Two LEGO Star Wars books coming soon

Posted by ,

Huw picked the perfect time to go on holiday as news has been quiet over the past couple of days, with nothing much happening other than the release of a trailer for the LEGO Jurassic World video game. Typically we don't cover video game news here at Brickset, but thanks to those of you who emailed us about it.

From one of the newest LEGO licenses to one of its oldest: Star Wars. Two new DK Books are being readied for release in April and May, LEGO Star Wars in 100 Scenes and the LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded.

LEGO Star Wars in 100 Scenes tracks the entire Star Wars saga from beginning to end, with exactly 100 famous scenes recreated in LEGO form. These images are accompanied by a humourous re-telling of the story and some (hopefully) interesting facts, many of which were provided by myself!

If you are looking to recap the entire story of Star Wars so far before Episode VII is released in December, this might be the perfect opportunity to do so! LEGO Star Wars in 100 Scenes is available for pre-order on Amazon UK and is on the US site for $14.47. It will be available worldwide from April 1st.

Probably more interesting to many LEGO Star Wars fans however will be the LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded. The original character encyclopedia proved very popular as it featured some great close up photography of many Star Wars minifigures and an exclusive Han Solo figure. This book also includes an exclusive minifigure which we reported on last month: Boba Fett in his white prototype armour.

You can pre-order the book now from Amazon for the RRP of £14.99 in the UK, or at $13.37 (30% off) in the US prior to its general release on the 1st of May.

By in Belgium,

More holidays than Thomas Cook! I've never really understood the attraction of these DK books but the "Star Wars in 100 scenes" one sounds pretty good.

Star Wars in 100 Scenes sounds great! Nice little trick, using real LEGO Sets for the job, rather than MOCs. Looking forward to having a read of your (hopefully :P) interesting facts, Capn!

And the CE looks nice now I've seen a page spread. How many minifigs are there in it?

Thanks for the news, Capn!

(Is Huw back on that Top-Secret Mission?) ;)

The books look great, but without meaning to sound harsh, this isn't exactly new information - I've already pre-ordered mine around a month ago!

More importantly though - Can I ask what has happened to the promised reviews for the rest of the Avengers: Age of Ultron sets? I can't wait to read them and I'm sure it said they'd be here over a week ago!

For those who haven't pre-ordered the character encyclopedia, and are planning on getting it, I would get it sooner rather than later. The price continues to go up on this. I pre-ordered mine on amazon 2 weeks ago for $11.50

100 Scenes cover - Six movies? But there's only 3 movies. OHHH, they must be including the George Lucas fanfics

Sigh, and it looks as if the 100 Scenes are all just the official sets, so we're probably going to see Geonosis Padme for all of her shots...

By in Australia,

The captions spoil the 100 scenes book. Before I saw the photo here, I was expecting it to be in the same style as an art book, but this looks more like a catalogue. Given that it has no minifigure like the other books do, I'd say it's definitely not worth buying.

Since I don't own the previous Encyclopedia, I decided to purchase this one. I'd rather have this figure than the other figure. And I'm sure the figure alone will go for as much as the book does, so might as well just buy the book.

@Monkeyman3838 - Unfortunately I have been rather busy recently (all will be revealed as to why) but an Age of Ultron review will be posted tomorrow, guaranteed.

Are you doing a review for the avengers quinjet? I need to decide weather or not to get it while the double vip points thing is on.

By in Germany,

The 100 scenes book seems only to have the very well known box cover arts of the sets, thrown together with some information about the movies. Very disappointing, I expected to see something new. This is really only a catalogue.

I always love flipping through the books in the store, but I'll never buy one since they are outdated in a matter of months--if not weeks--by the time they hit shelves.
