Mixels competition winners
Posted by Huw,
I apologise for not announcing the results sooner: for many of the judges real life got in the way which caused delays in the judging process.
Anyway, the scores are in now and the winners are:
1st Prize: Monster Fish by Donna Liem
A particularly fearsome fish of the type that you can imagine swimming in the depths of the ocean swallowing everything that comes its way!
A wonderfully presented entry, too.
Congratulations Donna!
2nd Prize: Agent Bunny by Dvd
Several people built bunnies from the Orbitronz but Agent Bunny was our favourite.
I love his evebrows!
3rd Prize: Flamette by Abraham Woo
This very cool one-eyed female humanoid wielding a flame thrower takes a well deserved third place.
Congratulations to all three. I'll be in touch to find out which prize you'd like. The prize pool is a LEGO House and two sets of Bricktober mini modulars. Donna will have first choice, and so on.

Nice models, but if I was judging, I totally would've given the top prize to the Agent Bunny. He looks brilliant! Agreed, the detail of the eyebrows takes that from a great model, to a brilliant one.
Congratulations! This is cool stuff. The bunny's great! The fish looks both mean and very, very slow :)
I'm missing the 'Elvis' though...
I love the bubble eye for the fish, that was pretty clever. Congratulations all!
^^ I'm going to have to agree. I would have liked to see judges comments, as well as a runner up or two.
@JackEmOhFeeNaNay: Which entry is Photoshopped? And where are the non-tribe parts? I don't see indications of either unless you're referring to the trans-clear stand for the fish.
Wow, agent bunny is just . . . AWESOME! Congrats winners.
Very nice selection of winner models! Congrats to the winners! I can't wait for the next competition!
Pffft. I think the original winners announced on April 1 looked much more like official LEGO models.
All April Fools kidding aside, these are three great models and the winners should be very proud. I do like Monster Fish best..it's like a very cool mechanical piranha, and is most Mixel-like. Agent Bunny has a lot of personality and very much reminds me of Buck O'Hare, or Star Wars' Jaxxon. And Flamette would be fun to pose, and also fits the Mixel aesthetic.
I could be wrong, but it seems that every time a model is featured in one of the competition reminder threads, that model ends up a winner. I assume that's not coincidence, and that Huw or whomever else creates the thread picks a high-quality model to feature. But is there any possibility it influences the judges?
^Not the time time they featured mine :P
I like the fish.
^^ "But is there any possibility it influences the judges?"
Only in that Huw chooses an entry to feature that catches his eye, and when we're judging, it's the ones that catch our eye that are the potential winners. The entries featured in articles don't have any kind of head start though, judging takes place directly from the flickr group.
I have to agree with several others, Agent Rabbit was my top pick too! This despite the fact that I was a creator of one of said other bunnies. I submitted "Astro Bunny" before I looked at other entries, and immediately recognized that Agent Rabbit was unbeatable. Those triangular white pieces did just scream 'ears' though. Congratulations to all the winners!
As epic as Agent Bunny is, Monster Fish is just too clean of a build to not win IMO.
For clarification, I am the 3rd place winner of this competition. I'm excited that this is my first LEGO competition that I won in general.
What are the details on prize distribution?
@JackEmOhFeeNaNay:
I added a creative image to show Flamette's interchangeable parts feature. I believe it's okay to add other Nixels and Mixels to that image because they are not part of my actual creation.
@woo224, my reply to both the email addresses you quoted in your message to me bounced so I've just sent you a message via FlickrMail.
If you don't get it, send me your snail mail address and I'll get your prize posted.
There are some truly great entries. Donna's Monster Fish is just brilliant. Fully deserved winner, well done.
