Star Wars: The Force Awakens Stormtrooper Constraction set revealed
Posted by CapnRex101,
Entertainment Weekly has revealed a selection of Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys which will be on show at this year's San Diego Comic Con.
One such toy is this Stormtrooper figure based on their appearance in The Force Awakens, which joins the six figures already revealed in the Star Wars Battle Figures line. It is apparently going to be released on the 1st of January 2016 and will no doubt be accompanied by other figures based on The Force Awakens.
I don't know about you, but I quite like the look of this figure, more so than many of the others anyway.
According to the article, LEGO will be displaying a full size recreation of a First Order Stormtrooper at the Comic Con, so keep a lookout for it if you are visiting.
Thanks to omnius and gingerlad for the news.

I think that it looks much better than some of the other ones. Looks like a cool play feature to have it shoot as well.
I am curious on how well these are going to do. Remembering the old marvel and DC build able figures were not as much of a hit. I personally do not think I will find myself picking one of these up just because I'm sure I will not have enough money after buying a few of the other super expensive The Force Awakens sets.
Well that's kind of HOT!
Speaking as someone who was selling the DC / Marvel buildables, they were ridiculously popular, we still have people come in asking for them now.
Also, I think because there are so many parts etc, they can't be classed as an "action figure"
I can't wait to get one of those Constraction Spring-Loaded Shooter Weapons.
It looks like we have at least one decent SW Constraction set next year, then... :)
Well, that's the best-looking one they've unveiled so far! I want it just to display in my room. Also, it seems like white 4M shells are now a reality... that's good news for Bionicle fans.
Looks like the best one yet. Maybe with Disney holding the rights to Star Wars they might be some changes in action figures vs minifigres set. Love them or hate them Disney has more weight to throw around than Lucas did.
This one looks decent I mean a StormTrooper kinda looks like a robot already.
Is that a lightsaber attached to its belt? Or, if not, what is it?
@SuperDKong, I thought so too, but I reckon it's just a smaller blaster.
This one is actually good looking, unlike most of the others.
Does anyone actually buy these things? I think they're hideous.
@SuperDKong
Looks like maybe a hand blaster (pistol)
This is the best so far!
By far the best build-able figure legos made.
@SuperDKing @copperwonder96 - It is indeed a sidearm. If you have a closer look at the pictures from Anaheim Celebration, you can see..
On a personal level and the owner of a full Legacy Stormtrooper Armour Suit, this is superb! I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Although I much prefer the Grevious, it's good to see that so many people are looking forward to this set. Personally the main reason I don't like this set is because I really don't like the look of the new storm troopers.
This looks amazing. If you consider this to be in scale with the rest of our mini-figures, then I think THIS is the secret weapon the Dark Side is hiding.
Definitely loving this set. Can't wait for this to join my other Lego.
@Clone: I'm not quite sure how LEGO managed to overcome the licensing conflict with Hasbro. It's possible that Hasbro's license for Star Wars action figures is no longer exclusive, but it could also just be that it was easier to convince Disney than to convince Lucasfilm that buildable action figures with 80 or more pieces are more "construction toy" than they are "action figure". And if that's the case, then selling Star Wars minifigures outside the context of a larger building set would still be a no-go.
@Huey1: Well, if you mean these Star Wars buildable figures specifically, then no, because they aren't out yet. :P But if you mean constraction sets in general, then yes, definitely. There is a thriving community of constraction fans on sites like BZPower, Eurobricks, and Flickr. The Piece Out MOCists group on Flickr (https://www.flickr.com/groups/1634736 @N20/pool/) is a great place to see just some of the original models constraction fans create on a regular basis. That's not even getting into the number of kids who buy action figure sets but aren't yet a part of any organized fan communities.
