifigure's feet. It's supposed to work like the plastic frog party favors, only better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not bad. Certainly the minifigures look a lot more realistic and the sets seem to be of better quality than those of the original Avengers film.

Nice to see many figures with detailed printing besides the Hulkbuster and the actual builds in the sets which are not cool. I do understand it's hard to copy something from a movie but these just don't look right. (Guardians of the Galaxy and and Avengers sets were better overall) I will probably get these just for the figures when I see a decent sale. Nice to see different variants of Iron Man and Ultron's. I will defiantly get the LEGO Ultimate Collector's Series Avengers Helicarrier instead of this whole wave. (Marcos Bessa doesn't disappoint right)?

Articles like this is why I love Brickset. Thanks Capn

By in Australia,

Although this is spoiler-ific in terms of the "Age of Ultron" movie ... who the heck cares? THIS IS GREAT. Hulk-Buster Iron Man suit FTW. And I love Avengers tower. Yep, that's going into my city.

By in United Kingdom,

^Don't be so quick to assume these are spoilers, remember the Iron Man film sets? ;)
They may well be spoilers, but they could equally just be "inspired" by the film.

The Avengers Tower will go nicely with the Sci-Fy city I am constructing.

Iron Man vs. Ultron (76029)
- With a total of four figures, three being Ultron's this is definitely a pick-up for me. Its a classic army-builder style set and with three Ultron's in each its probably wise for me to pick up a few of them.

Duel with Hydra (76030)
- Not much to say about this set, other than Hawkeye I don't see a redeeming factor or reason to buy it... feels like a pass. The vehicles seem really unnecessary and the film version of Hawkeye isn't really my favourite. Very easy pass for me.

Rescue Mission (76031)
- Feels like a good set, you get three good figures, one big fig and a fifth figure if you count the Hulkbuster. Though for me it feels a little oddly proportioned, the hulkbuster should be smaller or Hulk should be larger. Will probably be a purchase though, easy way to get Hulk.

The Avengers Quinjet Chase (76032)
- Seems like this is the main set they want to sell, throwing in Ultimate Ultron and Vision... yet sadly it feels too similar to the Quinjet from the last wave or the Milano Spaceship I already have. Vision doesn't seem to accurately represent what we've seen of him and Ultron driving a truck seems odd. Not sure if this is a wise purchase, yet its an unfortunate purchase that I deem necessary.

Attack on Avengers Tower (76038)
- Getting it out of the way quickly, the tower is a massive disappointment. Too much focus went into playability and gimmicks rather than actual development of the tower or its interior. The figures are all good, but that tower needs work. Will probably wait for this one or skip it as the UCS Helicarrier is likely the more iconic thing of the series.

Burglary at the Hydra Fortress (76041)
- Very easy pass for me, the vehicle and tower are badly proportioned and other than Quick Silver and Baron Von Strucker every other figure can be gotten elsewhere.

Final thoughts;
Overall the figures of this line seem to be the main factor while several of the builds suffer, being generic vehicle chase sets or badly proportioned focusing on one thing over the other. The best set appears to be the Iron Man vs Ultron set which is a must-have army builder for fans of Ultron.

Five different variations of Ultron will likely be enough to convince a majority to become collectors as we have Sub-Ultron Soldier, Sub-Ultron Officer, Ultron, Ultron Prime and Ultimate Ultron (Scattered throughout the sets)

If you are buying this line chances are you are fans of the figures, the issue being that most the best figures are in the high priced sets (Looking at you Ultimate Ultron) so as such I'd recommend picking up the figures separately to avoid spending insane amounts.

I look forward to seeing the UCS Helicarrier soon to determine whether that is a purchase or the Avengers Tower. Fingers crossed we get Avengers Infinity War sets in the future, I really hope we will see Thanos and more down the line.

@zipsforbananas
Pretty sure they class as spoilers to an extent.

BLACK WIDOW HAS NEW HAIR! And it's the Nurse Joker hair from LB3! Does that foreshadow anything?
These look interesting. Hulk looks strange, but that's just the changes, which are more accurate. The Avengers Tower looks great.

DC is supposed to be an April release??? What? Why?
Those people that let those sets slip through in December must be in trouble if the release date is supposed to be so late. Too bad my birthday's the month before...

By in United States,

^Avengers Tower could have been a floor or two higher that's for sure, Hulkbuster rescue is a great set indeed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I agree with scarillian THANOS would be a dream come true.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Even though it says April for the DC superheroes sets I feel like thats just a printing error and that they will be released in January. Didn't the DC sets get released in January this year and the Marvel ones in march?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Scarilian:
These sets, like Attack on Avengers Tower, are made for kids. Playability is the main focus. Not to say they could have done better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

in respond to aegis2000 there's going to be a shield helicarier for 500$! so excited!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Whoa!!!!!!! These are epic!! I will have to make sure to get them while their out, cause these will be hot on the secondary market. I missed out on most of the original avengers sets and was mightily disappointed when they retired and i realized I only had one.( Loki's cosmic cube escape) The hulkbuster armor looks pretty good and the new hulk is AMAZING!!!(makes me feel ok about missing the original avengers one) I also love the new capt. America, as I was sad that lego made no Winter Soldier sets. I would like to get them all, but since I am only 13, I will have to see. The hulkbuster set is a must though, and it should be 30, maybe 40 dollars?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does anyone else realize that the prices, supposedly in Euros, are closer to US Dollars? The Thor set must be only $20, the Iron Man vs. Ultron Soldiers set can't be more than $15, the Quinjet is probably about $80....... anyone else see that?

By in Russian Federation,

Disappointed of Avengers' Tower view, looks really awful

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Aegis2000

I found UK prices for most the sets if that helps;
76029 Iron Man vs Ultron (90 pieces) (£11.99)
76030 Hydra Avengers Showdown (220 pieces) (£19.99)
76031 The Hulkbuster Smash (248 pieces) (£29.99)
76032 Avengers Quinjet City Chase (722 pieces) (£59.99)
76038 Attack on Avengers Tower (511 pieces) (£49.99)

@Aegis2000
True, I just felt they could have balanced playability with design also. For example having only one layer of the tower and focusing on decorating the interior a little more.

Gravatar
By in United States,

76031 for me!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Scarilian
I cannot agree with you more. It's hard being a Lego fan over ten these days...
And thanks for the price list. They compare to about the same price in USD.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am really excited about the Vision minifigure! The Avengers were my only comic subscription as a kid and he was my favorite character.

I agree with the comments about the Avengers Tower. One floor more would have been better. Actually, probably making each floor a little more substantial would have helped even more.

The Hulkbuster armor looks great, and the Quinjet is sweet (though I have the other one already).

By in United Kingdom,

I keep coming back to this article - the sets are absolutely brilliant! I am going to buy the Avengers Tower, Quinjet and Hulkbuster - if I can afford the others, I'll be getting them too! :-)
