White Boba Fett now available
Posted by Huw,
DK's latest LEGO book Star Wars Character Encylopedia Updated and Expanded is now available and my copy has just arrived. As revealed in February, the cover minifig is a white attired Boba Fett wearing his prototype armour. The minifig is based on Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for the character, where he originally wore entirely white Mandalorian armour.

You'll find more photos of the book and minifig after the break.
It's a hefty book, at 287 pages. The thick minifig-holding cover bloats the width somewhat and I think makes it more difficult to read.
Interestingly, the figure is supplied partially assembled. The backpack and rangefinder are packed separately.
Our resident Star Wars expert CapnRex101 has this to say about the figure:
Boba Fett is one of the most popular Star Wars characters and it is therefore only to be expected that he has made yet another exclusive appearance with the LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded.
This white armoured version is based on Ralph McQuarrie's concept artwork for the Bounty Hunter, an example of which you can see below. Although the colour is the most obvious change to be made for the final film, the shape of some elements of the armour was also adjusted and this is reflected accurately by the minifigure. The helmet, torso and legs are all printed with highly detailed and accurate designs which nicely break up the otherwise uniform colour scheme. The little red arrow above his visor is particularly effective in my opinion.
I am a big fan of Boba Fett and am therefore delighted with this figure. It's certainly superior to the 2010 version and I think worth adding to your collection.

Actually I don't think it is entirely Chinese. The hands were not positioned at 90 deg to normal as is the case on Chinese made ones, and there are no light scratches on the torso which are usually present when made in the far east.
The back of the book claims it's made in Denmark, Hungary, China, Mexico and Czech Republic.
Take the head off and see if it has the paint mark. If it does, it's not Chinese manufactured.
Great Minifig! Love the price point.
I wish the head was just plain black so you wouldn't see the flesh showing under the helmet and neck. I did just order the book for the figure though.
It has every character, but not every minifig. Where characters have been redone, e.g. Chewbacca, the old version is shown as a 'star variant' box.
@Evil Pixie Works - There was a white version of the original Boba Fett minifigure in the promotional set "White Boba Fett Figure" from 2010. This has the new helmet, rangefinder, and jetpack from the newer Boba Fetts. And if you didn't read the article, this isn't just a white one. The printing is modeled off the concept art, so they're not just "painting it white" for no reason. Also, there has been an action figure.
The torso is not Chinese made as it has the black mark on the neck.
Looks lovely!
@Aussie Tahu -- thanks, good to know.

^ yes it is. It in the gear section DKSWCE2-1
Great minifig, just two small annoyances, would have been nice if TLG made the ranger-finder white like the original concept art & test costume, that & include a light bluish grey or silver blaster.
Only £4.99 on Amazon UK at the moment, just ordered mine... :o)
