Forthcoming LEGO books for 2015
Posted by Huw,I've just updated our handy guide to buying LEGO books at Amazon with new titles due for release later this year that I think will be of interest to adult LEGO fans.
DK:
- LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia Updated and Expanded (May)
- LEGO Awesome Ideas (September)
- Great LEGO Sets: A Visual History (October)
- I Want That Minifigure! (October)
No Starch:
- The LEGO Architect (Tom Alphin, aka henrysunset in the forum, August)
- The Art of LEGO Scale Modeling (Dennis Glaasker, Dennis Bosman, August)
- Medieval LEGO (Greyson Beights, September)
- Beautiful LEGO 3: Wild! (Mike Doyle, September)
- The LEGO Adventure Book, Vol. 3 (Megan Rothrock, August)
Other publishers:
- Brick Vehicles: Amazing Air, Land, and Sea Machines to Build from LEGO (Warren Elsmore, April. Entitled Brick Wheels in some markets)
- The Ultimate Guide to Collectible LEGO Sets (Jeff and Ed Mac from BrickPicker, November)
It's great to see some new AFOL names among the authors as well as new volumes of popular books. The latter two DK books should be of particular interest to Brickset readers because we, as a community, have provided input to them.
If you're aware of any others, let me know and I'll get them added.
I'm going to need another Billy...
Note: if the guide to buying LEGO books at Amazon page is largely blank, whitelist Brickset in your ad-blocker.

Looking forward to see those two DK books, 'I Want That Minifigure!' Must come with a Minifigure?
I've recently stopped MOCing (or at least, I'm TRYING to stop), but "LEGO: Awesome Ideas" might just pull me back into it - I could order parts for models instead, then at least I have original sets, and can still MOC.
And I might buy "I Want That Minifigure!" - just for a nice index of rare minifigs. I hope Mr Gold is included, and I know that the Chrome Darth Vader will be.
I am also into Castle - next year, there are rumors that LEGO is going to produce new sets - this means "Medieval LEGO" is going to be snagged.
It'd be funny if it didn't...
It does make you wonder how well some of those books would sell without a minifigure (like the visual dictionaries). I know I ONLY buy them for the exclusive figure. I'll flip through the book, but it isn't something I need.
My kids love the Lego books so my guess is that they would sell pretty good either way.
I was excited to see my book featured on the homepage!
"The LEGO Architect" explores popular architectural styles like Neoclassical, Art Deco, Modernism, and Postmodernism through LEGO. For each style, you will see beautiful photos of real buildings, a short explanation of the style, a selection of amazing LEGO buildings created by artists from around the world, and instructions to build small LEGO models based on the unique design elements of each style.
I'm especially excited that the book features so many great LEGO Architecture models by some of the most talented LEGO artists from around the world. It's been a real group effort and is a celebration of the whole LEGO community.
If you would like to learn more about my upcoming book, you can read a short preview at http://tomalphin.com/2015/03/the-lego-architect-book-preview.html
Happy building!

I have checked the amazon description and I want that minifigure does come with an exclusive minifigure. Apparently it is a guide to the rarest minifigures throughout Lego's history.
There is a website that lists the rarest figs, and I have like 10 of the 100 or so figs. And I'm barely an AFOL. Good luck I guess. When does the star wars DK book come out with the new white jengo fett?
i got a mike doyle model from his kick starter campaign , very talented micro builder .
@henrysunset
Tom, Look forward to reading and enjoying your new book. Way to go! Architecture has become an important topic within LEGO; it's about time. It is fun learning about building styles by using LEGO. Keep up the great work explaining to the rest of us just what we are building. Cooollllll!
